The renovation is gorgeous. Great spot to watch the sunset & view the moonrise. The viewing area off the jetty has some beautiful wooden bench seats (no tables) but ample grass area for a lakeside picnic. We absolutely love that the old boat tracks have been saved to showcase what once was. My family used to hang about down here going back 50 odd years!

I remember this as Stan Dix’s Harbour and Bait Shop and Boat and Canoe Hire and Boat Repairs. You could only see the roof from Northcliffe Drive, and had to negotiate a steep path and wooden steps to shore level. I was born in 1951 at 87 NCD and lived there until 1971. Vivid memories of the “grumpy” old Stan, but we bought many bait prawns at about 5 shillings a half pound, wrapped in the Mercury or South Coast Times.
“Dixie’s” was an institution one imagines being there “forever “.
