Politics and Prose Bookstore

Last night's author launch of Ciera Burch's debut book, Finch House, was amazing!! What a talented writer, I can't wait to read my book and see what more comes from this thoughtful talent!

We visited this bookstore for the first time today. It was lovely. The staff were super knowledgeable and friendly. The book selection was amazing. I can't wait to go back.

I have been going to this bookstore since I was a kid and it’s always a treat! The curation is fantastic - if I’m ever in a book slump where I have nothing to read, I can go here and easily find a bunch of books I’m excited about. Some good games, reading accessories, etc and a nice sale section as well. They have great author events (held at the back of the store with the lovely windows facing the trees behind it, so peaceful) and even a good cafe downstairs. I was a big fan of the children’s section setup when I was a kid. I highly recommend this location!

In Washington DC, a great location and has an excellent selection of books. Has coffee shop and seating for book reading and signing.

A good book store, nice staff and the bookstore is a pretty good size with a good selection of books. In the basement is where you will find a coffee shop/café. There is a decent amount of seating if you want to work or sit and eat. Despite it being in the basement the lighting down there is good. I had a chai and an oat bar. Both happened to be very good.

Excellent book store. Excellent coffee shop and cafe downstairs. Cafe gets very busy, seating at a premium. Customers and neighborhood is a bit yuppyish, but that is not the bookstores fault.

This has to be one of the better bookstores in the DC area. In fact, it's more than just a bookstore- if you need more than a bookstore. There's a cafe here as well.

I think the thing I was most impressed with was the staff. They are kind and friendly and most of all they really know their books. My kid got a great recommendation from a kind woman, which was very useful since he is not really a reader. Maybe now he will be.

I'm just a huge fan of this place, their selection of books, and their booksellers. Could spend hours in the stacks. My only possible complaint is that the membership fee is incredibly pricey, but totally get that independent bookstores need the funds. I also adore the downstairs cafe; great atmosphere with solid wifi and a fantastic staff.

Fantastic local bookstore. Children's section is exceptional. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

In one word; "Wonderful". My god; where have all the real bookstores gone📚? This one truly is a place for all ages with its variety of books & energy brought on by those that come for the purchase of the book or for a book reading by the author....or both🤗; which is why we were there today. "Politics and Prose Bookstore" allows the reader to feel comfortable and confident when looking for a book suited to one's liking. The staff are fabulous and the vibe is intoxicating. A must see place to go to to experience for yourself.

Great book store for almost anything you like to read. They also have a café that looks very tempting.

Favorite place for a flat-white, for browsing, and for buying books.

No one ~really~ needs to be told this, but Politics and Prose is one of the best bookstores in DC. Of course, it is not as "hole-in-the-wall" or small sized as some other really great books shops in the city, but it is still one of my favorites. The different locations are also a benefit to different residents and visitors! I do love their shop at the Wharf too. Feels open and new. If you're visiting the Connecticut Ave. one definitely check out some of the local eateries around there too!

This is a wonderful bookstore with a wide selection of adult and kids books. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and great special events.

Great bookstore, lots of selection, and they even carried books on my list that are less common. I was able to buy those titles and find some other items to add to my list. The store is pretty big and has lots of different well stocked sections to browse. I would definitely recommend visiting if you're looking for a specific title or just to wander the store.

Excellent bookstore, especially for the DC area, where sometimes these stores don't have enough space. The selection is broad and includes both good quality science content and classic literature, which I sometimes find hard to get at local bookstores. The curated selections are interesting, with nice writeups by employees. The selection of toys, games, and puzzles makes it a good place to look for small gifts as well. The coffee shop is fine and offers a nice place to sit and spend some time.
