Big Upps Jamaican Caribbean Grocery Store

Never knew about Big Upps until a recent quick stop in Natomas. First thing I immediately saw, were the patties! Beef, chicken curry, and veggie options. Wonderful! Very warm, flaky and crispy dough with spiced fillings! Great hospitality and I can’t wait for my next visit.

They are the best place to go for your Caribbean foods, drinks and seasonings. The owner is so friendly and very helpful. They also have the best and fresh beef patties. The variety they have is amazing!

I walked in two minutes before they closed and was greeted so kindly! I didn't feel rushed at all.

Green bananas that were REALLY fresh and reasonably priced! So hard to find green bananas! Fish + green bananas is my husband's favorite combination and now I have a place right here in Natomas.

Hmmm....I bet they sell green bananas by the 40 pound box. I will check next time I have a need. Then I can share with my friends. I will update if they do.

They had other fresh produce as well as kumala (Japanese yams), sweet potato, garnet yams, fresh tapioca, plantains, etc. Lots of Islander food.

Please keep this diverse store in business by shopping here. I am sure they take cards, but in these small shops, I try to pay in cash so they don't get charged the fee by the card companies.

They are a tiny bit hard to find as their store front does not face the parking lot. You have to walk around to the side of the building on a nice sidewalk area to get into their front door.

Best beef patties ever. Bought some to take home to reheat later. Lots of seasonings and other great buys. I also got some pineapple seasons drink, some oxtail seasoning, and some plantains. So happy I found this place.

I drive here all the way from Reno just to grab some beef patties. Best beef patties I’ve had anywhere. Better than most restaurants serve. Cool honest owner too. Thought I had a problem with my purchase and he kept the store open a bit longer so I can come back and sort it out.

Great people and great vibes. I went there to interview the shop owner and an employee for an article in a local newspaper. They were very enthusiast to answer questions and really helped me out! Very hospitable people. They also gave me complementary soda and a Beef Pattie for just interviewing them.

The owner "Knowledge" is a very nice and hospitable guy! He has hot beef patties ready to eat (similar to empanadas), cold Kola Champagne to wash it down with, and a variety of groceries for your Caribbean dish needs. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended for all your Jamaican food and ingredients. The Patties and variety of drink choices available are unmatched by local competitors. Customer service and hospitality is superb. I recommend u stop by @ your earliest convenience.

Ask about the veggie and chicken empanadas! Cheap and super filling. They had 2 veggie options. Spinach or Veggie. Also have frozen options I always keep around!
