Every time I go I always find what I need! The people who work there are very nice and knowledgeable on herbs and spices and about their effects. I never leave empty handed since I always find what I need!

Awesome!! I love this very unconventional store,that carries 99% of anything that you may need in groceries/meat/cheese and their products are National and International!!

If it is a UNIQUE item, you can probably find it on the shelves at Ruben's Grocery.

No, it is not the most modern store in McAllen, but it will definitely have the most LOYAL clientele because of the uniqueness of their product lines.

I love to come to this market because they have food from all over the world. I also get nutrition tips to better my health from Hugo, the owners son. He is so knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. I highly recommend this place.

Lots of various and hard to find specilty groceries. Including herbs & nuts, botanials, phytomedicines. Regular goceries can be bought too. My wife was exspecilly interested in their naturopathic products. They have products from all over the world. Semi-busy when we were there but not like you'd think, owner and staff busy helping people but not hecktic, hard to explain. Had a lively buzz, active engaged activity. Had a good vibe but need some patience if you want some personal attention. They make time for every one. I recommend it! Should check it out for yourself to see if it is right for you. A place for real Foodies and professional chefs. The owner once or twice a year travels to quite a few countries finding new or just great prices for international foods wines and spices. Ruben's grocery is known for placing special orders from internationally and at a great price! I cannot praise this restaurant enough! There is quite a few formally and traditionally trained chefs in the valley and many of them come to Ruben's grocery in McAllen or Tokyo Asian market on North 10th Street for all of their International hard to find Foods! In the picture I have made a 24 fluid ounce bold of takatsu beef bone broth and pork belly seared Ramen. Complete with cilantro bean sprouts leeks garlic turmeric freshly cracked peppercorns and a bunch of my secret spices. I used a really high quality rice noodles completely gluten-free that I got from the Tokyo Asian market. One of the best places in the valley to get international foods! And of course local favorites! Got to support family owned small businesses like this!

This place is awesome to shop at. I really enjoyed the detail and thought put into making a store of this caliber. They really do have products from all over the world.

As a child I remember Mr Cavazos as our neighbor for many years his wonderful family always helpful and attentive. The boys Ruben, Felipe and Hugo we all went to school together. Ruben's groceries one of my favorite places to visit because it takes me back in time when as a child we used to go and get our Barbacoa or Meats for Sunday dinner it's a place I hold dear. Talk about hard to find items. This place is a meat place, grocery, and etc. of not so common items. This place has great things to make teas and shakes for a healthy life style. They also have some exotic fruits that I've never heard of. Worth a visit for rare foods.

I've been looking for This Knorr Tomate in HEB , Walmart in San Juan Alamo &Pharr and Couldn't Find it !and Mr Melendez Brought me here To Ruben's and I Found it 👍🙈👍👍🥰 so I Bought 2 lol Thank You 🙏

You can definitely find almost any type of spice that you're looking for. And they have a great stuff always willing to help out

Great customer service and very welcoming. My wife is colombian so I come very often to buy things for her here. If they don't have it, they will get it.

This small super market Can provide you with ethnic specific groceries, specially central and South American ingredients as well as dried foods and Latin tools like a Molcajete or a plantain press

Always enjoy going to Rubens Grocery. The meat market they have there never fails. Great quality meats every time we go. Plus it brings back great memories of when I was a child and my mom and grandmother would take me there for their shopping. Definitely a historical landmark in my opinion and a must for anyone looking for good meats and specialty foods not too many others will offer. Just go and check it out for yourselves!

This is one of those good small hole in the wall markets. Ruben is a very nice, exuberant and energetic brother in Christ. When you come here you feel completely welcomed as part of the family. He has some normal grocery type things and a lot of what he has is fully organic. Definitely recommend this place.

Spent several hours driving to various stores looking for Rose Water without luck. Decided to try an international foods type store and Ruben's was the closest on my map. Not only did I find what I was looking for, but I was also able to purchase other specialty items I normally buy online. Staff are super friendly, will definitely be back.

Ruben's has the best of the best most purest form of powders; raw, organic, non-GMO superfoods... They have a tremendous large selection from all around the world... Unlike anything I've ever seen before... They treat you with kindness here and you feel special with the one on one interactions....♥
