Have dealt with some great people from CASA, over emails and in person while doing inspections. They have always been happy to share knowledge and experience. CASA have responded quickly to all my queries and provide rough timeframes.

CASA as a regulatory body are more concerned with keeping their buddies in Parliament happy than keeping aviators safe. Well done with the heavy handed knee-jerk reactions to the media's depiction of hobbyist drone racing CASA, I'm sure your end of year bonuses are worth it.

I have dealt with CASA for over 10 years. Some excellent staff - usually at the lower levels. Senior management however seem to want to drive general aviation into the ground. Tactics of bullying are rife. 10 years ago I flew to Canberra at the request of a General Manager. He then ignored my calls for a week and when I finally got a response from his personal assistant I was told that a meeting was not necessary.
I had stopped Flight Training and spent thousands of dollars to go to Canberra to visit him to discuss my licence. In the end I had to use the Administrative Appeals Tribuneral to appeal their decision. But whilst in Canberra getting sodded off, they had sneakily sent a refusal to my Queensland PO Box - presumably to help burn up the 28 days (from memory) I had to appeal their decision. I employed an experienced aviation lawyer (also ex Army Pilot and TAA Captain) and got my appeal in just-in-time. Just before the hearing date Casa withdrew their Case. Licence granted. Then I had to ask them for my ASIC which was granted 3 months prior without incident. 5K wasted.

So many changes to licencing and regulations yet nothing has improved for the better. Hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars wasted. Reviews, inquests and still an even more broken Department.

This organisation has exorbitant fees, ambiguous and conflicting regulations, complex/phantom fee schedules and a minefield of Acts and Regulations. Seemingly different Rules for different folks. An organisation full of dead wood, cancer, some good folk and those presumably too inexperienced or afraid to seek change.

CASA is full of incompetence, self importance, red tape and bullying. They are not proactive in The safety of aviation in Australia unlike the American Regulators. CASA seem to want to kill Industry and liveihoods, not make "Safer Skies". The Australian Public deserve better as do the many hard working wonderful people in the Australian Aviation Community.

Driving good, honest knowledgable folk to the ground is not in the intrests of anyone - except the sociopathic instigators.
