Fountain Avenue Market

It's a great little market with a pretty eclectic selection of west coast craft beers. I was surprised to see Elysian and 10 Barrel in a little spot like this, but there they were, alongside a very good variety of Lagunitas and others. The best part was that the clerk advised me to pick up a six pack of a particular brew rather than a 750 ml, based on the pricing, which he knew for both to the cent. For me, the pricing was in lone with Bevmo and K&L, so if you're in the neighborhood, and need some good craft, then just walk on over and get some of the good stuff.

- Friendly employees, well stocked beer and wine and simple basics like milk, cheese, cookies, sugar even bread. I come at least once a week.

Excellent remodel, A+ asset to the neighborhood. Wide selection of product at fair prices. We need more places like this and less 7-11 rat holes.

This is a "mom and pop" type of neighborhood market. It went through a change of ownership not that long ago and the new owners did a nice remodel that entailed knocking out large portions of the front wall to create large windows. Since the place did not have any windows before that, it gave the market a much more open feeling and of course brightened up the interior as well. Like just about all neighborhood markets, you can find a mixture of wine, beer, soda's, cleaning essentials and assorted food and snack items. The idea behind these type of stores is convenience. If you forget to pick-up a cartoon of milk when at the grocery store or if a friend stops by for a visit and you need a bottle of wine or some beer to catch up in gossip with, this store is just a quick walk down the street. Keep in mind that convenience comes with a price though. Items here are going to be more expensive than at the grocery store or a large convenience chain like 7-11 but that is understandable considering that the owners have to make enough money to pay the bills and earn a living simply on the sales they make from the one little store. They are nice people though so if you live in the area and need to pick up a few items you forget to get when doing your grocery shopping, give this place a quick visit. It never hurts to support the local small businesses every now and then.
