Carrs

I guess this carrs is known for being in a "bad part" of town so my friends and I did some panic shopping here at the start of the pandemic (March 2020) and it was great, they were well stocked compared to the rest of the stores. I end up around that area when I visit Anchorage so I often do some grocery shopping here. In my experience, the staff are friendly, it's not busy, and I never have any issues.

Carrs gamble is always a convenient one-stop-shop. I love the small store atmosphere. They hot food deli is always great and their Spicy Chickens trips are always the best. I don't know what they do different than the other Carrs but these have a higher quality and flavor. Not to mention, the employees at this location are helpful, kind and down to earth. Thank you!!

Nice little store, although they could use more carts. Went in today and there weren't any, so I didn't get as much as I had planned on getting. EDIT: I have been in a few times since my original review. I must have come in on an off day which happens in retail. I have had zero issues finding carts since then. Your staff is friendly and that's appreciated.

The best Carrs in Anchorage but “best” refers to the absurdity of the experience which is full of wonders. That being said the staff are super hardworking and deal with incredible things I couldn’t even fathom before.

One of my favorites,even though Carrs had to cut hours at the store I go to, they have still tried to make your shopping experience as painless as possible, the employees are still as courteous as they can be, and I've seen people be as rude and hateful as they can be,and the employees grin and bear it,they get the fifth star for that,so here is a shout out for the employees at the Carrs on Gambel,keep up the great work and thanksyovnl. This is a rough neighborhood, but the employees here make you feel like family. I have had security or "bagging" employees offer to accompany me out to me vehicle more than once. The selection is good. I often find high demand items here when they are sold out elsewhere. I like this store.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Carrs had a good selection of goods. We buy non diary foods and found the selection well stocked. Interestingly they are part of the Safeway & Albertsons grocery group, so I even was able to get the in store discount.

Staying at Renaissance, a short walk worth every step. Had a platter with rice and beef pork, excellent. Wife had wrap with same meat. Certainly no scant on serving size. Would return if in area again or any place I see another. No disappointments here if you like gyro type food.

Great customer service, polite, respectful, welcoming, amazing greetings and departures. Food fresh, easily approaches to items. Definitely reliable employees to advocate for self on location of specific groceries and or other things that need assistance on locating items. In other words employees know the job they're doing

The store is clean, well ordered, well staffed and secured. All the staff I interacted with were friendly, helpful, professional and personable... the fact that the location is better than 40 years old just added a little charm to the store.

The store itself has good deals like any cars. The selection is decent for where it is at. And it is usually clean. If this store existed in a vacuum it would be 5 stars for sure.

However. The location. As numerous other people can attest to, it is surrounded by: homeless, unemployed, dangerous, and smelly beggars. If you are brave or strong or don't feel like you personally are going to be victimized then by all means go ahead. If you are older or frail or uncomfortable being heckled then go elsewher

DO NOT LET THEM GUILT YOU INTO BUYING THEM ANYTHING.

This Carrs doesn't deserve 5 stores at all, it's a ses pool, full of Anchorages finest. There are ways to be homeless, there is no dignity. However the 5 stars are for the employees still sticking it out in that hell hole. They always stay professional, maybe not with great big smiles but they are never rude.

Besides being in a area, that's has many homeless people and some with mental problems! Do to the fact there's a program in that location, that helps and assist many of this people. I give the Carrs in this location more than 5 star's, for having a clean store, and very friendly good attitude from all of their employees. Thank you for staying on this location. No, the Carrs located in Fairview is not a ghetto groceries store. I have being in ghetto stores outside of Alaska, and trust me it doesn't look like this Carrs. Who ever the manager is.Keep up the good work! I love this Carr and shopping in it❤

Super old school, yet clean and friendly. Amazing floral department.

Awesome store! Love the friendly service and nice people. Very helpful and had everything I needed. I recommend shopping at cars for your groceries or household items! Wonderful experience! I live up the road from carrs so I come here a lot. I've never had any problems. Come check it out! you won't be disappointed either!

Nice store nice staff but can use some attention with price changes, customer service they seem to be short handed. Especially with all the traffic that goes on there.

I have been a Carrs shopper my whole life, make sure you get their app "just4u" to get all the best savings!
Update: the app is a total pain! I don't want to have to jump through a ton of hoops while I'm in the store shopping! Ugh!

Again Carr's is super clean and classy. They make shopping simple somehow even fun, even for those of us that dislike grocery stores. Carr's makes it very easy to find any item you could imagine.

This is my favorite Carrs. Staff is always friendly. Close to my house. And got what I need. Don't let the panhandling and the occasional parking lot outburst from the loiter..ers outweigh the benefits of going there.
