The Avid Reader Bookstore

The Avid Reader truly made my day, week, or even year. I pre-ordered Iron Flame on Amazon months ago and when release day came and they delayed my order indefinitely I was heartbroken. That’s when I called the Avid Reader. The kind lady I spoke to on the phone totally understood my panicked state, my hundreds of questions, and answered them gracefully even when I repeated myself. She was able to reassure me they did have some copies left, even the special edition one I had been wanting. Not only that but the person who rang up my book was super understanding and made me feel so much better about this whole experience. They even gave me a goodie bag with stickers, a bookmark, and a temporary tattoo pack! I know the next time I need a book I’m choosing them! The incredible customer service filled with kindness and understanding has made me a loyal Avid Reader customer!

My favorite book store. Has all the popular stuff and indie authors. Great selection of small business items and very helpful staff. Never had a bad experience.

The Avid Reader Bookstore was the highlight of our afternoon! Amazing book recs for the teens (who now have noses in books and off devices), a candle that welcomed winter with the perfect light and scent, and a necklace I'd been hunting for at online department stores for a fraction of the price. A win all the way around. This one-stop-shop will literally fulfill all your holiday gifting needs (and self-care needs as well)! Ask for recommendations - you won't regret it!

The employees will drop everything and get excited to help you find the best book to meet your preferences. They share their favorites when asked and can advise you on gifts for anyone. I couldn't LOVE It more.

Lovely little bookstore in downtown Davis. It's so organized, and the selection is incredible. My favorite aspect of visiting is getting a Blind Date with a Book, and I'm always so excited to find out what it is. It's also a perfect place to pick up gifts like candles, stickers, and other novelty items as well.

I came here months ago and bought Jennette McCurdys book which was new at the time and my girlfriend had bought a blind date with a book. First off, we were happy to walk out getting books we were happy with at an affordable price and the atmosphere of the place was great. When I come back to visit my friend in the area, I'll make sure we make our way back here for another book to remind me of the trip.

There isn’t a better place to shop for everyone! Little gifts, souvenirs, planners, stickers, Knick-knacks, this place has it all! I love that it is an INDEPENDENT bookstore and they have a fine selection of children’s literature. I absolutely adore this store.

stumbled in here completely by coincidence while visiting around town a few weeks back, and couldn't sing higher praise if i tried ! the staff were so kind and welcoming, the atmosphere was super open yet cozy, and their selection was incredible. had TONS of great non-fiction works & I had a hard time leaving without a whole shelf lol. as all good bookstores do, they have a wide selection of novelties / stationary ( notebooks, bags, cards, mugs, etc. ) but not overwhelmingly so -- their artbook selection is stunning ! would most definitely reccomend if you just so happen upon the area. :-)

We had a baby 8n the family recently...I reached out to Avoid Reader on the phone for gift ideas.

They were super helpful on the phone, and even moreso when I went in.

Customer service is a ten!

Stopped by a few weeks ago while I was I'm CA, and this is one of the best book stores I've been to in a while. They had so many books- newer releases as well as older books. The prices were what you'd expect for new books, but they weren't outrageous like I've seen from other bookshops before. The staff was super friendly, and the store was organized and neat which made it very easy to find what I was looking for- and walk out with a bunch more I didn't plan on getting.

Sweet LOCAL book store in the heart of downtown Davis. Lots of paperbacks and droll gifts. Prompt, knowledgeable service as well.

This is my favourite book store in Davis. The book collection is always well designed. You can find new and vintage books here. The children's place is so cozy, my son sits there and reads for a long time. Thanks for this amazing place. ♥

A lovely well-organized local treasure with a fantastic selection, reasonable pricing, and a friendly staff. It's a frequent stop of mine for books, Blackwing pencils, and book darts. Give this place a visit, just beware: the aisles are a little cramped--especially if you're a large or wide person like myself.

Please frequent the small bookseller... I love that avid reader is more than a bookstore. Plenty of cool educational toys and trinkets. It's a favorite for Christmas shopping....
