Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club

GRYC was the fantastic venue for the school nationals sailing regatta our teams competed in. Hosts and staff were super friendly and welcoming. The setting, opposite Hindmarsh Island is beautiful.

It's a great place to stop for lunch and enjoy the river.

Called in to GRYC clubhouse on Friday night for a drink or two, and found the fire going and friendly people to share some old sailing stories!

GRYC is a friendly club for sailing, club cruises and and social events. It has a large marina suitable for sailing and powered boats. The club also hosts a Sailability group and radio controlled yachting. A very inclusive club open to all people interested in sailing and boats.

My son has special needs and is involved with the club's "Sailability Program". Words can't express the wonderful job thr volunteer members do in accommodating their disabled members. It takes a very special person to oversee the logistics involved in assisting differently abled people to participate in the highly technical pastime of sailing. It makes us feel so grateful that my son can be involved with such lovely members - from the volunteer coordinator right down to every single lunch lady and bar service staff. All are contributing such a positive influence on my son and his development and engagement in this hobby. The fees determined for disabled sailors are so incredibly reasonable for what effort is put into the programme. We will continue to support the club as a family in whatever ways we are able in appreciation. Thank you for offering such a healthy, wholesome outlet and environment for vulnerable participants. My son has learned so much and enjoys it beyond measure. Thank you all!

This was actually at the Armfield slipway where they repair wooden boats. It is the location of the boats used in both Storm Boy movies. Very lovely men that were more than happy to show us around and explain some of the history of wooden boats in Goolwa and the Murray. Well worth dropping in. They are there Tuesdays and Friday afternoons.
