Fortress Bikes

Bike was kinda working well and Mr bike guy was nice. The trails were nice and smooth with gorgeous views. Finished the 3 mile track in just an hour, but the bike rental minimum is two hours. The price is not very high for a rental which works. I recommend this place!

The shop was clean and had a modern feel, and the owners were very kind! It was our first time on e-bikes, and they gave us thorough instructions and tips on trails. They gave us restaurant recommendations afterwards too, which we really enjoyed. Their hospitality and kindness made our day super memorable 🥰 100% would recommend - can’t wait to visit again!

Want to learn how to snowshoe ??!?!? I always have and was very grateful to learn for the First time today from Hal the owner of Fortress Bikes. Felt welcome from the moment I stepped in the door! Store has a modern feel with a great selection of well kept bikes. My wife and I had so much fun riding on the trail. Quite possibly the coolest place EVER! Whilst strolling through the Mayberry-esk town of Hurleyville, NY I stumble upon Fortress bikes. Bikes, rollerblades and even snow shoes can be rented for use on the epic Hurleyville rail trail. I was taken back to the days when my only means of transport was my pink big wheeled, basket laden bike with rainbow streamers on the handles. What a great experience; from the expert customer service to the fabulous views....I might even let my family join me next time. 5 shining stars for the crew at Fortress Bikes.

We had a great experience here! The owner was so friendly and gave recommendations of local spots to check out. We took a 10 mile bike ride on the rail trail and it was smooth & pretty! We saw some cool wildlife too

We were staying at Getaway Western Catskills and we’re looking for something to do and found this LOVELY bike rental store. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They have a great long paved trail right behind the shop. They even gave us suggestions for other things to do in the area when we were leaving! We would definitely go back and recommend anyone in the area to check them out 😇

Had alot of fun this weekend snowshoeing on the Hurleyville Rail Trail . So peaceful and beautiful . Snowshoes rented from Fortress Bikes just a block away. Highly recommend them. They also rent bikes and inline skates. Great new shop and much needed addition to Sullivan County .

Sullivan County has some of the best biking so it was great to find a shop that handles tuneups and flats. I’ve had a great experience at Fortress Bikes. Hal quickly diagnoses and services your bike and gets you back on the road. Highly recommended!

The rental bikes were perfect for the bike trails nearby. There’s about ~10 miles of beautiful wooded bike trail right near the bike store. You can see a lot of nature. Highly recommend! Price was reasonable.

After hearing my friends rave about Fortress Bikes and the fun they had, I decided to go and see for my self. I walked in and the place was immaculate. They had a wide variety of bikes hanging on the wall as well as accessories and snacks. The owner was very welcoming and helped me gear up for my ride. I was very nervous since I haven’t rode a bike in a while, but he was very patient and thoroughly explained the trails so I wouldn’t get lost. The equipment was great quality and the trails were beautiful. I had a great day and I will definitely be coming back!

Fortress Bikes is THE place to go when in Hurleyville! First, Hal was super helpful finding bikes for all our family. He was patient as we tried out different sizes and type bikes for all the riders (experienced and not experienced-one used a tandem the other a three wheeler) The path he told us to go on was just incredible. The views were stunning and since it was a warm day in the Winter there really wasn't a lot of people on the Trail. I will be back for sure to snowshoe in the Winter and can't wait to ride again in the summer. Thank you!!

We had such a great day this past Saturday, renting bikes from Fortress Bikes-- and spending almost 2 hours enjoying a delightful ride on the roughly 7 mile Rails and Trails paved bike path that starts right at their rental location. The owner could not have been more friendly or accommodating. The bikes were in such great shape, as were helmets and anything else you might need. The trail was so pretty- lush with woods, water, easy rolling paths and just an overall sense of beauty and well being. Recommend so highly if you are looking for bike riding and a couple hours of wonderful and easy outdoor quality time.

We finally went here and rented bikes from the amazing couple! They were friendly, kind and knowledgeable about the trails and their bikes. The ebikes were so much fun! I recommend that everyone tries those at least once in their lifetime. We will definitely be coming back to rent bikes again and try out the snowshoes.
