We had the most breathtaking time in the bottom bungalow. Peaceful, calming, relaxing, waking up to the mountains, the birds, the wildlife. Amazing. Hosts are welcoming and friendly. Selections of beautiful local produce for breakfasts, coffees and teas. Thank you

What an incredible experience. The perfect base for our trip up to the Daintree. The lodge has an outdoor kitchen, patio area, bathtub and indoor/outdoor bathroom which was all incredible. The views and colours over the hills at sunset were magical.
Quiet and serene with only the sounds of the birds in the day and the bugs at night. The outdoor bathtub was perfect for a spot of stargazing on a clear night with the silhouette of the mountains in the background.
We enjoyed the fresh fruit and small batch coffee provided for breakfast and the hosts were really helpful on check in, recommending local places to visit and eat.
Wompoo Eco Lodges will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we’d love to visit again in the future.

I’d only say, don’t book if you’re spooked by or don’t like sharing your space with the wildlife!

We loved the Wompoo Eco Retreat so much!! Everything about it was perfect. The cottages are just adorable and the location is perfect. It is so green, and so bright, with amazing views. We loved sitting out on the porch looking at birds, and bats at sunset. We even had a wallaby and a possum come to visit, late in the evening. Breakfast was just delicious!! Everything was homemade, with a delicious and gorgeous platter of sliced fruits. The people were wonderful and everything was really clean. I would highly recommend this wonderful place to stay! We sure hope to return someday. Thank you for a great experience!

We had a delightful stay at Wompoo. Peter was very welcoming and gave us tips on local places to visit. We were impressed with the rammed earth construction of the retreat. The view was amazing, the breakfast fruits, tea and coffee were great, the open air bathroom and outdoor kitchen was perfect for the location and we loved the outdoor bath. Jill provided us with lovely complimentary home made soaps and bath salts too. Thanks Peter and Jill.

Simple, well-appointed, spotlessly clean and private. A lovely outlook over the lush rainforest and the perfect place to base yourself to explore the Daintree. The hosts had lots of great tips on where to visit and places to eat, and the fresh fruit supplied for breakfast was a welcome and delicious treat. We’d definitely stay again.

We had a very relaxing stay at Wompoo Eco Retreat. The location is a perfect place to explore the Daintree. We loved the view from our balcony, comfy bed, fresh breakfast and great hospitality. Highly recommended!

Jill & Peter were very friendly and welcoming.
The bungalows perched on the hillside have a fantastic view of the mountains and the sunsets were glorious.
The evenings on the decking blended into star lit nights.

What a beautiful part of the world! These little cabins are set up on a hill with spectacular views right outside your front door. All eco friendly and off the grid, they have everything you need for a getaway from the daily grind. Quality linen and plenty of towels. The hosts kept us up to date when checking in and were open to any questions we might have.
It was the little extra touches that made it special, with homemade soap and local produce for breakfast. The outdoor bath is an added bonus!

Highly recommend staying at Wompoo! The bungalow was perfect, the view was lovely (even in the rain!), breakfast was scrumptious, the handmade soap was divine and Jill and Peter were lovely hosts :)

Exactly as described on the website. The hosts were excellent, Peter in particular passed on a great amount of local knowledge. The cabin is very comfortable, the views unforgettable!

While there, make sure you enjoy a few drinks on the balcony as you watch the sun go down, enjoy some local ice cream and spend an hour exploring the beautiful Cow Bay Beach.

I'd definitely stay again and will recommend to friends and family.

It's a luxury cabin in the middle of the forest and it's good to get away and relax. The kitchen and bathroom were very modern and the hot tub was just convenient and relaxing to have. Jill and Peter also ensured to follow up on necessities I needed so the service was great. Peter also explained and mapped a lot of beach and parts of the Daintree I could visit. I highly recommend and I would go there again.

A bird lovers paradise. Also paradise for anyone seeking quietness, serenity, and a sense of escape. Semi-open bathroom/toilet will delight most, but possibly concern others. Decent Wi-Fi available, but no Aussie networks. Absence of radio, TV and other entertainment devices was absolute bliss. At first there seems to be no wildlife, but sit quietly for a while and it emerges - sunbirds, drongos, fruit doves, raptors overhead, numerous butterflies, (including the fabulous Ulysses!).
A wonderful 4-night stay.

I really recommend this unique spot in the Daintree rainforest. My wife and I were here on our honeymoon and we loved it! The cabins have amazing views, which can be enjoyed from a big outdoor bathtub. It was great to have breakfast provided. Jill and Peter were really good hosts providing very helpful advice on the area. Eerything was clean and well-decorated. I hope other guests will be able to enjoy it!

Wompoo Eco Retreat was exactly what was needed after over a week in the busy tourist resorts of Cairns and Port Douglas. A beautiful and secluded spot while still being on the edge of everything, hosted by a lovely couple with all the information to enhance your stay with activities and beautiful walks.
The outdoor bath and shower came with picturesque views and the cabin came equipped with everything you needed to be self sufficient including a lovely breakfast with local ingredients.
I couldn't fault our stay here and would definitely stay again if we return to the area.

We stayed in the Mangosteen bungalow for three nights and it was wonderful! Don't expect TV and fast Wi-Fi, instead relish the views to Thornton Peak during the day and the Milky Way at night.
Jill and Peter are excellent hosts, providing lots of info on top spots to visit, as well as some very nice extras, like a fruit platter, fresh baked bread, local coffee, and handmade soap.
The room and furniture are first class. We loved this place and highly recommend it.

Absolutely loved our stay here. An immersion into nature in the Daintree. Jill and Peter are great hosts - the fruit, jam and fresh bread in the included breakfast was wonderful, as are Jill’s handmade soaps and bath salts. Make your morning coffee with the forest birds serenading you. You are in a fantastic location in the heart of the Daintree. Arm yourself with the best mosquito repellant you can find! Skip the expensive tours, rent a car and explore at your own pace with the Wompoo Eco Retreat as your home base.

Stunning place with attention to detail run by delightful Jill and Peter. Organic coffee, with plunger, range of Daintree teas, with teapot, handmade soap and bath crystals for bathing outside under the stars... everything about Wompoo is special.

Beautiful place in the world to unwind, catch your breath and relax. Jill and Peter are wonderful hosts. Looking forward to returning!

Wompoo Retreat was a perfect balance of a special experience, relaxation, and "feeling away". I was able to make the short drive from Cairns in the evening after disembarking from a diving live aboard, as Cow Bay is in perfect reach to serve as a launch point to explore Daintree forest areas such as Cape Tribulation, Emmagen Creek and Mossman Gorge. After each days' activities I enjoyed watching the sunset over the mountains through the rainforest treetops, soaking in the homemade bath salts in the wonderful outdoor tub, until thousands of stars lit up the night sky. The sparkling clean bungalow is fabulously designed to capture breezes, allow you to take a shower outdoors while enjoying the surroundings but also feeling very private and secure. Jill and Peter also provided a beautiful breakfast as well as local knowledge to the area.

Such a lovely stay in Cow Bay! Large and comfy bed, plenty of space to self cater and cook, dreamy semi-open bathroom/shower and lovely outdoor bath. Sitting on the deck and watching the brown bandicoots at night was a special treat. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the Daintree each day, having a car makes this super accessible and convenient.
