Tam Coc Rice Fields Homestay

We loved this homestay! Dan is a brilliant host and a very funny, kind person. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Perfect location, away from the noise but close enough to the village. And obviously, we fell head over heels for the dog Van and Lucy. Big recommendation!

Price/quality is insane (less than 4 euros for accommodation and breakfast)! The owner is really helpful. He saved me when my bike broke down and when I couldn't find a way to my next destination. The accommodation itself is basic but really clean. Thanks a lot, Dante!

Took a chance on this homestay, I was very unfamiliar with the area and was serviced amazingly throughout my four day stay. The owner is incredibly caring and informative, makes the best pancakes I’ve had for breakfast (ever, not solely in Vietnam). It is in a great location that is close by to many things and great food + ATM’s which is helpful for a tourist such as myself. All the rooms are kept very clean too. 11/10 in my book ! And bonus, there are three absolutely adorable dogs that are so playful and cute. If you are looking for a place in Tam Coc to stay, this is the one !

Exceptional in all rating criteria for a value based dorm - where else can you find an accommodation this reasonable with a delicious breakfast including "Vietnamese' coffee for this price? Be prepared for a 10-bed dorm with one shared yet well-maintained bathroom/shower. Good for an overnight and better still if not fully occupied. Great helpful owner and the dogs ere adorable. 💯‼ recommend.

Dan is fantastic, really funny guy, him and his family work so hard to keep this place running. Great location in Tam Coc, short walk from some nice restaurants. Dan is also so helpful with advice and things to do around Ninh Binh. Overall loved my time at this homestay.

We had a really lovely stay here despite bad weather. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast is great. What really makes this place is Mr Dan, the owner. He is so helpful and will make sure you know the best ways to do any trips that you want to do. You really feel like you're being taken care of. He made sure that we were sorted and set for our bus journey and even took us with our luggage to the bus stop. He is great! Would really recommend staying here if you're in Tam Coc.

I really loved staying at Tam Coc Rice Fields Homestay! It was no trouble for me to check in at 4am in the morning, the breakfast was great (perfect fried eggs!) and awesome coffee. The owner Dan is very helpful and friendly and also speaks very good English, so we had some nice chats while my stay. There were very cosy blankets for sleeping, which came in really handy since the weather was rather refreshing. Additional, there are also two cute dogs to hang out with ☺ definitely would stay there again, thank you for making my stay so enjoyable, Dan! 🙏🏻☺

Our stay at Rice Fields Homestay was very pleasent and comfortable. It is a quiet place, no parties, no drunken British guests, who consider nobody.
Dan is an amazing host, with an incredible hospitality mindset. Always ready to help or give recommendations what to see and has a few good stories about local culture.
I did airbnb a few years long,and I was relatively good at it, but he does it on a completely higher level. If you want a good hospitality experience, and don't want to worry about being scammed, i definitely recommend him.
The breakfast can be repetitive if you stay longer, but this usually the same everywhere.

We also rented a motorbike from him, and he booked the bus ticket for us. He was kind to take us to the bus stop when we left.
I especially liked his stories.

I had a really good time at this homestay. Dann is an extremely kind host. The dorm is clean, the breakfast is good (I must admit I only had pancakes, every morning I had a sweet tooth) and the Vietnamese coffee was the best. I booked my bus ticket to Cat Ba through the hostel and someone came picking us up in front of the hostel. Very convenient. Also the view to the rice field is very peaceful. I would stay here again!

A perfect place to stay. It's near the city center but still quiet and you actually look at rice fields on the other side of the road. The homestay is clean and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Dan is a really helpful and cheerful host and his dog is super cute too. You can rent bicycles or scooters here and I also booked my bus ticket through him and he made sure I got a special bed and drove me to the bus station. Very caring and a great place to stay in Tam Coc. Thank you for everything Dan :)

Bottom line: Highly recommended!

Like many others we ended up staying a night longer. The homestay has really good vibes and seems to attract kind travellers.

The owner does everything with an open heart and will make you feel very comfortable. He is very supportive explaining the things to do in the area. Also you can rent a motorbike or bicycle. Last but not least, best value for money.

You should explore on your own. Go for it!

I had a wonderful stay here, Dan is a kind and highly accommodating host/owner. I actually arrived in Tam Coc earlier than expected from my sleeper bus and Dan found me outside at 5am and brought me inside to a warm bed even though I was not meant to check in until the afternoon. Was also lucky enough to be around the homestay when he had some family visit and he invited me to have lunch with them, which was a real treat! Highly recommend staying here if you want some peace but great hospitality. It is a great spot to centre your travels around the Tam Coc area.

Beautiful and quiet place to stay right at the edge of the town providing a nice view onto the rice fields. Private rooms are very well done and look inviting. The dorm room comes with everything you could ask for like curtains, lockers, sockets and a bathroom including a shower. Bike and motorbikes are available for rent, laundry service available, free pool table and free breakfast with fresh fruits and drink. The host Dan can give a lot of good suggestions on what to visit in the surrounding area and really takes care of his guests, he always has an answer for you and you can even book busses with him :)

We really enjoyed our stay here, Mr Dan was very kind and offered ginger tea and fruit when my partner had an upset stomach.
Quiet location just round the back of the main street. Clean and comfortable rooms, best fried eggs we’ve had on our trip for breakfast.
We missed Dan and his two tiny dogs when we left.

Best host I've ever had. Always friendly to guests and likes to treat them and give advice. Also, the hostel has some cute friendly dogs

Peaceful place to relax a few days in Tam Coc.
Dan is a great smiley host with a very calm character. He even remembers everybody's name ! The two small dogs are also very funny and sweet 🙂

Confortable dorm, cleanliness is on point and the beds are roomy and comfy (no hard mattresses here), with privacy curtains and locker for each bed, and good to mention, there is a window 🙂.
The garden area is really pleasant and big enough to just chill with other guests or read. The place is quiet at night so you can have a good rest.
Absolutely recommended !

Best place I've been in Vietnam. Friendly helpful host that speaks good english, give me lot of helpful advices about this region. Place is clean, peaceful with great view on rice fields and space covered from sun outside if you want to rest and relax. Two mini dogs guard this house so you can feel safe :)

I read reviews saying this was the best place to stay but of course was a bit sceptical before arriving…. But it really is. The best place I have stayed during a 4 month long trip by far. I was intending to stay in the dorm but it wasn’t available and the private room I was offered was only a little bit more expensive than what I usually pay for a dorm bed. It was pretty much perfect. The location is very peaceful and quiet, you get privacy but there is also the opportunity to meet a few other travellers and socialise. The bed was so comfortable, everything so clean. There was a table and chairs in the room I could use to work during the days it rained a lot. I intended to stay for 2 nights but ended up staying for 5. The owner, Dan, is extremely kind and makes an effort to make everyone feel comfortable; I was very impressed by his ability to remember all the guests’ names! He was always bringing us fruit from the trees in the garden. Beautiful place and host - 10/10

The homestay is very beautiful and super clean. Our bungalow was spotless. Dan was a lovely host that helped us organize our transport to and from Tam Coc and advised us on what to do in the area.
Highly recommended.
