In the age where digital screens dominate our daily lives, there's a sanctuary that beckons the true connoisseurs of the written word. Sundog Books, ensconced in the heart of Seaside, stands as a beacon for bibliophiles, much like a lighthouse guiding ships lost at sea.

From the moment one steps over its threshold, there's a palpable magic in the air, reminiscent of old-world libraries where every tome holds a story, not just within its pages, but also in its weathered spine and dog-eared corners. The shelves brim with treasures waiting to be discovered, from classics that have stood the test of time to contemporary masterpieces waiting to leave their mark.

The staff, guardians of this literary realm, possess a knowledge and passion that's truly commendable. Their recommendations aren't just based on bestseller lists but on genuine appreciation and understanding of literature.

Despite the modern world's hustle and bustle outside, within Sundog Books, time seems to stand still. A visit becomes a journey, an exploration of worlds both known and yet to be discovered. It's a place where stories come alive, and dreams are nurtured. A resounding five stars, for in Seaside, this bookstore is not just a place; it's an experience.

EDIT 6 months later:
These folks must read reviews and take them to heart because they now have the most well curated poetry collection in the area—with a ton of hard covers even. I also noticed a lot more collectible editions of classics in some beautiful bindings this time around. If you can make it in when the crowds are low, DO and get lost in all the wonders.

Lovely little gem with a few little gifts, a good selection of books, GREAT selection of hard cover books, AMAZING selection of cards, and friendly employees. The cost of the selection is space, and getting around in this shop is difficult if there are many people in it, and I think there are likely always quite a few people in there. I get a bit claustrophobic in situations like that, trying to find my way through people or to stay out of people’s way. Poetry selection is minimal. There’s a record shop on the second floor, but I didn’t check that out. I took one star off because of the space issue and the poor poetry selection, but if I could have given it 4.5 stars, I would have. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area.

If you're looking for new books or books with great unique covers, this a great place to go. Tons of paperbacks for beach readers. Some good hardcover books as well. A couple signed first edition hardcovers. No old, used, or antiquarian (for those wondering).

Only a handful of Christian or religious books. Literally maybe 3 shelves. Aside from that, for the size of the store they do have a lot of variety. Plenty of unique books.

I’ve been coming here for years and they always keep an active list of titles for locals and vacationers. The store is tricky to navigate due to the number of people who usually window shop, however they will help you find what you need and will always order what you can’t find. Great store! Definitely my favorite stop every time I’m in seaside and absolutely worth a visit.

Such a fun store to stroll through while you shop in Seaside. I have to stop at any book store when I find them. Nice air conditioning break from the heat!

Cute little bookstore in downtown Seaside! The book prices are reasonable, but everything else (crafty kits, journals, etc) seemed pretty pricey. That might just be the theme for this town, though. For the small footprint of the store, they seemed to have a pretty good variety of books.

FYI it is very often PACKED inside.

A beach vacation to 30A or Seaside, Florida isn’t complete without an early stop at Sundog books to grab a good read for the trip!
In a world of corporate books stores, there is nothing more nostalgic than getting to peruse the shelves of a locally owned book store. They had many great selections for all ages! I highly recommend!

Visit Hack: If you want to avoid the crowd and lack of parking during peak season , ride a bike or get dropped of at the back door! Also, make time for the record store and coffee shop upstairs! Forget all of the overpriced tees and standard souvenirs at the boutiques, opt for the many options of books about the area that they offer - this is one vacation spot that I am just fine if they take all my money! (Don’t forget to bring some extra cash for a sticker donation for the Sea Turtles of South Walton. Great Cause and Cute addition to any kid or kid at hearts travel sticker collection!

Such a great bookstore; for such a small looking building; there is a tremendous variety of great books. On the second story there is an awesome collection of vinyl!!

I adore this bookstore. The selection, the location, and the atmosphere are fantastic. I visited this store many times while staying in the area and rarely went in with any ideas of what I wanted beforehand, I always walked out with a stack of interesting and unique books I couldn’t wait to read. I also love this bookstore because I can take my dog with me! I travel all over with my pup and he loves getting to socialize and shop alongside me, this above all other reasons was a big motivator for me to shop here and kept me coming back! Thank you for allowing well-behaved pups to join in on the adventures!
These days the only way small businesses can compete with the big retailers that undercut pricing is with experience - because I so enjoyed the experience of shopping here I didn’t mind paying a little more for books.
*The only area for improvement would be on the customer service side, I understand that they can get very busy with a lot of people wandering around (especially on weekends) so I don’t expect them to constantly be greeting everyone but even during checkout the staff was quiet and not very friendly.

Lovely ship, perfect for browsing. Best not go if you are looking for a specific book, they are not often in order, but great to get inspired if you don't know what you want to read next

Independent book shop, with books stacked pretty much everywhere. Staff recommendations, good selection of different genres incl young adult section, contemporary literature, science fiction, and quite a few others. Awesome place to do holiday read shopping.

I live this place so much! You always need a good book at the beach, and they most likely have it. The kind employees will help you to find any book you are looking for. I couldn't find my book the first day and when I came back they already had a new stack delivered! I bought 5 books on one trip! And their sticker collection is super big.

Such a cool bookstore. Chock-full of books new and old. There's bookmarks, cards, stationary and notepads, the typical book lover's add-ons. Don't skip the logo merch toward the rear of the store! Bonus- there's a record store upstairs!

Love this store! Very cozy, and have different sections than most bookstores! My favorite was the Southern Fiction. Seemed fitting as to where we are :) lots of kids books, and other activities. They also carried calendars and other neat items. A very one of a kind book store!

This has got to be the best and busiest book store I have ever seen! There is something there for everyone, and even a chance to get signed books from Authors
