I highly recommend this store to anyone who loves music. I listened to a song at Stereo Stereo I've been listening to my whole life and heard beautiful details in the song I had never heard before. What a treat! Michael, the store owner, has been in the business for decades and is extremely knowledgable about audio equipment, from headphones to music streamers to speakers, turntables and amps. I feel like a new door has opened for me to enjoy music in an elevated way that will enrich my life for years to come.

Michael at Stereo Stereo is by far one of the most knowledgeable players in the Hi-Fi sound business. I was extremely fortunate to be able to spend a Saturday with me at his store educating me on the various styles of set-ups that would work best for my home and budget. Michael helped me along the way to ensure I have all the equipment to properly install my Hi-Fi setup. No one is more passionate about educating and providing his clients with the most up to date knowledge and ample demonstrations of his equipment. Whether you are just getting started in Hi-Fi or have a history in it, Michael has knowledge and expertise for everyone, to help tailor their listening experience. The Pittsburgh Hi-Fi community is in good hands with you and your team. I cannot wait to stop back in and listen to more vinyl. Thank you again for your kind hospitality!

Michael is best. He made calls and emails to track down a product I needed. His price was better than anywhere else in the country. That is just added value considering the above and beyond level of communication and customer service.

I visited the store while shopping for my first set of speakers. I was immediately greeted by Mike, who actively listened to my budget requirements and limitations. He pointed me to a set of KEF speakers that I immediately enjoyed listening to. I went back to the store the following week and purchased the KEFs after listening to some records and chatting for a bit. I’m very much enjoying my purchase and can not recommend this store enough. Even though I was probably one of the lower budget customers to walk into the store, Mike was very willing to work with me and answer any questions I had. He is a pleasant guy and an honest salesman. Go sit, listen, and enjoy!

Incredible experience from start to finish.

My wife and I walked into the store on a whim and were blown away with both the function of the retail space and the introduction Michael was giving us to some of the available products. We decided to go with his suggestions for our home media room. The final product is something that we will enjoy for years and years to come. Every step was great from the initial walk-in, to the in-home consultation, the in-store presentation and eventually the installation.

Working with Michael at Stereo Stereo was fun, engaging, informative, and sonically rewarding. Here’s a relatively short description of my experience:

After getting a new DAC, interconnects, and power cables, and deciding to get a power conditioner/regenerator, I was ready to hear the speakers I'd been considering for the better part of a year. I called Michael, whom I had heard about in Stereophile magazine, confirmed he had what I wanted, and set up a time to come listen.

From that first phone call, Michael took an interest in me, what I was doing with my system, what “kind of sound” I liked, and my history as an audiophile and music nut. (He also loves music and has a sense of humor, so we hit it off in those respects too.) He answered and asked a lot of questions and offered advice. And though we discussed the merits of gear that I wasn't necessarily there to buy from him (e.g., power conditioners and speaker cables), he never tried to convince me to "upgrade" or spend money on anything that wasn't going to serve my goals for 2024.

I did buy the speakers, and Michael came to my house to set them up, which took a few hours. He lent me a pair of bi-wired cables, which I did not buy. We’ve checked in several times since and all is good. The speakers are sounding better and better every day — and I haven't even moved them from where Michael placed them (cue laughter).

I should mention that the speakers and stands I bought are not big-ticket items; by audiophile standards, they are inexpensive. But I feel as though I got the same attention and service as somebody who spent 10, 15, or 100 times more in Michael’s store. I never felt like auditioning, understanding, purchasing, and setting up my humble standmounts was less important to Michael than setting up a pair of much, much more expensive speakers.

So, I happily recommend Stereo Stereo. It wasn’t just the novelty of being inside an actual “stereo store,” though that was big fun. It was also about being able to have a dialogue with a like-minded, knowledgeable person who understands the mania, speaks the same language, and is willing to slow down to help you achieve your goals (or get as close to them as possible at the given moment in time). Go check it out.

Michael and his team were phenomenal to work with! I was there over three hours and they patiently demoed a bunch of high quality gear. I especially enjoyed their philosophy of building a system vice selling me a component. They were VERY knowledgeable without being high pressure! It was actually fun!

Stereo Stereo is one of a kind in the Pittsburgh area. I’ve been researching headphones online for awhile, but nothing can replace the ability to stop in the store and find what you like. Michael spent an hour showing me the store’s selection and giving me information on various equipment. I was able to try several different headphones and pick the songs I wanted to listen to. It’s refreshing going to a specialty store like this and not feeling pressured into a sale. Michael has a storied history in the Pittsburgh audio scene and I would highly recommend anyone interested in high quality audio products visit Stereo Stereo.

When so many luxury retailers seem to demand a credit report before wanting to talk to you, Stereo Stereo is a breath of fresh air! Mike is one of those rare audiophiles who is willing to talk to you regardless of your level of knowledge. He is exceptional at explaining complex technology and concepts in a way that I can understand, yet he was able to “geek-out” with my companion and he clearly knows what he’s talking about. The store has 4-5 separate listening rooms, each set up like a home living space, which provides a reasonable approximation of what a system might sound like in your home. If you’re in the market for an audiophile level system, you owe it to yourself to visit Stereo Stereo and talk to Mike. You’ll thank me later 😀

Awesome store with an even more awesome owner. Michael has an outstanding knowledge base and great ears. He can help guide one through some of the very best high end audio equipment one could hope to own in a comfortable environment. He can do it all ( home theatre) but my passion is two channel stereo and I was blown away in his listening environments. Highly recommend that music lovers / audiophiles visit this high class store.

If you're a newbie like me to the world of vinyl, this is an amazing place to learn from people who know what they're talking about. Michael, the owner, was so kind and generous with his time as I was looking to upgrade my entry-level turntable. He demonstrated some of my favorite records for me, and gave me solutions to the issues I'd been having with my previous setup. I came into the store unsure of what I was looking for, and left confident with new knowledge (and a new turntable!), and I'm excited to take my vinyl hobby to the next level. The store itself is so beautiful and clean, with plenty of places to sit and listen to great music- I could have spent all afternoon here. I'm looking forward to returning soon and browsing their well-curated record selection!

Stopped by today after noticing the sign. I’ve always wished we had a high end stereo dealer and showroom in Pittsburgh. What an amazing place! Just the sort of equipment you want to demo before buying, an excellent showroom with quality set ups. Michael, thanks for taking the time to show me around and demo those Wilson’s. I’m going to be thinking about those for a long time!

I love this place because it's like Disneyland for audiophiles. The multiple customized listening environments enable you to properly demo a great selection of amazing components. Expect to spend some time here and enjoy the personalized experience. For me, I wasn't sure which turntable to buy and Michael spent time with me to help me make the best choice for my needs and budget. They also have a thoughtfully curated selection of records for sale that you will definitely want to browse.

Michael is extremely knowledgable and helpful. He was able to help me narrow down exactly what I wanted from my speakers and amp, and I ended up with a great-sounding setup. The store is beautifully set up and there's a large assortment of gear to demo. If I'm purchasing any hifi equipment in the future, I'll be sure to stop here first.

Was driving through PGH on a long road trip. Stopped for lunch at a place next to Stereo Stereo and just happened to walk by. Decided to check it out because I wanted a break from the road and I’m an audiophile... best decision I ever made. Micheal is a great guy, incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. BEAUTIFUL store - it’s really a pleasure to be inside. The store has a range of products, none of them compromising quality.

Hands down the best HiFi shop I have been too. I am slowly stalking my next system upgrade and the team at the store has been super polite and helpful. The willingness to demo anything you want to hear is extremely welcome. A+!
