The adjoining bakery, just outside the restaurant, provides an amazing selection of sweet and savory options. Cappuccinos, along with a large beverage selection, compliment the food with perfection. Service was quick and friendly, with plenty of tables, giving you the opportunity to relax and enjoy a meal, without the full service attention of the upscale dining room. The falafel wrap was warm and super satisfying and the pistachio croissant, delicate and buttery, one of the best I've experienced. Given the choices nearby, this is by far, the best for a quick bite and unwind.

We had dinner and tried 3 different courses: eggplant parmigiana, steak and chicken. All of them were very tasty, but the eggplant parmigiana was absolutely amazing!

The waiters are super friendly and the food came very fast! I would definitely recommend this place!

My fiancĂ© was also very impressed by the corn (side dish). But we love the combination of steak with corn so we may be biased here👀

I don't even know where to begin to thank this restaurant and staff who made my mom's special birthday extra special. We travelled from Canada all the way to Sydney, and I booked a table for mom and I to celebrate her birthday. Not only their food was absolutely delicious, but we were so moved by their service. They gave mom a candled fruit tray then brought out a take-home pastry set - again, perhaps one of the best pastries I've had. They make them all in-house right in front of you by the way. On the take-home box, staff hand-wrote "Happy Birthday" in Korean for my mom!!!!! Now my mom wants to go back to Sydney just to visit your restaurant. :-) THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH.

Had a lovely experience at District Brasserie. Came here with a large party of 15 and our experience was delightful. Our waitstaff was attentive, incredibly accommodating, and patience with our large party.

We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was impeccable. Great flavor, wide variety of dishes, and an option for everyone.

District brassiere is tucked away in the corner of the first floor behind the coffee shop. At first it was hard to find but we were quickly greeted, seated, and served. Can’t wait to come back here because it truly is a treat!

EXCELLENT SERVICE, CREATIVE MENU AND HIGH QUALITY
Dropped in for a Saturday night dinner while visiting Sydney. Had no trouble getting a table (at 7:30 pm).
Its located inside the Chifley Building on the lower ground floor
The venue is quite well furnished with comfortable chairs and lots of space between tables. Linen napkins and table wipes between courses :)
For people with mobility issues, its all one flat floor level with no steps at entry and ample room for a wheelchair at tables.
Wait staff were delightful - seemed to really enjoy being there!
The two of us shared steak tartare and duck parfait for entree - fresh, clean taste and beautifully presented.
For mains - fish of the day and ricotta gnocchi.. both also delicious and well presented. Sides of cauliflower and broccoli.
All up with 2 glasses of wine each is was $190.
Well worth the money for both the level of service and quality of food.
The couple next to us had some specific food requests which were met without any fuss.. great service.
At another table a customer broke a wine glass which was whisked away in an instant without a word having to be said.
It was fairly noisy at first as there was a private function just outside, but once that concluded it was a very comfortable noise level.

Whether it is lunch or dinner or enjoying a few drinks and cocktails, the team at District never disappoint. I won't eat steak anywhere else and their menu has something for everyone. While a larger group means we get to try many more of the dishes, but my 'go to' is two entrees and a steak to share. While the dessert menu has always been great, my favourite dessert is mopping up the juices with the best sour dough in town..!

As a hospitality business owner myself, I have to give props to this outstanding establishment... The team was able to seat two of us on a very busy night with no booking & did not make us feel like we had been an inconvenience.

The food was fantastic, the service was impeccable & the open kitchen was filled with some of the most talented people I have watched in a very long time.

We will 100% be back.

Thank you so much for a great dinner.

Restaurant: (Cafe review below)
It's kinda awkward to have lunch with your young accountant. Who pays? Do you take turns? How personal do you get? You share all this money stuff, to a degree you may not with your bouncy bounce friend. These lines are nerve racking. So I need a restaurant that just gets the job done, quietly enough and we'll enough, so I can focus on not crossing all these bloody lines!
District does all that, at a price. The takeaway section looks good, armed with pre mades of better quality than the norm, and more people ready to make your lunch hour efficient, than a first class cabin (if I ever see one).
The restaurant behind is furnished similarly crowd pleasing. The staff flutter around like those birds did, welcoming Eddie (Bob hoskins) to toon town (see Rodger rabbit). All dressed for different roles, but seemingly all drawn from the same stereotype. Lithe, female, young and as elegant as a ciggie in a 50s ciggie holder, complete with long silk gloved smoker.
The $46 harpuka was just as you'd expect, just a few days after getting on board an air nz flight. A little over roasted, but board-flat crisp skinned with wilted lettuce, creamed this and caramelised that, butter and stock jus...it worked a treat.
Good bread and fancy butter...drinks well poured and presented in glassware worthy of the objective (happily dollar drained punters).
If this is what you want, this is what district delivers.
Who paid? Dunno...I suddenly had to use the bathroom...seemed resolved when I returned...inexperience really does pay.
The CAFE is something to behold. There are a handful of food gathering places in the building, but this place is as busy as a fly in a cow paddock. And here's why...its frikkin excellent. The $12 sandwiches are maybe a little pricey, even for the pure wool end of town. But they are made with home baked rolls of the highest quality...and they are chock full of decent quality ingredients....and finished with quality sauces. The coffee is on the money, the pastries banging, and the whole place offers table delivery to quality furniture. I couldn't want more for my $17 lunch.

District Brasserie is a classic French brasserie using primo ingredients to make delicious food . Some starters have a modern twist, such as raw cobia with radish, ponzu and a macadamia paste. Class steak tartare is served with a crispy tapioca cracker. Steak frites is a classic, ours served with grilled watercress which added a tasty sharp element to the plate, bearnaise is always decedent, I see this dish being a favourite for the suits that roll in this part of town. The steam snapper is exceptional, delicate and light, served on a bed of shrooms and mussels on a divine sauce. Desserts are equally good. I was invited to District Brasserie by a PR company but I would never write a review that is not justified, this place is great.

This Modern Australian gem is a delight for both locals and international visitors. With an adjoining bakery offering a tempting array of sweet and savory treats, it's perfect for a quick bite. The cappuccinos and diverse beverage selection complement the warm and satisfying falafel wrap or other mouthwatering options. The service is quick and friendly, providing a relaxed atmosphere for a casual meal. Whether it's a birthday celebration or a casual dinner, this spot's delicious dishes and thoughtful service make it a standout.

My new favourite steak out of anywhere I've ever tried and I love my steak, it's called a Hanger and is delicious!!
Service is always great and the menu caters for all tastes.
Hang out at the bar for a couple of drinks before your meal and you'll have a great night.

Best wishes for your future endeavours guys, it’s mixed feelings seeing you have to close for the renovations. My last lunch the other day was as good as the first one all those years ago. I’m sure our paths will cross again.

Superb quality food served by amazingly beautiful professional staff. The open kitchen runs like a well oiled machine. When in Sydney you just have to eat here.
We had the ribeye on first day then the hanger second day.
