Montana Rifle Company

I don't believe any company buying out another company and keeping the original name is responsible for mistakes or defects from the first companies products. The rifles have been redesigned which is not only reflected in price but detailed build quality and knowledgeable staff that know how to run a semi custom gun business. Kalispell MTR was mainly lacking in organization, occasional quality control and most of all public relations. I was fortunate to aquire an outstanding 6.5 creedmoor extreme x3 from the Kalispell co. It groups better Than many customers $5000 - $7000 custom rifles my clients owned the 23 years I guided hunts in Montana. This is my 10 yr old grandson his 1st two shots ever with it at 100 yds off bags, no sled. He killed his first whitetail this year with it so giving it to him. I'm getting a new one from MTR in Michigan. I understand your frustration but no company selling any product should be expected to warrant the mistakes of a differejunt product sold by different owners of a defunct company just because they carried over the name.

I originally purchased a .300 WM from MRC that was not functional but had a "lifetime warranty". (The bolt had a friction point that rendered the rifle as a single shot, essentially.) After MRC reopened its doors under new ownership, I sent a claim and question about the warranty and got this cookie cutter (and not helpful) response.

Sorry about the delay on your email. We are still working on getting Montana Rifle Company back up and running. That being said we only acquired the assets of Montana rifle company after they closed their doors. We will not be able to warranty rifles from the original Montana rifle company rifles. Please work with your local gunsmith, to see if they can do any work to help with your rifle. If they have questions, please have them reach out and with any info we have. Thank you for reaching out. "

How does a boutique manufacturer expect to keep and generate business when they won't stand behind a product that bears its name? It very much seems that this is a poor costs savings measure of a decision that will ultimately risk losing cliental and faith in the brand, and I would offer that right out of the gate (before they even start selling), this is not a brand you can trust to have your best interest in mind. Go with a Weatherby, Christiansen, or another reputable manufacturer that will stand behind [ALL] of their products. If you didn't want the legacy products, why did you keep the name.....just so you could claim the ones that worked?
