Bart was such a kind soul! We were telling him about my dream to own my own bookstore in Davenport, and he was so encouraging! His store is beautiful & cozy. We will definitely be back. 💛

Such a lovely little book store! I took my daughter to meet Frank to celebrate the end of the school year. There are a surprising number of books in the space and a great variety, as well. Bart is so warm and kind, we felt right at home chatting with him and Frank. He gave my daughter a pin with a black cat on it when he found out we are also ruled by a black cat. Thank you for such a lovely experience and we’ll be back to visit!

An adorable indie store! They have lots of new releases and a good local author section. We will have to come back to see the hard working shop cat!

Cozy, intimate bookshop. I’m so impressed with the wide selection in a small space. Owner made an excellent recommendation when we weren’t quite sure what we were looking for.

My son and I stop in to this shop each time we go to NewBo. The owner is always so welcoming and his customer service has always been amazing. He takes the time greet each customer. It’s a cute intimate book shop with an array of classics, fiction, non fiction, young adult, and kids books. A must see.

Small but completely enchanting book store. My sister and I weren’t even fully in the door before we fell in love with the place, the books, the candles, the cat paraphernalia. Good music, nice ambiance and great selection of books. Support independent book sellers, especially great ones like this!

Bart, the shop proprietor, and Frank, the shop cat, are hands down the best there is in the book business. The store itself is magical and is a Cedar Rapids treasure. The selection is carefully curated, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, Bart will order it for you. During the height of the pandemic, he would even run it out to your car. He still might. The footprint isn’t large, but you’ll still get lost in the stacks and lose all sense of time.

I had gone into this store with a friend, not entirely sure what to expect since it was a small store and admittedly, at the time I doubted I would've walked out with anything in hand.

My expectations were far exceeded when I walked through the door to be met with what seemed like a library jammed into an apartment sized room.

There was a breath of creativity seen throughout the room as one took time to look around and realize the vast extent of selections available. It took me all but a few laps around the room to fully comprehend just how much inventory was truly present - to say it was astronomical.

Every wall one looked, there was a different book or genre available, begging to be picked up and inspected and ultimately brought home.

When I was finally ready to check out, cookbook in hand, I began to speak with a man by the name of Bart. As I talked with Bart more, I began to realise he has many of travels under his belt and is more than willing to share them if you ask. I also quickly realised being well traveled and well read alike, Bart has probably heard of your small town.

Overall, I loved the experience shopping here and I would love to come back again.

Postscript: Do take note of the decorations in the window, as I visited the winter display was just taken down but, Bart had shown me pictures and he has every right to be proud of such an amazing display.

It's always good to have neighborhood bookstores. Next Page Books is in the NewBo and Czech Village areas which are popular with people in Cedar Rapids as well as those from farther away seeing a nice road trip destination for a fun day of exploring. To get a sense of the area, I'm sharing a photo of a tiny green house that is just two doors down from the bookstore.

Truly a gem of a place. Great selection of books that I was looking for . The owner is very polite and knowledgeable. Also a friendly cat.

A true GEM in the neighborhood and in the entire community. Independent bookstores need to be supported and celebrated! And we are lucky to have Bart (and Frank) sharing his picks and knowledge of the literary world, all within the walls of a beautiful, cozy, authentic, and intimate bookshelf-lined shop in NewBo. Plus there's a selection of sweet gifts and cards, some locally made, to round out a special experience. And keep an eye on the event calendar...book signings, holiday celebrations, and literary-themed events keep things fun and relevant at the shop.

This bookstore has a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. The employees are really friendly, too which is always good. I highly recommend this store! I came in for one book, but ended up browsing and so I left with four. Love their selection!

This book store is great. It has great selection and is owned by the nicest guy, Bart, who gives great customer service. He was extremely friendly and even gave us a great price on a couple books. I highly recommend supporting this local business!

This is a gem of a bookstore! The owner, Bart Carithers, cultivates a perfect collection of books. I've been buying my books through him over the phone during the pandemic and then do either curbside or quick masked in-store pickup. I especially love the children book section and so does my 4-year old.

Love this place. I like to come in just to browse and always find something that calls to me from the selection they carry. Plus, they are so accommodating in special ordering items if they don't have them available. A cozy and personable experience every time.

Best bookstore in Cedar Rapids. You cannot walk into this store without finding at least one book you need. Location is great and the atmosphere is wonderful.

Drawn in by the sign, "Independent Bookstore," this little delightful shop did not disappoint. While small, the selection is sure to satisfy a variety of tastes being packed with merchandise without sacrificing that cozy vibe. Personally, I'm more of a staff person, myself. The gentleman at the counter, presumably the owner, was exactly what one hopes for in a shop attendant; he was pleasurable, helpful, and made me feel extremely confident in my purchases, including "Thunder & Lightening: Weather Past, Present, Future" by Lauren Redniss.
