Sam's West, Inc. (doing business as Sam's Club) is an American chain of membership-only retail warehouse clubs owned and operated by Walmart Inc., founded in 1983 and named after Walmart founder Sam Walton as Sam's Wholesale Club. As of January 31, 2019, Sam's Club ranks second in sales volume among warehouse clubs with $84.3 billion in sales (in fiscal year 2023), behind its main rival Costco Wholesale.
As of October 31, 2022, Sam's Club operates 600 membership warehouse clubs in the United States in 44 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.The only states where Sam's Club does not operate are Alaska (all three locations in that state closed in 2018 as part of a plan to close 63 clubs), Massachusetts (its last remaining location in that state, located in Worcester, closed in 2018 as part of a plan to close 63 clubs), Oregon, Rhode Island (the state's only location, in Warwick, closed in 2016 as part of a plan to close 269 stores globally, including four U.S. clubs), Vermont, and Washington (all three locations in that state closed in 2018 as part of a plan to close 63 clubs), as well as the District of Columbia. Walmart International also operates Sam's Club stores in Mexico and China. It has 167 locations in Mexico,[1] and 39 in China. Grupo Big, formerly Walmart Brazil, which was de-consolidated from Walmart in August 2018, also operates Sam's Clubs in Brazil. Locations generally range in size from 32,000–168,000 sq ft (3,000–15,600 m2), with an average club size of approximately 134,000 sq ft (12,400 m2).From 2003 to 2009 Sam's Club had 6 locations in Canada.

On January 11, 2018, Sam's Club announced the permanent closure of select stores. In a number of cases, employees showed up to work and found the doors locked and a notice saying that the store would soon be liquidated. Walmart eventually told Business Insider that 63 Sam's Club stores would begin liquidating across the country, including in Alaska, Arizona, California, Illinois, New York, Ohio, and Texas.

According to Business Insider, the Sam's Club closings and plans to convert some stores into e-commerce fulfillment centers as announced in January 2018 are part of Walmart's growing commitment to online retailing that will allow it to better compete with rival Amazon.

Personnel is always friendly. The lady checking the receipts going out was exceptionally nice. Isles are a little smaller than other sams. But they’re clean and very organized. Nice experience

🤔Sam's Club has Jumbo sizes of everything, frozen food, toiletries, cleaning items, H20, soft drinks, jewelry, rugs, clothing, bedding, in and outdoor furniture, and ect. Too much 🤪 to name. Favorite place to shop.♥👍🏽

I like the Sam's Club. I usually shop here but I send my wife and kids elsewhere like Costco or BJs, the main issue I have with Sam's Club is that the parking lot is bustling with homeless people who ask you for money. I don't have a problem with people experiencing homelessness but some can be dangerous bc of drug/alcohol abuse and I have had an incident in the parking lot where a man was sneaking up on me. I turned and stared at him before he got too close and he redirected himself, then paused and asked if I had any money... I gave him a bag of chips and he buzzed off with an agitated look

Sam's bakery cakes are always the best.. fresh, flavorful and can't beat the prices. Here I ordered a 10" cake & a 5" cake with cupcakes to make my own two tiered cake since they aren't making them anymore. All I did was add the animal decorations, sprinkles, candle and cake topper. *Imperfections in frosting are from my wild two year old's fingers* 🤭😂 10/10

They had such a wide variety of just about everything you could want. I was really impressed with the quality of items, and the larger quantity so I would have to shop much less often. Yahoo!

Long lines at checkout. Great prices on dog food. The same poor check out service. > Moving ahead, much better experience than the last time check out was fascinating compared to the last time.

Was in and out pretty fast , bought a braid Hibiscus, was $19.98 great price. I was a little bummed they didn't have the Member Marks $22.00 2lb bags of snowcrab they had b4 Memorial Day, it was great.They did however have another Brand 5lb box $59.98 $12 lb, haven't tried it yet.

Fully stocked and the store layout made shopping easy. The staff was friendly, engaging, and helpful. Additional checkout lanes were opened to accommodate the number of shoppers in line to checkout.

I actually was very impressed with this Sam's Club...the store was very clean, organized, well lit, friendly staff and lots of SAMPLES!!!!!! Im not sure if it was because of the day and time that I went which was a Friday at 2pm but it was not crazy busy, got in and got right out 😃

These days exceptional Customer Service matters! I just want to express my appreciation for Amber. Yesterday she didn't hesitate to get help for me with a very heavy item. She is so friendly every single visit! She is such a gem for Sam's Club! Amber, thanks for going above and beyond AND for being a shining light to others! Keep smiling!

Using Scan-n-Go really helps with time. Only downside is you can't purchase alcoholic beverages.

I came to recieve my pick up order. Had had issues with not receiving everything but still being charged. So I decided to check my order this time so I didn't have to return to pickup the items I didn't get or wait for a return. Ended up talking to David the manager.Omg I'm still in shock not only did he listen to me and understood my issue he took it upon himself to find the item I was told they didn't have. That is the best customer service I have ever received. He also compensated me for my troubles. I will continue to Drive from Lithopolis for this kind of Service! Thanks again for your EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Great deals awesome yogurt. At cafe. Awesome store. Lines were not to bad. They do offer scan and go as well as you scan.

While the location can be pretty busy, the facilities in and near are fantastic and there is no beating scan & go! I haven't waited in a line at Sam's for years. Always so much to get and generally in pretty decent stock position. My only complaint is having to show my physical card at the door.

Great place to get a delicious meal in comfort.

Very organized and associates seemed very professional. My only probably I feel is no one offered to help push my cart out or load my truck. People at Costco Offer help so that's the only difference

Great customer service, an associate had a large item located in the warehouse for us. Very friendly, social distancing markers in all checkout lines and all associates wearing masks.

Update- Very friendly and helpful staff. Most people still masked but not all.

Very good shopping experience as always.

Covid-19 guidelines strictly followed for customers and employees safety. I truly appreciate Sam's Club wanting to protect everyone.

I find great deals and it's always well organized.

The rotisserie chicken is always delicious!

I wish business plus members could have earlier hours rather than 08:00 am. My only complaint because I might not renew membership next year... possibly join Costco. Something I've been seriously considering.

Overall Sam's is fun place to shop.

I went there to get some small bottles of water..and other things..it was nice and people were friendly..I love holiday decorations...it is really nice there
