Wardell Cafe & Take Away

My son told me about the pies and he was right. Despite the unusual shape which is nothing to do with taste and maybe is a clue to the originality anyway, my satay chicken pie was the bomb. Many varieties and I'll be trying some more. My iced latte was rather good too. The pie shop is next door to the cafe but it seems they retail thru the cafe. You can buy frozen packs too. Not far off the freeway that only has boring service centres so this is a great diversion.

Take the journey off the M1 for a pie.Amazing. So many to choose from. The sausage roll was good as well.

Forget every service centre along the highway. Pulling into Wardell just for one of these pies is what I'll be doing every time from now on. Honestly the best I've ever had.
Please come here, you won't regret it!

Travelling north stopped for coffee, best ham salad roll ever!
Called in on our return, best variety of pies and amazing apple pies! Only wish we lived closer! Will stock up to freeze on next trip!!

Quick pitstop on our way to Coolangatta and managed to grab a few of the last pies available at the end of the day.
They were all really delicious and it looks like there's a lot to choose from if you can get there before they sell out.
Would definitely recommend stopping past to grab a quick bite :)

Great little spot to stop off. Short walk down to the river to enjoy your takeaway. Lovely people in the community centre helping the flood recovery. So glad we stopped.

Fantastic little takeaway in terrific spot. We bought fish and chips which was freshly cooked. It was very reasonably priced and tasted delicious. The customer service we received was outstanding. Just around the corner behind the Royal Hotel you can sit on the river at little tables and chairs under cover

Great friendly service, fish and chips for dinner. Next morning coffee and excellent bacon and egg roll.

It was awesome! Perfect eating temperature, thick crust and tasty fillings. We had the plain, mushroom and the cheese/bacon pie. Take your pie down to the river to have lunch with a view. Perfect stopping point between Coffs and Brissie.

Just ate a stunning duck and mushroom pie. Pastry soft flakey and delicious. Flavour of the pie would have to be one of the best I've ever tasted. Good coffee as well. Little gem of a place.

If you are wanting takeaway, pies, or fresh salads sandwiches or wraps this little takeaway is for you. We always get our hamburgers here they are so fresh and home made meat patties. I have a vege burger just so yum . The cakes and salads are so inviting and ready home cooked meals to takeaway. Get your burger and go sit by the river to enjoy it . 😀🥧🧁🍔🍟

Friendly staff, amazing vegan ice cream, quirky interior but still relatable to my aesthetic needs. Would recommend visiting the toilets at some point. Very secure, accessed with a key connected to a giant spoon. Again, a little quirky but respectfully so.

Everything here is tasty. The best pies I've ever tasted. The ice cream tastes great too. Location is awesome. This is where I am stopping every trip now.

Had the chilli beef pie. Pastry is delicious if a little soft, but the filling was amazing.

And really friendly ladies serving.. loved it.. stopped here on the way back to sydney... was looking for something other than road side mcdonalds junk.. also good to support small buisiness.. highly reccomend.

Best tasting pies. Definitely worth the slight detour off the highway for lunch or a snack.

Country corner store, cafe and takeaway with the kind of friendly service you only find at family run shops in the country. Great town made pies (the chilli one was great) and gelato and sorbet (loved the ginger gelato)

Fantastic food and pies...coffee was delicious as well!!!
