Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op

I joined The Ukiah Coop in the early 70s. Yes, Ukiah Natural Foods is still cooperatively owned. I am member number 48. I remember when it was next to the railroad tracks and it was called The Homestead Exchange. We could order fruit trees, and get staples, like brown rice at a cheaper price.

When I visit Ukiah, I like to drop in to the "Coop" and see what is new or whom I might run in to. It is a great place to run into old friends if you become a regular.

I love that you can buy things in bulk, and bring your own container (and keep plastic out of landfills). They have bulk honey, oils, nuts, seeds, beans, herbs and spices, and even sell shampoo, and essential oils in bulk. They have beautiful displays of organic fruit and vegetables. You can buy prepared foods and eat inside their new dining area. Or get a really great coffee drink or smoothie.

If you don't live in the area, you might want to make a plan to drop by and see what you might find.

We watched shark tank one night and we found the item here. Praise God

Just moved to the area and as I was missing Whole Foods, co-op quickly replaced it. I’m amazed of all the awesome, natural, non toxic products / brands that I was able to find. I’m impressed and at the same time, in love!

Staff are friendly and helpful, even the other customers are! And the produce is local and top notch. Great quality meats and bulk items!

Beautiful store with a deli and seating! They don’t stock everything- I think they ban gmo foods- not my choice but I can get some of what I need here and Safeway is right across the street!

Local farmer market that I love to come here for fresh best quality and variety of produces. The staff are kind and helpful.

This beautiful store has everything I've been looking for!! I live in Clearlake and cannot regularly get a wide selection of this type of food there. Even at Whole Foods, in the Bay Area, I find that the things I used to shop for are less and less available. Most important to me is an excellent bulk section! Bulk is the best way to economize on natural items that are higher-priced. Buying bulk also allows me to use my own containers, reducing the ridiculous quantity of plastic we have to bring home from a typical grocery store visit.
Many natural supermarkets have really reduced the selection of items available in bulk. Not the Ukiah natural foods co-op!! I found at least one variety of every grain, legume and nut I could think of. In some cases locally grown varieties are available. Look for the multi-color Mendocino quinoa ❤
At the grinding machines, in addition to peanut and almond, cashew butter is also available ($8.99 a pound for organic cashew✨✨).
On the way out I decided to get lunch as well, and found the most delicious vegan sushi I've had in years. The Brown Rice Kameko Roll featured the mix of vegetables, including marinated, cooked shiitake. The sliced roll was topped with a spicy sauce and a green sauce which I was crazy for, but couldn't identify at first. They were spice and basil tahini 😍.

The co-op is dedicated to providing local organic food and products. Café and kitchen preparing house-made fare daily. Coffee and juice bar. Hot and cold food to dine in or takeout. Great wine, beer, cider, and plenty of other beverage options. Great staff. Open 7 days.

Everyone has always been polite. But if you go make sure you order from their little cafe area. Their food is amazing!!

This store has several different options for vitamins, other med, healthier choice of food. It has a deli place. Veggies.

Love this location. They have anything and everything in vegan, non GMO, gluten free, organic, grass fed, range free, and all at fabulous prices. The deli is a nice treat too.

This is the only store I can find Penny Farms blueberry goat cheese without having to drive to Bonneville to Penny Farms. Wide variety of fresh fruits & vegetables. Nice store.

Always clean, great variety of fresh fruits and veggies. Keep an eye out for their sales as it’s definitely on the pricier side. Huge selection of supplements and coffees. Looking forward to seeing the remodel finished!

Lots of good stuff here, many fresh and packaged goods as well as bulk and special orders. Fresh made food at their deli and salad bar as well as an espresso and drink bar. Knowledgeable and friendly staff throughout the store. Downside is parking can be full of crazy people and bad drivers.

the produce, cheeses, meats, everything is a great selection, I am always happy when I walk into the store, the staff is amazing! They are helpful, cheerful and love what they do. I want to give a big thank you to all the employees! Shannon, Marlene, Jimmy, Tracy, all you guys make eating local healthy food fun! I used to hate going to grocery store, not anymore!

The words I like to use to describe the Ukiah Co-op would be All-Star Fantastic!! it is by far one of the best natural food stores in the country. They have everything you need for a healthy diet and all the organic produce to give you energy throughout the day. I live 60 miles away and I still shop there because I know how important it is to support local business.
The fresh OJ and smoothies are top notch. And the weekend oatmeal bar serves up personalized hot oats. Very filling and delicious.
