Red Mills Market

As a kid growing up in Mahopac, I remember my parents shopping at Red Mills Market a couple of times a week. They would stop on their way home from work or after one of our practices to pick up a few items. Unfortunately, after I got married and had my own kids I did not keep that tradition alive. I knew the Market had changed owners a few years back, but I had only been in the store a handful of times since then.

This past Sunday, my wife and I needed to grab a couple of things for dinner after my kids' soccer matches. She didn't want to go to Stop and Shop because the shelves are usually picked clean by the end of the weekend. It was around 17:00, and Red Mills Market was on our way home. We weren't sure if it was open that late on a Sunday, but we figured we might as well check it out. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it was open 07:00 to 20:00, seven days a week. The store was clean and all the shelves were fully stocked. My wife said all of the produce looked fresh, and she was surprised by the wide selection of precooked meals, deli meats, and store made salads. Even though the Market has that "Mom and Pop" feel, their prices are inline with the larger chain grocery stores.

Going forward we will definitely be stopping by Red Mills Market to supplement our weekly grocery shopping. My wife likes to buy fresh produce to use within a day or two. The Market is a more convenient option than the big, chain grocery stores are for her to run in and get fresh produce and a couple of random items. The fresh, pre-made meals in the deli section are also a nice option for a quick meal on the nights my kids have practice. It's also nice to support a small, local business that has been a part of the community for decades.

Red mills Market is an old time neighborhood grocery store. You don't have to walk a half mile from aisle to aisle to get what you need. Great place to pick up a few niceties when you need them

Amazes me that the prices are so competitive with the big supermarkets. Some things are less. They are open later than DeCicco Family Market.

Best neighborhood market ever. I want to thank you all during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Always a friendly smile from all. I feel fortunate to have you in my neighborhood.

The potatoe salad is a hallmark of my youth and a staple to any Mahopac BBQ! This Market exemplifies my home town's vibe and community that I adore !

New owners recently purchased this small but complete market.
Look for new products, and updated departments to add to the already nice mix of deli, meats, and bakery offerings.

Friendly deli/convenience market that sells beef by the pound, cold cuts, fried chicken, wings, onion rings, jalapeno poppers. The have a bakery section for hard rolls and loaf breads, donuts, cakes and cookies by the pound. They also have a freezer section for ice cream and other frozen fare. It's been a local staple for my family for 4 generations.

Cool small market that has everything you might need. The bakery and the deli sections are great.

Friendly, local shop...great selection of fresh foods and even some organics, competitively priced, can't beat the convenience, pleasantly surprised and would recommend
