On the hike to the 5 fingers you have an absolutely stunning view of:
The Hallstatt town, the lake, and the remnant of the ice age, the glacier.
The attraction is very popular so it is usually crowded. We arrived late so, there were less people.
The walk to the 5 fingers takes you on a panoramic hike of 25 - 30 minute, the view is breath taking.
The way back is a a bit of a climb, so it might be difficult.
The whole experience is not cheap but definitely worth it.

Easy, well marked, paved trail leading to amazing views . There are 5 small overhangs that point in slightly different directions giving you great views and perspectives. We arrived on the first cabin and enjoyed being almost alone. This place will be crowded during the season.

Easiest way by which one can reach here is by taking two cable car rides and a walk of appx. 30min. on the mountain top. It's an amazing walk with wonderful views of valleys on all sides of the mountain amongst the moving clouds.

Amazing!!!! The view is phenomenal and the walk around the place is breathtaking as well. I can only recommend. The ice cave was a fun visit and is really pretty. We ate at the little restaurant at the top and it was a wonderful experience. I come here every time I visit Austria

Great view of the Hallstatt glacier, mountains, and lake.

The cable car cost is around 40€ for adults.

Must have experience! Five fingers itself is just a railing over the cliff, so if you are not scared of the heights, it might not be something special. Also, the glass in one finger floor was almost non transparent. But being on the top of the world is really coll experience!

This viewing platform gives stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the Dachstein Glacier, Hallstatt, and the Salzkammergut region.

You need to walk for 30 minutes from the starting point of the upper station of the cable card to five fingers.

On the way toward five fingers you will see a superb view of the lake and snow mountains.

They have placed benches on the mountains which will give great feelings and best moments.

Once you have dealt with the rude staff at Dachstein Krippenstein, rent snow shoes and take 2 x cable cars to the top. Once you are at the top, it is going to be a bit of a hike for +- 45 min over a couple of hilly areas to get to 5 Fingers.

The views are worth the hike. We visited in Dec where there was a thick snow blanket.

Return cable car ticket/ride and snow shoe rental at the ticket shot will cost you about 45 Euros.

Plan on spending at least half a day doing this, and soak in the views.

Note- remember sunscreen.
The whole journey from parking to the observation was difficult for us. 2 families, 4 parents, 5 children among them a one-year-old and nine-month-old baby and a 4-month-old baby, so you can understand the difficulty and the amount of equipment we brought (only the water.... Wow, how heavy the water was...).
Start with a cable car ride of a few minutes and then a walk of almost half an hour on a road most of which was bumpy which made it difficult for a baby stroller.
And as befits a mountainous area, the road had many ups and downs and some of them are a bit steep, especially with a baby stroller.
And then,
After all that,
You arrive at the observation point....
Wow Wow wow !!!
No more words are needed from here, look at the photos (15 out of about 268 thousand taken by all of us)
What a background, every photo is like a postcard, there are no regrets and we will surely come here again in the future and who even remembers the way up here? When everywhere you look you see a background for the desktop on the computer at work!
Amazing !

I cannot say in words how beautiful this place can be! So much to see and do up in the sky, you’ll not get bored.
I wouldn’t worry a lot about the weather as bow it can be rainy and 30 mins later sunny.

It's a must visit spot on Dachstein mountain but you have to walk. I recommend renting snow boots, which we didn't and had real trouble walking some spots.
The view is Awesome.

We visited this on 1st of May just before the cablecar got closed for the winter. We were told that is 2m of snow, but we managed to hike to 5 fingers in decent boots, no snow shoes were required. Amazing view. Must have to visit. I have vertigo, did not actually walk onto the fingers, but you can see the valley below from a few meters back as well.

Breathtaking! You need to take 2 cable cars to reach the top. You can buy tickets at the parking lot before you enter. The 5 fingers is 15-20 minutes walk with medium incline. Its really worth it, dont skip!

Very nice view, get your hiking boots if walking during rain time. We were there when it was sunny down the valley but when we were up, all was freezing and cloudy. Should've see the forecast before!
Anyway, was great.

Amazing observation deck with a breathtaking view! It takes about 30 minutes walk from the cable car. Beautiful and pleasant walk.
The weather is a bit chilly so be prepared 😁
Take into account that since it's high you need to be careful with adjusting the mountains height. So walk slowly and stop as you go up.
The view at the end is just unbelievable!

This place is after the 2nd cable car up. Then from the station it's about a 20 it so minute leisurely walk to get to. The path is generally cleared up so the snow has been pushed to the sides and makes it an easy walk without ice or snow on it (though you can veer off the path to play).

5 fingers itself does have some amazing views though it is weather dependent on the cloud cover. We got unlucky on that front with the view blocked, but we enjoyed the mountain views on the walk. Do try and plan it on a good visibility day.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited! Sky was clear, mountains were breath-taking, the walk to the platform was easy and I miss it so dearly. Definitely a must visit if you are nearby! Felt a bit like I was in the movie, Lord of the rings

First off, very beautiful place to spend the day. I didn't have much time so I just went to 5 fingers, but the whole area has so much to offer. Definitely reserve at least a day, maybe even a weekend. And definitely some extra cash, cause it ain't cheap. Around 40€ a person for the cable car ride. So come prepared ;)
But the view is worth every cent. Just check the photos :)
