Cool opshop with heaps of to choose from - good quality clothes, shoes, books, bric-a-brac and sunnies. Friendly staff, very well organised and resonable priced. Defo pop in while in Newtown.

I really like this shop. I don't know why or how, but there are really nice items here all the time. So far I've purchased a beautiful navy Bec and Bridge evening dress, some fantastic silk late-afternoon dresses, a fantastic dotted day dress, and a Chinese-style lightly padded jacket that makes me look very expensive. I once even saw some Giuseppe Zanotti heels (Harmony, nude) in size 39, and these are worth $1000 minimum. I think they only wanted like $200 for them, and they looked brand new. I didn't get them because I couldn't walk in such high heels, but I am continually impressed with the quality of the things I find here. Anyway I make an effort to stop here every time I pass Newtown.

Advantages to buying second-hand clothing from the Red Cross Clothing Store:
- it's more unique and unusual because it has become dislodged from the era of its purchase.
- you know it will last and is reasonably well made because it's already gracefully survived so many experiences with one or more previous owners
- making new clothes and fabric is hard on the environment and sadly often involves unfair labour, so better to give money to the Red Cross than a company that might be disrespecting our planet.
- no more surprise bleeding and shrinking when you wash stuff for the first time ever
- you can sort of feel the love other people have put into their clothes while they wore them. It feels good. It feels like community.

This is a well run, well organised 2nd hand shop that is a reminder of the wonderful 2nd hand shops that used to be abundant on King St. Much better than the Westfield style of shops that litter the Newtown high street nowadays
