La Superior

La Superior, is indeed a superior grocery store in Durham area, with wide choices of groceries, meat, bread and delicious Mexican food. Its authentic menu is superb to taste and enjoy. This is one of my favorites in this area. People are also friendly and hospitable.

Excellent food, cafeteria style. Bakery and fresh tortillas as well. Salsa bar and Mexican drinks (cane sugar Coca Cola, Orchata, etc.).

Nice and quick service. Great fresh meat and a full bakery. One of the best places in Durham for meat.

Amazing tacos! The custard apple (sweetsop) frescas was very tasty! Fresh ceviche with avocado was not wet so very tasty! Their Salvadorean creme was so good on a tostada topped with ceviche!

My wife used to live nearby so we stopped in for the tres Leches cake that she loved. They were out of tres leches but had plenty of other treats. They were also well stocked with various meats and had a restaurant on site.

Excellent bakery, tortillería, restaurant, & carnicería - Conchas & mantecadas (small pound cakes) are sublime. Carnitas & rotisserie chicken are very good too.

I really love authentic Mexican / Latino foods and happened upon this place while passing through the Braggtown neighborhood of Durham. This place has a lot of character and culture! I could use a little brushing-up on my Spanish, but managed to successfully order a pork burrito and water. Total cost was around $11, and the portion size was generous. I was stuffed when I left the table. Food was really good and fresh. If you're looking for a more formal dining experience with a waiter, this is not what you will get here. You go to the cashier to order, pick up your order when it's ready, take it to your table to eat and then return the dirty dishes.
After eating, I looked around the bakery and wished I had left a little room for dessert as the pastries looked really yummy. I plan to return when I have more time to look around the store.

Great, authentic food. Very busy place, but fast and organized ordering system. I'd suggest looking at options before you go, since you will probably experience a line.

Love this place. Can you get real Mexican food and many cooking items. They make fresh pan dulce,corn tortillas, and tamales.

A really nice, enormous grocery store and take out. Great selection of breads and other treats. Welcoming and patient with los diablos blancos like me. Bakery is off the hook.
