Superb views , everything was run professionally and no issues at all with anything .
My suggestion is to make sure you book your tickets online beforehand like we did . For both up and down trips time to suit you.
Makes life a lot easier as you are then guaranteed a seat on the trip time that you selected.

Even the drive to this point was breathtaking.

Price of a round trip is a bit on the higher side. 43 euro per person. But we dont mind that a bit.

It takes around 30 mins for one side. Vintage style travelling. Views around just keep getting better. Might be hard to climb in for people with some difficulty with legs. No arm chair support.

Note: you have to select boarding and returning time before hand. At the counter, they accept card payment too.

In all, if you can, don’t miss it.

There are eateries at the top. But carry some cash.

It is very good, interesting to go up with Schafbergbahn. Keep in mind that it is in the winter season, don't go to the top so you should hike there. And you should buy the tickets online in advance because usually the trains are full. Overall it is a great opportunity especially in the summer season when the train goes to the top, and you have nice views without any serious hike.

Beautiful ride up the mountain! A bit expensive, but I get why: the train station and the ride up are modern and smooth. We had no issues. Once up, I recommend staying around 2h and maybe do a little hike on the right side of the train station, as you look up the mountain.

Definitely worth doing. Views are amazing from the top. You can buy a one way ticket up and then walk down or buy a round trip. Walking down from the top takes about 3 hours depending on how fast you walk and how much you stop. We had to specify a time for the return but were able to change the time once we got to the top. At the very top is a cafe with outdoor seating. Great 360 views. There are a few pathways to walk around up top. Probably want to plan to spend time to walk around and take pictures or do some light hiking. For a weekday in peak summer it was crowded. Don’t have to buy tickets too far in advance but you might have to wait a couple train times if you do walk up in peak season.

Nice experience in a slow-moving train with beautiful scenery along the way. The view at the peak is beautiful. A must-do activity if you are around the region. You won't regret it with the amazing scenery you get at the peak. It's quite pricey as it costs euro 47.6 per adult but it's worth it. Need to book the descending train slot when you buy the tickets.

This rail station is Austria's steepest COG railway has been running since 1893 from St. Wolfgang up to the Schafberg. The train takes 35 minutes to cover a total distance of around 6 kilometers, rising around 1200 vertical meters. It is memorable experiences I am sure you will enjoy with your family and friends , the round trip ticket for adult is 47.60 Euro.

A fun and unique way to get up the mountain.
We went during peak season in August.
We went early to get the first train at 08:50 and to be able to park in the car park right next to it which fills up fast.
Had pre bought tickets online.
Views from top amazing and huge restaurant as well as other food stands.
Love the trains in the bright red, makes for good photos and video of them chugging up and down.
Made the mistake of walking all the way back down 4250 feet. A bit much!

Extraordinary trip by diedel or stean train to hill. More then 1190m up in 5.85km track. 26% track pitch. Need to minimum 45 minutes before train depart due to not enough parking space.

It was wonderful experience in my life and never forgettable. Mountain train was also very excited, I certainty come back to this beautiful mountain with my family.

Train is renewed still funny but lost the old color, Climbing up the hill, you can see may beautiful landscape and many insects inside and outside the train. But it's not the end, when you arrive and get up to the top, it's a war between you and the insects army..

A fun way to get up (and down if you like) the Schafberg. At times you can see how the cog track is going up the mountain. The pretty red trains give am amazing views all throughout.The views on top are 360 degrees. Just a tiny climb left to one of the two places to eat.
Last train down is around 16.25

This is a super experience on a cogwheel train. Just make sure the sky is clear so you have unobstructed views from the top. There is also a hotel on the top and a combo can be booked for stay and train.

The beautiful Wolfgangsee is stunning on its own, but going up to Schafberg adds another sparkle to it. The views from up there are amazing and the ride is fun for kids and adults alike. It takes around 35min one way. In good conditions you can also walk parts of the way. There are two restaurants on the top of the mountain where you can relax and enjoy a meal.

Amazing place, beautiful trains take you up to the mountains 35 minutes.
There you can see wonderful views, rest and eat and make a lot of photos.
One of the most picturesque places I saw.
