Best Beauty Supply around, and I’m in Santa monica,So I don’t have to travel miles to get my favorite Redken shampoo., and all the color I need to Color my own hair. The owners and sales people are the best. Great gift place for Children’s accessories, Barbie things, purses. Gifts galore for everyone. The place is loaded with unique items. Check it out.

When you walk up to the storefront, the incredible window display literally draws you inside.

The staff is VERY knowledgeable on products and skincare and they are more than happy to give you advice or suggestions for different budgets.

Besides hair and beauty products there’s also makeup, lots of candles and soaps and you would not believe the amount of incredible gifts in this store for either yourself or a friend!

Do NOT miss the large backroom, it’s filled with so many amazing things, including really unique and high end childrens clothes, toys, gifts and accessories! There are even amazing pool floats! It’s really a fun experience to visit this store.

The ONLY downside is you come out with things you had no idea that you REALLY, REALLY NEEDED!!

This store is NUMBER ONE in quality and style. It’s in a very nice area pleasant to walk around and easy to park. The owner is so sweet and kind she kept her store open for me when I arrived right as they were closing. I found a new hair stylist whilst shopping in the store bc right next door or rather a couple buildings down the street is a really nice hair salon…inside the store there are an innumerable amount of great product lines and adorable cute bags, purses and other hair supplies etc. # ONE!!

Reminds me of all my pharmacies that used to be on the ues in nyc. Best place to source French pharmacy products and every cult/somewhat niche beauty item

Number One Beauty will always be the #1 beauty supply store to me. I've been buying almost all of my personal products as well as gifts here since they opened in the 80s. I joke the owners that we are all growing old together. It is a family run business. The owners, Mercedes and Jack, are the most wonderful and caring people you'd want to know, and many of their customers proudly call them family as well. They are loved and cherished by all of their customers because they go above and beyond the norm in stocking the finest and highest quality beauty products including make up, every aspect of hair care, the finest hair brushes, and the most esoteric accessories you didn't know were essential to your well-being! If there is a problem, they take it back, and if you want something special, they'll order it. The store is run beautifully and wisely, it is very organized and if you can't find what you want, they'll get it for you. What more could you ask for?

This is the best source for hard to find skincare, hair and beauty products from Korea to France. They have the best French hair clips, which are really hard to find and every skincare line you could imagine- from natural (Odacite) to medical grade skincare lines. They have my favorite hair care line- Christophe Robin. And they sell Hanky Panky lingerie at the register too! The staff is super nice and helpful. I love this secret neighborhood gem.

9.29.18: update: Still my favorite place to get advice and products.

2017: This place is a treasure in Santa Monica. The staff is very knowledgeable. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. And they carry products you will never ever find in the more commercial places like Ultra. For example, they are the only beauty supply I have found to carry Brett Freedman products. His eyebrow products are better than any other. And they have a special line hair products that have saved my swimming-every-day hair.

This is one local business it is very important to support. Besides having an incredible array of products, they know their products, and they take the time to know you and your face, and your needs. You'll see them outside all the time checking the makeup a customer just applied in the sunlight to be sure they got it just right. This is a good business run by the kindest most caring people. I offered 6 months ago to give them a yelp review. And here it is. Finally! (and I didn't change my opinion in all that time lol)

PS I just read the review saying the owner is not good to the employees. There must have been a reason if something odd happened. If you want to know how the owner is just look at his employees. If they go out of their way for you and have good spirit, believe me, their employer is a good man. I have watched their interchanges for years. That must have been a very odd day.

I used to live in Santa Monica for 13 years and loved to go to Number One...now I live in Culver City and I travel the distance to continue to shop there. The owners are lovely people and very knowledgeable about their products. They carry every company and product imaginable. If, you need Beauty Supply products, this is the only place to go. The sales people are very helpful but the owners are the best for obtaining valuable information. Number One is Number One!!!!!!

I really, really, really love Number One Beauty. It's located in an active, bustling part of Montana Avenue and has a selection that will blow your mind. This is basically my dream bathroom cabinet come to life!

Everything is fairly priced and the store is immaculately clean and organized. You'll often see an associated dusting the shelves. Jacques has owned the store for two decades and has true expertise in the beauty lines he carries.

The team at Number One Beauty treats clients with respect and customizes their recommendations based on your needs and budget. They are all chic, knowledgeable and well-appointed. Skip Ulta, Sephora and Amazon and head to Number One Beauty for a truly personal, local experience. This is the way beauty shopping is meant to be!

Pro Tips:
- There's a small parking lot behind the store which is free with validation
- Get to know Jacques and ask for his recommendation. If a brand is out of your price range, ask for a product recommendation in your budget!
- There's a tiny shop in the back called Olga's Facials where you can get an incredible facial for a competitive price.

This store is the best of the best. They have everything you need and items i didn't know i needed!
They are helpful, prices are great, selection is amazing. Jack and Mercedes the owners are wonderful as is their entire staff. I have been shopping there since the 90's and have never found any store that compares.

They have anything and everything you could ever want. Something for every age, at every price. Best skincare, haircare, apothecary. Love their home accessories. Kids section is fully stocked.

Supper friendly owner also Iv been coloring my hair since 17 but the hair color I purchased today was something else I didn’t feel any irritation or itchy ness also the color came out exactly what it was in the catalog
