La Tiendita: Tortilleria and Marketplace

I’m here visiting ( I live in florida ) my family lives here in St. Louis , And wanted to cook a Mexican meal for them . They have never had freshly made tortillas before so I googled tortillas near me and turns out this store and tortillería was super close to my sisters house . I made carne Al pastor , rice beans nopales and the fresh tortillas were a hit , i just warmed them up on the comal . They were perfect . I will definitely be back .

The food is authentic and fantastic, and they have a small counter you can sit at if you want to eat there! Homemade salsas as well. The store has a great variety, and the prices are pretty fair. They were super nice and answered all of my questions as well. Highly recommend supporting this small business!

My wife and I eat lunch here weekly. She gets the Chicken flautas and I typically get the salsa verde pork flautas, but I love them as a gordita as well. The pork with red sauce is a good choice too.

We love to try some of the yummy groceries. They sell some of the best chips ever. Check out the ingredients. Corn... that's it. No artificial flavors or preservatives.

If you need tortilas for a recipe at home, buy them here. They are fresh and don't crack and break like store bought ones and tamales....

I love this market they are always so nice and friendly. They have a great variety and are well stocked I always grab some awesome fresh real chorizo every time... Then I would give another five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the tacos OMG 🤤

El milagro tortillas are awesome ! Visiting here makes me feel like home bc they have lots of products from Mexico 🩷

Fantastic place if you are in mood for street tacos. The owners/ staff is very friendly and cheerful. The beef tacos I got here was very good -- way better than Mission tacos and places like that around St. Louis.

My wife and I finally got to stop in for lunch. We each had a carne asada, pollo pibil, and a barbacoa taco as well as a salsa verde (pork) gordita.

The food was fast, hot, and amazingly delicious. The tortillas are made in-house and you can tell.

There was a shaker of oregano and a verde, and a red salsa available to accompany. Each was complementary and tasty.

The service we received was top notch as well. It was our first time and our hostess (owner?) was friendly and explained the menu, made a couple of recommendations and made our experience a treat.

We're already looking forward to coming back again.

I'm from San Diego near the border so moving to MO I've had a hard time finding real Mexican food. I went to La Tiendita and they are my go to for tacos. Best tacos I've ever had in my life. LOVE the staff . You guys don't know what your missing. You better get in there ! ❤

Eva is so nice, tacos were excellent. They offer other fare of course, such as flutas and tamales.
I recommend.

OMG! I just had the most AMAZING taco's! We had the Salsa Verde and Lengua tacos. We also had the Frijoles Charros. It was all amazing! I'm kicking my self for not having tried the food at La Tiendita sooner, It's so close to me that I can easily walk there. I have been there in the past, but a the time they were only making fresh tortillas and selling dry goods. I'm not sure when they started making these lovely mouth watering taco's , but I sure wish that I hadn't waited so long to go back... OMG they were SO GOOD!

I went here for the first time looking for Mexican chocolate. I went shortly after eating lunch, but upon entering the store, the smell of cooked food was so enticing, I decided I had to order something. I ordered a pork taco. It was excellent. Very fresh, good blend of tastes. The woman/owner was delightful; very friendly and helpful, as was her husband when I called him the previous day.

I am telling you these are the BEST corn and flour tortillas I have ever purchased from a market. The corn tortillas are made right on premise with imported corn flower from Mexico. All natural, with no preservatives and perfect for the gluten free diet. They taste so much better from other corn tortillas I have purchased in grocery stores that you question if the others are in the same food group. The flour tortillas are so fresh, rich and decadent that you will never want to buy store brand. The owners and staff are extremely helpful and friendly that have given me tips on prep for the tortillas and other recipes I have tried. Grab some tacos freshly made when you are in there as well. As my friends from Southwestern US and with Mexican lineage have said to me, they are the best in this area. I couldn't agree more.

Best kept secret for Tacos. Owner is extremely friendly and the food is awesome. Fresh made tortillas make this the perfect taco. We took home a dozen homemade tamales which were also delicious. I'll be back several times per week from now on!

Stopped by to check out this place. Nice selection of Mexican groceries including salsas and hot sauces. The specialty is the corn tortillas made fresh each day. I bought them fresh and warm and they did not disappoint. Best kind of tortilla for grilled meat, fish, chicken... or just plain served with beans. Next time I stop by, I am trying out some of their homemade fresh tamales.

What a gem! Phenomenal food, exceptional value, and delightful staff. With regard to the 1-star comment below, which I think is absurd, I would rather they privilege making things fresh in small batches and run out rather than lesser quality with greater availability - show some patience - definitely a west county customer... Best kept secret in St. Louis. Make sure you try the tamales.

I love this place. More for their kitchen than their store shelves. Awesome authentic street tacos, to-die-for tamales, and fresh tortillas you can take home. Great people too!

Got prepared masa for tamales and fresh warm corn tortillas (so good)! Great tacos and other food freshly made. Highly recommend this store/restaurant.
