The Outpost Cafe

We were visiting town and arrived late lunch time to find that most cafes had stopped serving lunch, or had very limited options.
The staff here were very friendly and helpful and offered us a full lunch, even though they had just stopped serving lunch.
The food was excellent and we enjoyed eating outside except for the traffic.
It is a good place for a quick bight if you are passing through.

What a fantastic cafe this is. The pies here are well known and for good reason. They absolutely nail them.

I had the pepper steak pie and a kransky roll. The pies pastry is crisp, not crazy thick and full of flavour. The pepper steak itself is just beautiful, it's my go to pie to rest the flavours and this is one of the better ones I've had.

The kransky is in a similar pastry, crisp and beautiful. Just a great feed as you travel through.

I understand why it's a popular spot for motorcyclists and locals. It really has a community vibe to it and the staff are super friendly.

Its one of the best pies I've had from Cairns to Mornington.

Wow delicious hamburger and hubby said his chicken salad roll was the best one yet, with large slices of thick roasted chicken. The chips were perfect.
We called in last week and ordered pies. In my opinion had the best pie on offer in Australia 🇦🇺 chunky beef 😋 Don't go past without calling in to eat, you won't be sorry.

The Outpost Cafe truly exceeded our expectations after a long week away from home, seeking a relaxing spot to unwind and collaborate before the flight home, to wrap up the week. The cafe provided exactly what we needed. The staff greeted us warmly, and their smiles immediately made us feel at home. We had read some reviews beforehand and had a good laugh at the unreasonable 1-star ratings (poor Warwick just wanted his beans!). The prices were fair, and the atmosphere of the cafe was clean and welcoming. The staff efficiently took our order, and they graciously accommodated a late addition to our meal. The hamburger was spot-on - neither greasy nor dry - and the salad was refreshingly fresh. We particularly enjoyed the spacious layout of the tables, which allowed for comfortable conversations without feeling cramped by neighboring tables. Overall, The Outpost Cafe provided a wonderful experience for us.

Love this place! There’s mostly outdoor seats.

We had grilled fish, different pies and sandwiches!

Pies were great. The steak pie was very tender!!! The chicken mushroom was well flavoured took!

But sadly, the chocolate drink was too sweet.

In the small city, there’s no much choices so we just decided to dine here.

Such fabulous food!! Staff friendly and service quick and with a smile. My hubby had an egg and bacon roll which he said was awesome and I had a mince steak pie which was so divine I could have had happily eaten them and nothing else for the rest of my life 😅 A lovely county feel and neat and tidy- we sat outside with the lovely view of the Main Street of Canungra and thoroughly enjoyed our visit there 😊 prices more than reasonable too! Thank you for a lovely time !

Great cafe to stop at. Very busy but fast and efficient. Lovely outdoor settings and indoor booths. Bike riders love coming here for their break. Beautiful coffee and cake offers as well as the best sausage rolls I have ever tasted. A must if you are ever in Canungra.

Great place to stop for lunch on your way to or from O'reilys. I had the Chunky Steak pie and it was definitely that. Enjoyed it and would happily come back. The service was quick and polite.
Back again. Today I had the Lamb and Rosemary pie. I was pleasantly surprised that it retained the flavour of the lamb 👍
Just had the Choclate Caramel slice and it was one of the best I've had. A definite choice for my next visit.

A wide range of pie to choose. Remember the days in NZ when stopping in highway, all the cafe must have their signature pie. The pie can choose whether come with chips and gravy. A prefect matched , the chip is hot and crispy.

Amazing big pies. Well worth a stop for a meal. Relaxed outside veranda for a break from driving

Great little Cafe and the chicken schnitzel I ordered was amazing, so well cooked and so tasty, probably the best schnitzel I've ever had and even the salad was good. The added touch, was the outside mist spraying over the seating area to help cool the customers down whilst it was so hot. Definitely a thumbs up👍 and a 5 ⭐😊

Now these are pies worth writing about. Exceptional. I will happily drive back here from the coast for more pies. Seriously good. Coffee was pretty nice too. Plenty of seating, friendly service. Just all quite lovely

Update: the pies are so good I obsessed about them for a couple days then got up early and drove to Canungra before work... that's when they told me about the special: 4 pies and two sausage rolls for $30 or 5 pies. Omg had 5 pies all different sorts and they are all incredibly amazing... and then there's also $3 coffees before 8am. I'm in heaven I swear 👍👍👍❤❤❤

Great for a quick stop-over to and from the city.
They are offering breakfast, lunch and takeaways.
Their pies were the best selling and would'nt doubt it because it was a total yum!
They have a huge seating capacity.
They have clean toilets and have small parking on the back of the store (entrace via BP).
Centrally located from the groceries- foodworks, servo, and other restaurants and cafe.

Delicious pie sold here. We order 2 pies, each cost around $6.50 without chips. The kids had fish & chips and cheese burger. The serving of the cheese burger was large, my 9 year old boy could not finish. The coffee and lemon tea were aromatic!

The best pies, and sausage rolls! We love coming here for the pie, mash potato and mushy pea special. Chips are delicious, and so is the snitzels. Wish they were open a bit later though. 😄

Such a cute cafe in a small town. Stopped by when I saw the sign for ice cream on the way back to Springfield and the food is amazing and ice cream is so good. Worth the stop in!

Great place... Staff were excellent.. The service was really good. From placing our order to table service was very quick... Meals were hot and served with a smile. This is my first visit to this cafe and I will be taking more friends with me next time. Big sizes in their meals. Plenty of room for everyone.. lots of choices on the menu... something there for all tastes and don't forget to look at the cakes and slices... yummo.
