These guys rock! Family owned and operated. We come in on a Monday every six weeks or so and Mara always remembers us! I live in Bathurst and my partner lives in Port Stephen’s but we come in especially to dine here on a Monday (like today) when we are both in Newcastle. The service is outstanding and the food is brilliant! We won’t go for brunch anywhere else! We always have something different so we can slowly make our way through their menu. One day we will do Monday night music trivia and $2 fish tacos! Do yourselves a favour, run don’t walk to enjoy this cracking find on Beaumont Street!

Diverse menu options for all your needs. Service was great, food came fast, great indoor outdoor venue. The coffee was outstanding and fresh juices are a must try!! Great portions and reasonable pricing.

Looks like a local spot with many regulars, without being so crowded and loud like some good popular cafes in Sydney.

Stopped in for a sneaky boozey coffee after dinner out with the kids. Partner took the trophies for a walk to get cold rock and I ordered their Mexican coffee. Coffee was sooooo good I wanted another. Grab their New York cheesecake as a take away.

It was a Friday night so they had live music playing and had no issues with us rocking up and grabbing a table.

💕It's a joy to find late afternoon coffee & comfort food in such a welcoming space! Whilst the whole menu is yummy, there is no where else that does superb crunchy hot chippies like these guys😍🤤 or such delectable corn bread! Seriously, so so good!! Treat yourself, you deserve it 😉✅

I've gone here with my family many times. It's a great place with wonderful food, drinks, and atmosphere. The staff are always friendly, and they'll go the extra mile to make sure you have a great time

We had an unplanned dinner here tonight after a mixup with a booking we had elsewhere and drove Beaumont street to find something that might be close enough to a steak that wasn't a pub meal..We thought we were going to a traditional type steak house to order a Scotch fillet, but didn't see any of that on the menu. We decided to try it anyway and we were pleasantly surprised when we ordered the bowls.
I had the braised lamb bowl and the partner had the smoked brisket bowl. The flavours were absolutely amazing 😋 Some very nice chill guitar tunes from the in house entertainment. We had top notch service (wish I got the name of our attentive server, she came straight up to us when we walked in when we were not sure if we take a table or wait for service. She was very nice and accommodating. I think it was the Young Henry Lager I was drinking which was quite nice. Planning on coming back a lot more. Thanks for a great experience, we will be telling our friends and family.

Mara was great! B&E roll w/ a rosti paired really well with my smoothie. A regular return customer - always an amazing experience. 10/10 would recommend!!

Called in to have a coffee and stayed for brunch. Great cafe in the heart of Beaumont Street, ambience is great, customer service was not in your face but there when needed, the oat Cappuccino and oat Piccolos were excellent. Brunch consisted of sharing the Smashed Avo with poached eggs and the Pancake Stack along with a couple of Space Oddity juices. Being vegetarian it's a real pleasure coming across a menu with a wide range of vegetarian options. All excellent and we will definitely be back.

enjoyed a great night at son of a gun for a birthday dinner with family , the staff were friendly and made you feel real welcome the atmosphere was fantastic and for the main part the food and drinks were delicious. the pork belly bits for the entrie were mouth watering and the mains were just a good from the burgers to the steak tacos which were just divine, plus they also let us use there fridge for the bday cake and gave us takeaway boxes for leftovers , it's good when you can go out and enjoy great food and drinks and feel welcoming by cool and friendly people, will definitely eat here again

We had the prawn burrito bowl and the lamb bowl for dinner. The mix of flavours in the food were delicious. Excellent quality! Quick and friendly service. Decor and atmosphere is unique - loved it. We will definitely be back.

My girlfriend came in yesterday and decided that I had to experience the food here. It was absolutely delicious and our server was lovely. The environment is so welcoming and homely, and everyone that works here are so friendly and amazing. Will definitely eat here again. 20/10

We had an unplanned brunch here last weekend and it was perfect. Super quick service, great staff, food and coffee spot on. Couldn't fault it. Had a table out the front on Beaumont St, the vibe was great. Ordered a babycino for our toddler (yes, we're those parents) and she thought it was pretty special. It's a little thing, but the sprinkles on top made it special and that makes us happy too haha. Highly recommend.

Warm and friendly service and a very well priced happy hour that runs 7 days a week. We sat out on the street, enjoy the sights and sounds of Hamilton and enjoyed some wings and beer. The waitress was awesome!

Has been consistent since day one. Good quality coffee, well made and pleasant staff who are engaging and helpful.
Muffins are made in house and are stunning.

We spontaneously stopped to check the menu out the front and a friendly waitress came out with the specials menu which caught our interest more so we went in and ordered 2 of the specials.
The toasted panini with smoked ham, mustard, herb ricotta, red onion, and avocado was super tasty!!! What a combination of flavours!
And the Chicken Schnitzel bowl with garlic sautéed spinach, coleslaw, crispy potatoes and gravy makes for a wonderful comfort food in this chilly weather!
And the coffees were amazing! Dirty chai and Caramel latte.
Waitress was friendly and attentive, service was efficient! Compliments to the chef and we look forward to coming back next time we are in town!

Had dinner at Son of a Gun at Hamilton and the service we received by Jo was fantastic. He was Friendly, welcoming and very efficient. Was a pleasure to have him serve us. Have been a few times now and the service and food are always amazing.

Our experience with Son of a Gun was nothing short of 5 stars. The food was amazing and service was incredible. Will most definitely be heading back here!

They have the hottest wings around, Carolina Reaper, so hot and yummy.

Best Coffee and awesome big breakfasts. And I love their almond croissant.

I was here for lunch yesterday and had an amazing prawn burrito bowl. The service was great and friendly. I will definitely be going back.
