Morgenstern's Bookstore & Café

Morgenstern's Bookstore is the best local bookstore in Bloomington! The environment is calm and refreshing and they have SO many books. The staff are so happy to help when I can't find what I am looking for and their Café has very yummy drinks. My go-to spot for buying a book! If you love books and a cozy atmosphere, this place is a must-visit. Happy reading! 📚☕😊

Went with my wife last weekend and the place was hopping! They were having a book signing party with an author. Grabbed a mocha at the coffee shop inside and browsed the shop while sipping. The atmosphere was fun and the selection of books was fantastic! They had a schedule of events on a chalkboard near the coffee shop with all the events scheduled. If you like books and or coffee, highly recommend stopping by.

Phenomenal small bookstore. Actually, I hesitate to call it small, more like mid-sized. They pack a lot into a relatively small space. Has every major category that I'd expect to find at a Barnes & Noble, just more curated. Their displays are attractive and mix in a lot of well-themed non-book merchandise. Their giftware and original art by local artists and crafters makes it a solid gift shop as well. Nice selection of bags/tees/gifts from Out Of Print. Great café.

I really enjoyed my experience here. The staff are super friendly and helpful! Though I didn’t get a chance to partake in their cafe it was hopping and looked good, plus there’s plenty of space to set up a laptop to work or study. They have a good selection of books, though sometimes there is only 1-2 copies of a specific book. They have signed copies of
Popular books which is neat. And they have a robust kids area. Even the bathrooms are nicely painted and clean! Love this local bookstore and would go back again!

Very nice staff, nice kids section, amazing selection of books, nice areas to sit down sattered throughout the store and great coffee. My partner and I love coming here. My only complaint is that it's all a bit overpriced but I don't think that's something they have power over. It's a great spot to sit down and hang out or study!

A very nice place to go shop at.
Had really good chicken noodle soup with bread.
They had cucumber water that I had never tried and it was real good.
They could expand there repertoire of Star Trek and Star Wars books but over all a really great place.

Molly and Jenna are incredible staff!
They were so helpful and kind to us and our children when trying to find some new books.

I'm an out-of-towner but always try and make it a point to visit when I'm in Btown. Wide selection of books and gifts, relaxing vibe, and the cafe/bakery menu is delicious. Downside is now I think of Valentine Morganstern every time I'm there, but I suppose I can let that slide ;)

This is the place I missed in Bloomington. And I took too long to figure out it exists. The book selection is divine and wide spread and the whole atmosphere is spot on. Cafe has the best selection of drinks and bakery products. I expect to be here more and more.

Amazing place to shop for books or to work in their cafe! Every employee has been so kind and helpful. Their coffeeshop is my favorite in Bloomington.

They have the best drink specials, I can always find something there I love, from books to puzzles to notebooks to vendor made items everything is stocked with love and care

The size and layout of the store are just right...well organized and enough space to have the top books in each genre. Also, the selection and presentation of the books is ideal. I like how they display the cover and not just the spine in many instances. It makes it easier to read the title and gives you more information about the book at a glance.

This is my happy place. Even when it's crowded it doesn't feel that way. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

This store is very cute and has lots of different items to choose from. There's definitely something for everyone and the cafe food was very good. This was a perfect place for me to sit and study!

The service here, whether in the café or the bookstore, is fantastic. Any question I had, someone was there to answer it. And they're friendly, too!

They say that you can tell a lot about a place when you go into their bathroom. I found the most amazing mural unexpectedly on the bathroom wall today upon entering this throwback bookstore. I proceeded to order a cup of the broccoli cheddar soup and it was served piping hot with a healthy size of bread. As I pulled out my laptop and started working and waiting for my next meeting to start the owner Rick morgenstern came over and we chatted a little bit. What a nice fellow and it's such a great experience being able to be in a bookstore and interact with the actual owner. It's a labor of love for him and his family. The staff here really enjoys working I'm sure and I enjoyed meeting with Mitch today to go over there website and offer a few suggestions. It was very busy today and there's definitely good reason why. This has to be the top bookstore in Bloomington and it's nice to support local business. Definitely will be back as it seems to be a great place to work with the super fast internet. Thanks for everything you guys do.
