Good free camp great clean showers and tots . Good spot just before Cairns. Does get very busy

Greenpatch is a Council run 'short stay' camping grounds. You can stay for 3 days. It is closed during the peak of the wet season for your safety.

This is a seasonal camp ground that caters for many forms of camping from tents to caravans. A siren is installed to evacuate everyone when the Mulgrave River rises to possible flood level.

Great stopover, great showers and toilets pretty crowded but would stay here again

Arriving here we did get a little worry for staying the night as there are locals that look like they are living there. And it does have a bit of a rough crowd. We had no problems for the evening.
It has hot showers but you do need a dollar coin to us I can't confirm if it's clean as I didn't use the facilities.
Has taps and dump points!

Possibly one of my faves on the travel, yes a few of the perms get a little lary, but they keep it to themselves, best place to make buddies period, a click outside of Cairns, police patrol daily and nightly, showers are $2, pay it, the waters colder than the fridge stuff in Woolies, loved the place, the 3 day restrictions does not seem to be enforced at present! We were there ages, toilets get a full blast daily, again just a top free location.

Pretty crowded. Very modern and well kept ablutions. Showers available for $1. I met a lovely lady there. We talked for hours and I played some tunes on guitar, until a man asked us to keep it quiet. Was pretty late by then LOL!

Easy to access, 2WD accessible, tent friendly. Large open grassy area next the highway, with a few large shady trees. Plenty of space and wonderful free camp bathroom with showers and toilets. Can pay a few gold coins for hot water, but it was hot and humid so we didn't even need to! The traffic from the highway didn't really bother us. The camp site fills up quite fast but we got there late at night in the off peak and still plenty of space for us. Absolutely wonderful free site and amenities! There needs to be more sites like this, tent friendly sites seem to be getting fewer and fewer.

Very spacious and free campground, there are facilities including a $2 hot shower for 4 minutes (be sure to have 2x 1$ coins).

For a free campground it's perfectly fine. Just off the motorway (so you can hear cars and trucks but no more than living on a main road). Larger site so other cars are near by. Potable water, dump site and toilets and showers are easily accessible. Highly recommend!

Nice place to be at the end of the night. Got showers , not potable drinking water though but it’s good .

If your looking for a free camping spot near Cairns I would highly recommend staying here it is just off the highway but you can barly here the cars driving past and you can stay for up to 3 days. It is only 30 minutes from Cairns and is a very nice spot and everyone is very friendly. Toilets and showers are also provided but if want to have a hot shower it's just a few bucks to use the hot water which is still better and cheaper then staying at a caravan park🤙

It's also pet friendly which was perfect for us as we have 2 little dogs.

Great free campsite - really busy too therefore great sense of safety!

Amenities can be more clean
So much noise at night ! We couldn't sleep until midnight because of young vanpackers putting music and screaming

Lovely spot, lots of shaded areas, toilets, $2 hot showers ( make sure you have $1 coins) , new and clean. A bit of highway noise and lots of dirt bikes in the bush near by. But a great free camp, best I’ve been to so far ❣ 3 nights stay

This is a great place to stop and rest. Prior to being renovated, this area sometimes attracted undesirable characters who menaced campers late at night. Since it is busier now, it feels so much safer to be there.

Better than anticipated, good amenities, toilets, paid hot showers and plenty of room, donation box is broken so couldn’t leave any $$$ to support. Would stay again when in area next.
