Absolutely love these stores we have one in Springfield as well but I think I like the Joplin location a little bit better the way it's set up the five stars all the way around they offer name brand clothing shoes undergarments you name it... Highly recommend that you get their credit card because then you get 5% and free shipping online all the time whether it's in store or online

Went to get an adult St Louis Cardinals baseball cap for a birthday present.An employee directed me to the exact place when asked.There were only two choices.The cap was marked down from its original price which made the purchase reasonable.Employees are helpful and courteous and the store is well laid out.I will return to shop there.

They had the weight equipment I was looking for, for less than other stores. Check out was quick, and they loaded it in to my truck for me!

prices for a little higher then other big retailers. but you can usually find what you need there.. most of the time your in & out fast

Came in right before closing to purchase items for dove season. The front desk associate, Emily, went above and beyond to help! My partner needed assistance looking up his Academy account- but she was extremely patient and kind. Truly best experience I’ve had at an Academy!

The store was clean, the staff was friendly, and the selection was vast. Even when it came to selecting a gift card there were so many styles to choose from.

I'm the truck driver that delivers their product and Joel the receiving manager is top shelf. Very good employee.

My sister and i are not from around here but were stopped in Joplin for the night while traveling. We realized that we had brake problems on one of our bicycles and stopped in to see if we could get help; one of the gentlemen who works here came out with us to our car to take a look at the bike even though he did not have to. The next morning we had found an issue with the seat of the other bike and stopped by again. Another gentleman who worked in the morning was incredibly helpful answering questions and helping us. Academy Sports in Joplin has some top notch employees.

We had to visit this store twice in our short trip. Both times the young men that helped us were so kind and went out of their way to assist us. I wish we caught their names!

I give 5 stars for the fact that they are "pet friendly," also help, while limited depending on location has always been helpful and friendly so far. Corporate needs to change some of their policies however. One in particular is allowing the special ordering of firearms you don't normally stock. Example, they don't offer any rifles chambered for .300 Win Mag. Not a big seller I understand, but at least make it available special order.
