Rocky Cape Lighthouse

The view, the shipwrecks, the wind, and the first cave be surveyed in Australia! Surveyors are awesome, and so are the indigenous elders who led the surveyors to these significant locations during the establishment of the Colony. If you're travelling with a mountain bike, leave the car at the end of the bitumen, near the entry to Rocky Cape Retreat, and ride into the National Park and to the lighthouse. Fill your lungs with the fresh Tasmanian air and feel the endorphins firing in your brain!
Just a small aside.. did I mention the 2-person bath on the deck at the Rocky Cape Retreat cabin I was staying in? Can I encourage you to stay a couple of nights here? It is stunning accommodation that is worth every cent! I'm from Sydney and desperately needed some 'time out', so I'm so glad I came here! It's a two minute walk to your virtually private beach (it's a public beach which is so far away from anywhere that there are no other people). Tranquil, peaceful, and private. Just you and nature!
The light house and surrounding coastline are stunning. Make sure you also go to the eastern boat ramp and see the coastline and sparkling clear blue waters of the Bay. Stunning on every level!

I love visiting lighthouses as you generally get a good view!!

We stopped to have a look and ended up doing a little bbq for lunch (with all our own supplies). It's well looked after.
