La Salumina is a culinary gem in the foothills of the Catskills. Eleanor and Gianpiero have created something very special in the quaint town of Hurleyville. Every time I walk through the door, I am transported back to some of my favorite parts of Italy. Their house made, locally sourced salumi is the best I’ve ever had. The emaculate store is stocked with an amazing assortment of Italian products as well as fresh made meats, cheeses, focaccia, the list is endless! Stay for a cup of espresso or cappuccino and be charmed by the owners passion for their craft and their customers. Going to La Salumina is our favorite weekend adventure. I also highly recommend their online catering option.

We were visiting family from upstate NY from Texas. We were told to go inside and check out this small, artisanal shop. This is a hidden gem and you really need to check this shop out. The owner explained everything in detail and made sure we were confident in our decision. They make all meats in house and the cheeses are made locally.

It's a little pricey, but you pay for the quality. It's well worth it.

Came back to update my review, and realized that I'd never left one...maybe I was worried that it would make it harder for me to get the amazing focaccia on Sundays :)

This place is truly one of my favorite shops anywhere - it's nearly impossible to find anything like it in the city with the combination of accessibility and quality. The owners are so charming and helpful, and always there - going in is such a happy experience. And you know that they put the same love into everything they make - everything they sell is of the highest quality. It is a very rare and truly wonderful place.

If you don’t stop here when you’re in the area, what’re you doing? I don’t drink coffee but the espresso, I think about it all the time. Love stopping by on our trips up to the area, some of the best ricotta I’ve ever had as well. You truly can’t go wrong with whatever is coming out of this little shop of meat. Can’t wait for their future endeavors

Ordered a small catering pickup of charcuterie plate and homemade focaccia for a small friends gathering. Everything was absolutely delicious and a big hit with friends! Looking forward to ordering again soon.

The best, sweetest, most knowledgeable, and passionate shop owners. Extraordinary selection of Italian charcuterie needs. Highly recommend! Also great for gifting <3 pastas, Salumi, olive oil, olives, capers, local cheeses, etc. They work with local farms and are filled with knowledge of their products inside and out.

La Salumina makes an incredible sandwich. Freshly made when ordered, the warm foccacia complements the fatty meats so well. On this particular Saturday morning, the sandwiches were porchetta ham with straciacella cheese and tomato, and a vegetarian beet and cheese. The foccicia is about a 6x6 square and the sandwich is served toasty warm and cheese is melty. This is a small shop run by a husband and wife team, so please be patient and kind and shop local.

The cured meat and salami selection is impressive. I wish I had more time to try more options other than the porchetta.

La Salumina also carries pantry goods imported from Italy, such as Sicialian lemon preserves, anchovies, olive oil, and tomatoes.

What a wonderful place! It is rare to find an artisan so passionate about his product but a visit to Gianpiero is time well spent - a carefully curated and enticing store, the meats produced to the highest quality and humane standards. Worth a detour.

What an authentic, cozy place owned by wonderful people. It's like a small piece of Italy splintered off and landed in Hurleyville, NY. There's an amazing selection of meats prepared in house, complimented by an array of cheeses, pastas, tomatoes, oils, and other Italian goods.

It's a place you absolutely should put on your list to visit.

So I was looking for a certain cut of pork and I called this amazing wonderful place. I spoke to one of the owners that are a husband and wife team and the wife told me at the moment they didn't have it but I should call back once in awhile. She was very kind and very helpful but alas they did not have the cut. Now skip to 3 weeks later after driving up and down the street I finally found this little part of Italy in our little town. I went inside and I was automatically reminded of a pork store in the Bronx. The owner the husband this time came out and I asked him for the cut of meat and he said he had it so I bought it. I asked to say hello to his wife so she came out she remembered after a while our conversation while her husband was cutting me pieces of dry sausage I should try and let me tell you they were absolutely delicious. After that I saw they had cheese and he had fresh borata and I couldn't believe it I bought it there were two inside the package and they were also delicious after I got them home. Before I left the place the husband asked me if I like pate I told him I've never had it before so he cut me a small piece of liver pate. Now there is something I hate it's liver but I'll always try something once I took a small bite of it and it was so good I ate the rest lol. After I was done shopping the owner offered me a small cannoli that he made himself and I left another delicious treat. All in all cannot express how wonderful this small but amazing little spot in Hurleyville is! If you're Italian if you're from the city and you miss the park stores there the fresh sausages and things like that you have to stop by this place even if you're not Italian the place is absolutely amazing and so are the people who run it!

My favorite source of olive oil, cheeses and pasta in the whole New York Catskills area. The sandwiches that they sell on the weekends are to die for. Heated up paninis with the most luscious veggies (I’m a vegetarian) padded in a gourmet cheese. Also the the owners know and love each thing they sell so I end up learning so much about the provenance of each product. If you enjoy meats, then you’ll really love this place. Delux and delicious!

Great place with friendly owner. They were very friendly to explain their products while making our sandwich and offered us samples. Great products, worth every penny. I highly recommend anyone to check it out if you are in the area. Also, check out their instragram page for all their wonderful delicious foods and products. (Caution! Don't do that while you are hungry unless you planned to visit the shop to pick up their yummy food)

Serendipity brought us to this fantastic little shop in the town of Hurleyville. The owners are delightful, and produce amazing Tuscan-style meat products from locally raised pork. Clearly, this is not an amateur production— they know what they are doing. The country pate is out of this world. Also great selection of US and Italian cheeses. I hope to order their charcuterie to Manhattan, where I live. Superb.

Outstanding product and wonderful people - Eleanor and GP spent years honing their skills in some of the finest kitchens in the US and Europe, and now make wonderful artisanal pork products. Don't be afraid to try products with funny names, it's all delicious! Update: now carries even more house-made Italian specialties.

I can't say enough good things about this place! First, Eleanor and GP, the owners, are literally the best - so kind and down to earth. Second, the food is to die for. All of it. On weekends they make sandwiches and focaccia that are the best food we've had in Sullivan county. They make charcuterie/cured meats and everything we've bought or tried has been so so good. We recently got finocchietta which is a salame with fennel and I could eat it every day. They also offer a lot of cool local things like beer, cheese and farm fresh eggs! Definitely a must visit in the area and this is our first recommendation to anyone who asks where to visit in this area of the Catskills.
