East Restaurant by Ngo Thanh Hoa

Five stars to East for its impeccable food and service.
We came quite late on a friday night. The restaurant was quite packed and was accomodating a large private group upstair. We sat on the 3rd floor alone and was quite detached from the restaurant vibe. However, the chef came to apologize for the noise and that they couldnt sat us by the counter (although it was not his fault) . He even went above and beyond to compliment us with 2 desserts.
Now onto the food. Everything on the menu was Viet fusion. I loved everything I ordered here. The Japanese oyster at 100k/each was a steal. The fish salad, beef tongue and deep fried soft shell crab were deliciojs. The scallop risotto with sauce tasted like Tom Yum lol but somehow it ended up being the most delicious risotto I ever had. The grilled jowl was also our favorite - excellent choice of spicy&sour sauce.
The least favorite was probably the pan fried red snapper but somehow ended up like it was steamed; and the spicy miso sauce was a bit bland to our taste.
I will uncertainly revisit to explore other dishes in the menu! :)

Chef Hoa is one of the kindest people I’ve met in the F&B sector! He makes you feel like you’re home even when you dine there alone :)

A truly captivating experience with Chef Ngo Thanh Hoa's new menu, "Sum." The fusion of flavors explodes in an extraordinary Vietnamese style. Every dish, meticulously prepared and served by Mr. Hoa, reflects his dedication and expertise. My sincere thanks for this culinary masterpiece.

Loved it all the way. Open kitchen. Silent staff. Friendly and smiling service . But most of all superb cuisine. All dishes were original , high quality ingredient, special flavour and exquisite to look at. And so tasty..
Thank you also for special offer from chef because of unavailable chardonnay by the glass I got 2 complimentary alternative choice.

What an incredible experience! One of the most uniquely designed restaurant spaces I’ve seen. The service is great and the food is absolutely incredible! Every bite! Thank you Chef Hoa!

I had dinner at East Restaurant with my wife last night and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were lucky enough to talk to Chef Hoa who recommended our dishes, which were all great choices.
For starters, we had the Prawn Salad (Goi Tom), followed by Soft Shell Crab (Cua Chien) then Pan Fried Scallops (So Diep Ap Chao) . All very tasty and delicious.
For the main, we had the Pan Fried Tooth Fish with passionfruit sauce which I didn't think would go together, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fish was cooked perfectly and its rich buttery taste would have been enough, however, the passionfruit sauce gave it an extra zing. We also had the marinated chicken which was moist and tender. Yum! The perfect accompaniment to our mains was a bowl of truffle oil infused fried rice with bits of burnt brown rice.
For dessert, we had the sweet tofu (Dau Hu) and the "Stickie". Both good finishes to a great meal.
The portions were appropriate, the prices fair and the atmosphere was great.
Suffice to say, my wife and I really enjoyed the experience, and cleaned up ALL the plates.
I would definitely recommend East Restaurant and will be coming back.

This is an hidden gem of HCMC. In D3, East serves up a spectacular combination of Asian cuisine blended with great Australian and local produce. An extensive reasonably priced wine menu. This is a dining experience not to be missed

AWESOME, NEW, MODERN Vietnamese dining experience in the heart of Saigon.
Food: Seriously delicious, thoughtful and genuinely unique flavours which are all beautifully plated = ALL KILLER, NO FILLER.
Drinks: Cocktails (and the resident mixologist) are awesome - go for the signature faves! Wine list is also small but decent.
Service: Excellent with the whole team fully up to speed on everything on the menu, and Chef Harold is there to walk you through any questions you might have - like which / how many of the ALL delicious sounding items you will be able to fit in. We'll be back.

Had a great dinner here! The food was delicious! Could tell that the chefs put in much effort in preparing each dish. The sauce in each dish were pleasantly surprising and complimented the main ingredient very well. The service staff were diligent and promptly replaced our sharing plates. The bartender showed much patience trying to perfect the drinks. Too bad I cannot try all the dishes on the menu!

As someone with an eating disorder, I am frequently very anxious about eating at fine dining establishments, as it can be very embarrassing listing all my 'unsafe' foods and feeling like I'm an inconvenience. However this was not the case at East. My friend and I had a lovely chat with the chef, he made a recommendation based on what I can and can't eat and I enjoyed a beautiful meal and never once felt like an imposition.
And the cocktails were divine!

Chef Hoa has nailed it again👌 We were super impressed with every item on his menu, with flavors that were well balanced and soulful. He is an incredibly talented person with passion and a big heart. We will be back again and again 🥰🥰🥰

Food here is superb. Risotto is excellent, this is the most delicious risotto i've ever tried 🤩 the sauce for fish and beef here is unique. I will definitely come back here

I was on a business trip with several colleagues. I must admit the food was superb 👌 I enjoyed both food and atmosphere. The chef recommended very nice dishes to try, and they tasted so delicious. Always kept thinking about the fresh seafood dishes with enchanting decorations with veggie and wild mushrooms. I will certainly go back when I travel to Saigon.

We had lunch at the restaurant. The owner and head chef NGO Hao was very nice. He explained the ingredients of dishes carefully and precisely. The food was wonderful. I had dinner at AnAn, the only Michelin one star restaurants, the previous night. I will say that the food here tasted better with similar presentations, but less expensive. The services here is impeccable, which is much better than AnAn. I strongly recommend all foodies to try this restaurant.

Just a wonderful restaurant I went with Two friends and sat on the private area on the second floor. The point of this restaurant is the food, every single dish we had was a culinary masterpiece and a taste explosion. A must try !!

I was lucky to discover this restaurant. Had the lamb, it was the best cooked lamb i have ever eaten. Watching chef Ngo work it is easy to see that this is his passion and not just a job. He was very welcoming and his staff were nice to deal with. Truly enjoyed my meal here.
