As a local and a regular patron of Steam for over a decade, I've witnessed its evolution, particularly with the recent change of ownership. It's disheartening to read some of the less favorable reviews, given the evident dedication of the new owners to culinary excellence and customer satisfaction. The restaurant, a jewel on the peninsula, now boasts a skilled male and female chef duo, overcoming the regional challenges in staffing.

My recent visit was marked by the 'Banquet for Two.' Each dish that arrived was a testament to the chefs' expertise. A highlight was the beef jerky, a unique delicacy, I sampled from my partner's plate. Its exceptional taste is a nod to the owner's heritage, where jerky is a specialty.

The personalised approach extended to my espresso martini, prepared just as I prefer. While my photos may not do justice to the culinary art due to the lighting, the buzzing atmosphere of locals savoring their meals spoke volumes. Our heartfelt thanks to the chefs and owners for rekindling our love for Steam with such a remarkable dining experience.

What a great experience! Sokson was very attentive from the minute we entered the restaurant. As someone with a couple of dietary requirements, she went above and beyond to ensure I could fully enjoy my experience, speaking with the chef and having some dishes modified to suit my needs.

The food itself was incredible and I savoured every bite. Will definitely be back the next time we’re down!

Steam is an excellent place to get awesome service and delicious food. My partner and I couldn't have asked for anything better. We had the 9 course dinner with some cocktails. Thanks to the staff at steam for making our trip 5 stars!

We had a beautiful seafood meal, The Oysters and Calamari were fresh and really tasty, It was a fair price and the atmosphere was a bonus. Thanks. I would definitely recommend this Restaurant.

We had a good dinner in this restaurant was highly recommended of my sis-inlaw...my expectations never let me down ....we had a banquet set meal the blue swimmer crab was good,scallop sashimi I thought I will never enjoy coz I never had scallop sashimi before but OMG it melts in your mouth the scallop is so tender with chili mayo and sauce was one of the best,I enjoyed also the pulled pork pancakes ,the calamari is good too,best Wagyu beef dumplings I ever had and the Skin baramundi with Balinese bumbu curry sauce one of the best too...
The very best is the sashimi scallop and the skin baramundi... my strawberry ginger mojito is good but just a bit expensive 🫰🫰
So this place is highly recommended if your are in Rye pier ...staffs are attentive and good..thank you everyone for the good experience...salute to the chef....

Amazing. I wasn't expecting such amazing Asian fusion on the water like this. The banquet options are amazing for a sampling of everything from oysters and sashimi to pork belly and beef medallion. Attentive staff and nice atmosphere. Would return.

Hadn't been to Steam for a few years so the time had come. Terrific night, the four of us really enjoyed your quality food and professional service. We'll be back regularly now.

Steam in Rye never fails to impress. Great venue for Asian Fusion. Sample dishes from all over Asia in one place. Great Service. Very friendly staff. Awesome bar too ❤

Fantastic location and friendly staff. Loved the selection of alcohol and the food was amazing. The boneless pork hock with Chinese five spice was defiantly the highlight of all the dishes tried. Seafood dishes were very fresh as well. I will definitely be back to try everything on the menu.

Had a beautiful evening shared at Steam hosted by Soksan. The flavours delicious, the range of menu could find a place for every taste, and the service is welcoming and friendly in just the right kind of balance. Definitely recommend booking a table and sharing a meal with your friends, fam and faves.

My partner and I had the vegan banquet option. An amazing assortment of vegan Asian fusion cuisine, delicious at every step, and great value for money. We were both stuffed by the end, and an amazing refreshing tapioca dessert as a finisher. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fine meal in the area. Further, the staff were under the pump, being short staffed, but all maintained a friendly and most professional demeanour. Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful meal, the sashimi & scallop entrees were great and my favourite in the mains was the green curry chicken, so fragrant.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service was excellent and all staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We had the 5 course banquet- oysters were super fresh (they have an in-house oyster tank) seared tuna was very tasty, pulled pork pancakes were one of the best I’ve tasted and the duck curry was perfect. Finished off by a delicious brownie. As for the cocktails - the passion fruit paradise was delicious and full of flavour.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for service, quality, atmosphere and price. Will be going back again.

Some of the best food on the peninsula. Great staff, Great cozy atmosphere. Large selection of alcohol. Really nice to try something new and exciting.

An incredible meal with the pictures not doing it justice. Turned up without a booking and lucky to get a table. Outstanding service and recommendations with delicious food. A hidden gem on the peninsula! Recommend booking which is what I'll do next time!

First time group of 6 diners. We opted for a banquet for a variety of tastings and it did not disappoint. Duck pancakes a favourite. Service was amazing and all staff were friendly. Great to see an upmarket fresh addition to the area. Will definitely be back.
