I love the staff and selection at Big River Running! I always get my shoes here. And recently I received a hand written thank you note from the store manager. This must have taken him so long to write thank you's to everyone who came in during their sale. Really awesome customer service to keep me coming back!

I would return to Big River Running whether I love the shoes I purchased or not, simply because of the great customer service. If you have a specific support need from your shoes, go to Big River Running.

Stopped in at the suggestion of a physical therapist because of their complimentary gait analysis, and I am so glad I did. Even though I went in close to closing time, Emma was patient with me and all my questions. She took the time to explain different aspects of the science of my walk and the shoes and didn't rush me on a decision. Thanks for all your help!

Big thank you to Kasey. She listened to what I needed and made suggestions and showed me a couple of pairs of shoes, tried both pair on and walked out with the best fit. I will not go nowhere else from now on to buy my Brooks running shoes. They also have a great selection of other shoe brands too. Thank you again Kasey.

I stopped by for a new pair of shoes and needed to be refitted since it had been about 7 years since the last fitting. I didn't catch his name but he took a lot of time and asked a lot of questions and was able to zero in on a perfect combination of shoe and insert to help my knee discomfort. Can't recommend enough to get a fitting done here if you have any discomfort from running or walking, they will help figure it out using an electronic pressure pad, measurements, and even testing out on a treadmill. Give them a try.

UPDATE: I brought my 10 year old daughter in to get fitted ahead of joining the Girls On The Run program. Still great.

To keep this short Kaisey, greeted me immediately on my arrival. Listed to what I wanted and footwear problems. Measured my feet, in minutes reappeared with 3 different shoes. I tried them all on, and the inserts she recommended. 7 days later, feet and hips no longer hurt while taking long walks.
I would not have believed this if I read it but it is very true. Thank you Kasisey and Big River.

It happens so rarely these days where an employee puts incredible service above speed of service. Mike, you made my day, got me the shoes I was searching for and customized the experience by adding the no tie laces; no, not just selling them to me and making me learn the whole process but actually installing them on the shoes. I was so floored I told my kids and now I’m sharing it with the world. You knocked the cover off the ball, great job!

Jeanine (if that’s how you spell her name) was an absolutely fantastic salesperson. Upbeat, helpful, knowledgeable and what you look for when you go to a store like this. Not really pushy, but so nice mannered to pass up giving your store a sale.

I’ve never shopped here in person, I live in another state. But ordered on the phone because this is the last company that had a discontinued running sneaker I love. They were super kind and helpful on the phone. They shipped my order out the next day. And then about a week after my order arrived that a note came in the mail from them saying they hope my trail shoes are working out! Really amazing customer service. :)

I was in desperate need for some new shoes! Called and left a message on Sunday, March 29 at the University city location. Received a return call on Monday from Salesman Mike.. He was able to look up my information from previous purchases. He was very courteous and very knowledgeable. He help me order some new shoes, and they were delivered to my door approximately three hours later. I have been very pleased since my first Purchase there! I would highly recommend them to my family and friends! Great people and excellent service!

I was hesitant to go here. We aren’t runners naturally but with COVID we thought we would use our extra down time to refocus on our health. I was having some pain and thought it was worth a try at buy proper running shoes. Sarah was great! She fit both of us to perfection. She realized my pain in my knee was coming from unsupported high arches. With the right shoe and inserts we are both staying committed. I’m a deal seeker by nature and knew we were going to be paying a lot of money. But when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised when I priced matched them to Amazon and found they were charging the same price for everything we bought. So it felt even better to know that I wasn’t paying extra for the customer service and technology that really made sure we walked away with the right shoes for our feet. While it was a larger investment for us, it still felt like a deal because there is no way I would have gotten the right shoe or insert from Amazon or any other big box store. I was also pleasantly surprised to feel so welcomed. We aren’t runners and we are definitely considered plus size. It didn’t matter. I felt that our body type was considered for proper fit but I never felt judged. Overall it exceeded our expectations. Sarah even followed up with a thank you card. Would recommend 10/10!

I purchased Altra's today and had a great experience. George helped me and totally let me geek out over a few pairs of other shoes (I'm a running shoe geek). The store was clean and all of the staff was ready to be there and help. I did have one minor issue in regards to my shoe, nothing related to the service, and the manager called me and squared it away ASAP.

I'll be back- it was worth the trip for my family and I to travel from the Illinois side.

On 02/09/2022, I came to the University City store just before closing and the manager, Mike Flynn, set me up with the perfect hiking shoes for all my particular needs. I will be hiking the Camino de Santiago this spring in Spain. He took a great deal of time and demonstrated exceptional knowledge. He was very kind and courteous. Here's the thing. After all the time and considerations, it was determined that the store did not have my desired shoe nor could Big River Running Co order it, but Mike informed me that I could. He helped me order the shoe, on my phone, then and there.
Fortunately, at his store, I was able to buy some excellent hiking socks and insoles that fit into my shoes beautifully.
I can't say enough how positive the experience was! Hope Mike had a good marathon in Florida!

I am not the typical person who goes to a fancy shoe store to buy shoes. I am more of a buy shoes on sale kind of girl. Unfortunately I have had some foot issues after a bad break and I now need a specific kind of shoe. Big River Running was recommended to me by a co-worker. First thing I noticed was the impeccable service! I was greeted right away, offered a bottle of water and felt well taken care of the whole time I was there. Right up until he held the door for me as I was leaving. The salesman brought out 4 pairs for me to try. The first one he suggested was the pair I bought. He was right on the money! The second thing that was unheard of to me was that if I was unhappy with my shoes within 30 days I could bring them back, even though I had worn them outside. So many times I have bought shoes that felt good at first to then wear them for a week and realize they hurt my foot. Now I am stuck with an expensive pair of shoes that I will donate because I can't wear them. From now on I will go to Big River Running to buy my shoes. BTW, the shoes the salesman picked out have been perfect. I can get through my day, all day, on my feet without pain!

Big River Running Company has a very knowledgeable staff. They also have very good quality shoes. Their staff will take the time to sit down with you and listen to your concerns. They aren't pushy when it comes to selling you stuff either. The shoes that they sold me are the most comfortable and most supportive shoes that I've ever had. I would definitely reccomend Big River Running Company to everyone.

Customer service is a huge deal for me. I'm an inexperienced runner and the sales associate Mark didn't hold it against me instead he welcomed myself and a friend with opened arms educating us and encouraging us on our new journey to fitness! Great experience, professional yet warm and welcoming staff, great store and location! Keep it up!!!

They're ridiculously helpful/knowledgeable and just good people. Nick was awesome. I got some shoes that wound up irritating a hip injury and it took me a few weeks to figure it out... He helped me find a new pair and exchanged them for me despite the fact that I'd been using them for weeks. Go here.

I needed new shoes for home workouts, so I called to ask for suggestions. I would never have known to consider the Brooks Launch 7 without their help. They ordered the shoes for me online, which arrived in two days, and my knees felt great during my next workout. Thanks to Michael for his advice!

Great service, very knowledgeable employees. They aren't just trying to sell you the most expensive shoes on the market, they genuinely want to help you find the perfect fit. It's nice to see there are still companies out there with true customer service in mind.
