We enjoyed staying at old mates farm for 4 days, 2 days in the rain. Farmer Luke was very accommodating ensuring we were safe from the creek & stocking up our firewood.
Kids absolutely loved feeding the animals everyday.

Absolutely loved the weekend we had here. The farm animals they have are fantastic, including the feeding session that anyone can get involved in. We stayed in the Pioneers Hut which had everything we needed, the toilet facilities were great, the fire pit is fantastic, the walking/biking trails are well maintained, and the old equipment is really interesting. Will definitely come again!!

We had an amazing time and is a great place to connect with nature.
Feeding the animals was a wonderful experience not just for the litter ones but also for the rest of the family.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
100% recommended this place.

Great set up, for beginners right thru to experienced campers. Targeted at families there is lots to do with bike & walking tracks. A well stocked petting zoo opens up in the afternoon for kids to feed the animals. Multiple clean and well equipped toilet & shower facilities are scattered conveniently for all sites (bring $2 coins for a hot shower). Dog friendly.

This is your place to go to if you're after a great camping experience.
Even though it is mostly meant/suited for families, we stayed as a group of 4 adults in our mid 20s and still had a good time.
The space of the individual spots is nice and big. Every spot also has their own fire pit which is the best part.
You're able to purchase firewood off of the farm which is about $35 for 50kgs of wood and it gets delivered to your site. You can buy more if needed at any time.
You only have to bring your own axe to chop it into snaller appropriate pieces and i think that added more fun to the experience. There's flushable toilets and hot showers. The toilet 'house' has a big open window that you look out of and into the jungle while doing your business, thought that was pretty cool. It gets cleaned every morning and also provides a first aid kit.
The shower is very big and spacious, could easily fit multiple people in there which I guess is great for families with little children. There's also shelves provided for your clothes etc.
You need to bring some coins for this, it is $2 for 5 min of hot water.
There's many animals that you can visit and I think there's daily feeding sessions aswell for the kids to came and watch or even participate!
There's also some walking paths. Unfortunately we didn't get to explore these as we were off to other hiking adventures but we will explore them the next time we come around.
The owner Tony was really nice and welcoming. On our last day we asked to spontaneously stay another night (in the same spot) as we enjoyed it so much and he made it work for us by shuffling some bookings around at last minute, we were really grateful for that.
There's also 3 dogs that live here and roam the property. One of them, Chips, always came by in the morning to get his daily belly rubs, I loved seeing him.
Overall our experience was fantastic and we will be coming back for sure.
15/10 can highly recommend ☆☆☆☆☆

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at this property. Bike trails, swimming in the stream, seeing the farm animals and just relaxing. We stayed in one of the huts and loved having our own space and fire pit. Planning on going again.

I arrived yesterday to be told that the site is temporarily closed due to legal issues. The caretaker helped me as my car got stuck in the mud due to extreme weather lately, very nice guy. no idea how the site is as i didnt get to stay.

Amazing people and place! Exceptionally clean, kids loved the animal feeding (so did the adults!), bike riding and swimming in the stream. Can't wait to go back!

Highly recommend this place as a weekend getaway close to cairns or spend a week as home base and explore local areas. Great camps sites, awsome area and kids love the animal feeding. Obviously bring your common sense to help make it an easier time on yourself and the owners.
Bit will definitely be back many times over.

We had an excellent camping trip and appreciate all the hard work that goes into maintaining all the sites and amenities. A great place to camp with kids with our daughter loving the animal feeding. The dogs had a ball as well!!!

The Farm is great, the campsites spacious, the Amenties very clean, we rode our bikes & walked the lovely trails, the signage was easy to follow using the map provided. The memorabilia of ww11 vehicles, cars, trucks, etc were a pleasant surprise...
