We had the Tobikiri omakase here.
And oh boy, it was an experience. The chef continue to bring out freshly made dishes and sushi and there is no end. Every dish is unique crafted and delicious.
Highly recommended.

On my visits to Neutral Bay and Mosman, I often choose this restaurant for lunch. Today I tried their Mackerel Grill with salt and the Hamburger Steak. The grilled Mackerel was tender and the hamburger patty was well-seasoned and enjoyable. This restaurant offers a pleasant and cozy atmosphere, making it a good spot for a satisfying lunch in the area.

We tried Omakase on my wife's birthday. I thought it would be a good experience but it turned out to be impressive. I thought I wouldnt be full but I was fully satisfied and stunned by the quality and creativity and number of dishes!

Thank you Chef for such a great experience. They are all fantastic and if I have to pick my favorites, they are in the photos 😋

Atmosphere:
I love the vibes of this little restaurant, the tiles and and little lamps and absolutely adorable. The sounds of food being fried, the clinging of the cups and plates, the chatter (this place is absolutely wonderful
10/10

Service:
The waiters aren’t the most enthusiastic but the service is still good.
The chef looks really serious but is actually super sweet and funny. At the end of the omakase my mom mentioned she wanted hair crab so he delivered. (We he says “trust me”, you really should)
8.7/ 10

Food:
Personally I’m not the biggest fan seafood but this changed my mind. I loved all the flavours. The chef is really creative and there are a lot of innovation in each dish. 9/10

Overall 9.5/10
(Strongly recommend)

Came here to try the dinner omakase with a group of 4 people. Very laid back environment and chef was very friendly and funny. Overall the sushi was great, with two types of sushi rice depending on the fish. The chef was very thoughtful and had attention to detail. Some of the highlights were the chawanmushi, Stuffed Tomato, black sesame tofu, sardine and aburi Imperador. The clear soup with yuzu was also a good finisher. Very well balanced meal and highly recommend! 😋😋

My recent dining experience at a local Japanese restaurant, Tobikiri, was truly exceptional. The impeccable service and delicious food earned this establishment a perfect 5/5 rating in my book. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the cuisine, providing detailed explanations of the dishes and offering personalized recommendations. The menu featured a wide array of traditional Japanese dishes, each meticulously crafted and bursting with authentic flavours. The sashimi, in particular, was a standout, with high-quality ingredients and freshness. The presentation of the dishes was remarkable, and the restaurant also had an extensive selection of sake and Japanese beverages to complement the meal. Overall, Tobikiri is a hidden gem in the community, delivering an unforgettable dining experience for both seasoned enthusiasts of Japanese cuisine and newcomers alike.

A definite 5/5 experience, will come again!

Cozy family vibe, vintage decoration.
The food is so delicately prepared by the owners, appreciate there hard work for this busy restaurant.
Their sushi and tempuras are freshly prepared on order. The tempura prawn is so crunchy.
The mackerel grilled is fat and juicy, matched well with the salad.
The plates and bowls are aesthetic yet very cute.

This is hands down one of the most exceptional restaurants me and my family have ever attended. The food was incredible, not to mention the amazing customer service given by staff, and the most coziest atmosphere. If there was any place I would recommend to have a 10/10 experience I wouldn’t hesitate to mention this place. Ever since the first visit I have been obsessed, and I come here any chance I can get. This is the best restaurant in all of Sydney, and if you haven’t tried - you are missing out. I can’t recommend this extraordinary place enough.

First experience at Tobikiri was delightful. The menu is authentic Japanese with the typical selections. Quality and value is second to none in Sydney. It can be crowded but this is easily excused given how good every dish is.

This is our regular everyday Japanese restaurant. We come about once every 3 weeks. We found their sashimi to be always fresh. Great gyōza, fluffy prawn tempura, sear sushi is also great. That is why we keep coming back.

Tobikiri is one of the best Japanese restaurants in sydney, the chef has excellant skills and it is one of the tops. I have been regular for over 10 years, I can't believe some left bad reviews and want to ask if they know about good food honestly, if you don't know please don't leave any wrong info for others not to lose their chances to taste the real good food.

This is my go-to place for Japanese food in Sydney. Fresh cut sashimi, flavorful deep fried food (karaage, tempura, calamari etc) served at a great price for both lunch and dinner. For lunch you even get to have their potato croquette made in house.

The best part of Tobikiri is they post exotic ingredients they have for the day (uni, otoro, wagyu etc) on Facebook and that is the BEST TIME to get down there.

Make sure you book ahead for dinner or be prepared to wait for more than an hour. Grab a bar seat and buy the chef a drink if you can!

Loved it! Very good quality and not so expensive. I ordered the karaage ($8) and was pleasantly suprised that it came with a really nice side salad, cob of corn, and nice tartar sauce. Karaage was yummy and great value for the price. I also had the miso rice cake which is interesting and quite good as well.

Small Japanese home cooked style food . Deliciously executed and very fresh.
Only one waiter serving the whole restaurant but not too busy so it’s ok.
A lot of locals come and patrons are generally Japanese which tells you it’s pretty good n authentic 👌😋

We’ve been visiting since 2019 and it is one of the hidden gems in lower north shore, and if you want authentic Japanese. This quaint restaurant is operated by a small team - and because of that, waiting is expected.

The chef/owner runs everything by himself and holds high integrity in the food he makes - we are very particular with our food having to live in japan for a year, and his dishes always hits the mark.

It’s not a fine dining which is not what this restaurant is about but we will always return for the food - especially when it’s run by a true Japanese owner/chef.
