I was working in the area and found this place because of Groupon. And I'm very thankful I did because I had an absolutely lovely experience here. The older gentleman who runs the store, John I believe his name is, is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He guided me in the right direction for some charcuterie meats and cheeses and let me sample a bunch to see what I liked. When I came home and told my girlfriend about my experience, she decided we would go back together. So she got the same Groupon and we went a few days later. This time John had two younger gentlemen working with him who prepared an assortment of wines, meats, and cheeses for us to try. The experience was outstanding and all of the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. I also cannot stress enough that this place has an unbelievable ratio of quality to price. The products are incredibly good for an unreasonably low price. I will absolutely make coming back a #1 priority when I return to the area. Please go here and buy some stuff, they deserve the money and you deserve the experience.

As usual Jon and his staff are very helpful and provide friendly and knowledgeable service--not to mention an excellent selection of reasonably priced wines and cheeses.

Firstly, this is definitely a small wine shop - they don't have the biggest selection but they make up for that with their service.

I came in looking for wines for Thanksgiving and was immediately helped when I first walked in the door by the store's staff. They were all kind and very knowledgeable while also being very receptive to my questions.

I'll definitely be back!

Updating my post from 2018: still a wonderful shop, better than ever. Have shopped here for years -- first when it was The Vineyard and then when it moved and became the McLean Wine Outlet. Great collection of wines, excellent cheeses, incredibly knowledgeable staff, and prices that can't be beat. I rarely go to Total Wine any more.

Phenomenal wine, and even more incredible humans. Everyone who works there is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, and I'll give a special shout out to Jon, the owner, who helped us select a unique set of wines for our wedding and buy them in bulk. We didn't have easy requests, but he made the time to work things out for us and helped us overcome some serious logistic challenges. Not to mention how nice it is to drop by on weekends for a free tasting and to pick up some delicious wine, cheese, and bread!

This place is phenomenal! Every wine I've ever had here has been reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Not to mention John is always incredibly helpful and kind. He knows so much about wine and is there to help you find the perfect one (or several)! He also has a great memory and cares for each customer, often remembering you, even if you've only been in once or twice. Such a wonderful establishment. 100% reccomend!

I wrote the following review 10 months ago and I've been a regular customer since.

I had no idea this store was in the area! I wandered in today and an employee quickly gave me the lay of the land. I could find the wine tasting in the back, fresh bread had just arrived, I should let them know if I want to taste any of the cheeses, and there's an olive oil selection in the back.

Be still my heart.

First, I did the wine tasting. The sign said they do them on Fridays and Saturdays. It was a flight of Italian wines. First of all, they serve the wine in real glasses, not in those little plastic shot glasses. Second, they really know the wines they are serving. The first wine I tasted was a very specific varietal, and I asked if it was the type of varietal you typically get in a Sicilian House Wine. I was surprised when the employee gave me the whole lay of the land and the three different varietals that tend to be used in Sicilian wines.

Second, I looked at the wines. The selection was fantastic and at great prices. A lot of wine stores I go into have wines in the $12 price point that are... fine. It takes a lot of searching and trying to get a great wine at that price point. I am excited to try a lot of the wines in this store because I saw three "value" wines I already discovered and love for sale there (at great prices). I'm talking around $10 each. It's clear a lot of care and work goes into curating this selection of wine.

Third, I checked out the food. There was fresh baked bread there and I couldn't help myself. (Don't tell my nutritionist...) I picked up some bread and a couple of cheeses, plus a salami the owner recommended. I had a friend stopping by, and we are currently sampling these items. Everything is great--I highly recommend the goat brie and the brillat.

So why am I writing a review while my friend is over? Because I was raving so much to her about this place that we both realized that everyone needs to know!

In addition to the selection of items there, the service was outstanding. From the gentleman doing the wine tasting, to the woman ringing people up, to the owner greeting each guest, the customer service was impeccable. They were helpful without being I'm-following-you-around-the-store annoying.

They also give you the option of opening a wine log, so you can figure out what you had and liked that you bought there. I think that's great! I already discovered a new wine I like from their tasting.

I'll certainly be back! Don't expect the wide breath of wine that a big box store has, but do expect each item in there to be curated for a specific reason.

Found this place by accident. The manager was very friendly and personable. We picked up a couple of bottles. Reasonable prices. They have their grand opening this weekend. I'm hoping they will become a permanent part of the community. We have an outrageous number of cleaners and three or four cigar shops. Seems a boutique wine shop is needed.

Great little shop with an owner who is knowledgeable about his craft. He won't just say, "I recommend this," but instead will describe some of the varying characteristics of the wines he proposes. There's wine at different price points too. Highly recommend.

Went with my girlfriend to grab some cheese through the Groupon (which was a fantastic deal) and snag an extra bottle on the side. The staff was wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable (but totally understanding that I wasn't), spending a lot of time helping us pick out what we wanted. Lots of tasty cheeses! I hope in the future the cured meat variety expands a little. The wine selection isnt huge but is obviously carefully picked by those who enjoy it, with a huge budget range so no problem finding something good that wont bust the bank. I am definetely going to be a repeat customer (also was told they get new stuff all the time!) Screw total wine. Support small business!

Slightly pricier but offers very good deals on some wines. Shop keeper was super helpful and was able to help us find a wine we loved. Would definitely go back!

Little store that’s true to its name. The wines are cheap, but still delicious. Solid selection of cheese and crackers as well. Looks like they had beer, but not much. Really nice owners (or who I assumed were the owners).

The Vineyard is my favorite wine shop in McLean. The staff is very knowledgeable, and they have free wine tastings every weekend. When they didn't have what I was looking for in stock, they were able to special order it for me.

This is my go-to wine shop for service, value, and great wines. Jon is knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. This wine shop is a great asset to the neighborhood.
