This bookstore has a massive inventory spanning a wide variety of genres, all for a very fair/cheap price. The staff were super friendly (especially the sleepy four legged ones) and seemed to have a great rapport with the locals. Definitely plan to come back.

It's places like this that give Springfield (and especially the downtown area) a certain charm. Each visit I've had has been enriching and pleasant. I especially love the cat! It's so cute and really adds to the overall experience.

Lovely little local owned Bookstore with a cute mascot! His name his Googey just an FYI. They had a great little selection of used books and art.
A lot of old reviews say the place smelled of cat urine, but I smelled nothing.
Pros and Cons Below.

Pros
-Books are all fairly priced
-Art displayed in the back
-Great selection
-Books Organized
-Excellent service

Cons
-I believe all books are used
-Some Cat hair on the Ground (expected and its not a lot but it might be enough if you're allergic)

It was great in this little book store. I found 3 books I have been looking for. The big bonus was the 2 sweet cats you can pet. What a nice clean book store. My husband and I can't wait to go again soon.

Great store! I wish they weren't so limited on their selection, but it's understandable. Also...they work wonders with the space they DO have!

Great little bookstore in downtown Springfield. A nice selection and the help is pretty cute! Picked up what looked like a brand new book for $7, you'll definitely find something to read here!

Phenomenal experience! The place was soothing and smelled like old books (my favorite smell), the books were full of great knowledge for my paper, the shop keeper was very sweet, and on top of that the Cat was very sweet 🥰

Oh my gosh, they have cats! That alone deserves a five-star review in my book! (Haha, see what I did there?!) Cute store, friendly employees, and reasonably priced books. And CATS!! Winning combination!

This is definitely my favorite book store of ever. Any time I'm downtown I have to go here and there's a high probability I'll find something that's missing from my shelves. I've bought, novels, comics, art and anthologies there. First editions, collectors editions, I've purchased 2 books there that the author had signed. A must for bilbiliophiles.

Love this little local book store! Great selection at great prices! Plus they have a rack of vintage clothing in the middle of their shop that has some great items!

I love Bookmarx! Great selection, always a few surprises, and of course the bookstore cats. Buying books there is the very definition of buying local.

If I could give this bookstore more than five stars I absolutely would! A store cat came to greet us and kept us company while we browsed the well organized, full, shelves of books. Often times bookstores that take second hand books feel claustrophobic or dusty but that is not the case here. I will definitely make another trip to Springfield with the intention of visiting again!

This is a real gem for Springfield. The space feels historic but updated- original brick walls with newer shelves, seating and lighting. There’s a really great selection of literary classics, sci-fi and general fiction- I loved the huge selection of trade paperback classics, a lot of them had phenomenal covers. Not a huge emphasis on non fiction but still a good amount. I appreciated seeing other spiritual views besides Christianity represented here, the Ozarks lack diversity of thought. Super sweet cat who meanders and wants ear scratches! The owner was super nice and I enjoyed chatting with him.

Anytime I am in Springfield this is a must stop. They have a eclectic and superb taste in books. I almost always find a gem at a fair price, especially in the classics and poetry sections!

A wonderful place to find a few new reads. I routinely visit and have picked up everything from Vonnegut to a detailed account of the 1975 Civil War. If you don't mind a bit of ware you can pick up some of the great literary works for as little as $3 with tax. They carry a selection of new books as well which often are priced cheaper than the suggested retail value. For those interested in less covered philosophy and history there is an ever cycling inventory of new things to cover. Frequently I walk out with 2 or 3 months of reading for all of $30.

If somehow you don't have an interest in any of the thousand or so books you will often find on their shelves this is still a great place to look for gifts.

As for those who use "communist" as some kind of insult well they don't tend to read much.

EDIT: I miss the art shows in the back I'd love to know when they're back!

The cutest little bookstore that I've seen so far. It's comfortably quiet, and an ideal place to be in on a somewhat rainy day. Good deals on a wide variety of books. Also the cats are precious, friendly, and very laid back.

I went here because I heard they have store cats. I was not disappointed. I will go back because what is better than books and cats?

I don't understand why there were a few negative reviews on this books store. I had a very pleasant experience here. Lots to choose from and fairly priced. I'm over an hour away from this book store, but will definitely be back.
