Cape Nelson Lighthouse

We stayed in the lighthouse keeper's cottage. Very clean, tidy and all freshly painted plus it's so quiet...definitely a return stay is our plan.

14 min or so from Portland. Great drive. Parking, Cafe and walk is not long or strenuous.
Great photo opportunities, history and lovely Cafe.
There are cottages to stay at too.

Great to look around and see the history, saw lots of wildlife wallaby's echidnas and even a snake on the road !

Looking for Aurora - sadly too overcast & not strong likelihood - but would have been great place. Lived the whole station & lighthouse area tho.

Didn’t stay there. But the view is definitely worth the trip.

We recently stayed at the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, Sunset Cottage. We were doing the Great South West Walk and treated ourselves to a night of luxury for the last night of the walk.
The cottage is beautiful and has been beautifully restored. We felt very welcomed, and the big bath was exactly what we needed after days of walking and camping out. The luxurious bed was the most comfortable we have ever been in! It was amazing and we had a great night's sleep.
Rob was very helpful and friendly and arranged with the cleaner, Desi, to take our heavy backpacks back to Portland, thus allowing us to do the last day of the walk without them, thankyou so much Desi!
It was lovely to be able to get lunch at Isabella's Cafe when we arrived, and take it to the cottage. Also very convenient was that we were able to order our meals for the evening to be delivered to us from Macs Hotel in Portland.
We had a lovely, relaxed and very restful stay at Cape Nelson Lighthouse, Sunset cottage.
Highly recommend.

We stayed in the sunrise and sunset cottages as a family.
The kids totally loved it, especially the breakfast and the views. I'm sure there will be some creative stories written at school this year.
So well serviced- after several days camping, the oven, the laundry were very much appreciated.
It would be good if the gate between the two was working so we didn't have to do the long run around. And a map of the site on the website for working out bookings.

Closed for tours when I was there, but the coastline is stunning and wild. Very windy, so be prepared. The little cottages are cute and give an idea of how lonely & isolated anyone living there would have been. Landscape is largely untouched and extremely rugged which only adds to its beauty.

Just a day trip. Well worth it.

Amazing place. The ocean 🌊 was beautiful. The aqua green colour with big waves hitting the rocks, the most amazing experience. When we went there it was around 4. It was foggy. We saw the light house in the midst of the fog and it was a different experience. So went back again in the morning to see again. Love this place.

Road towards the lighthouse is really amazing. We missed to take video first so I did U turn and came back again to shoot video .
Worth visiting if you are in portland

Lovely cottages, peaceful, secluded with old style charm but modern conveniences. The sound of the ocean on every side. Definitely a favourite place!

This is a beautiful place to visit. The rugged coastline is awesome. The lighthouse very commanding. Also the lighthouse keepers cottages/ accommodation are lovely to look at. Haven't stayed but would love to. If you watch the sea you can sometimes see whales in the distance. Occasionally they come in close. Lots of birdlife too.

Lovely for day trip.
