Leong's Asian Diner

Had to come try the illustrious cashew chicken, and it didn’t disappoint. We were seated immediately and watched the restaurant quickly fill around us - this place is clearly a lunch rush favorite, so I’d anticipate a wait if coming during peak hours. The staff were all super friendly and our food came out hot and fast. Portions were large and we had enough leftovers to bring home and eat for dinner.

Lunched with a friend to try the famed Cashew Chicken (which is available gluten free) deep fried pockets of chicken with a dipping gravy and choice of steamed rice or stir fry. Returned a couple of days later for dinner. Unexpectedly inviting and pleasant despite tables full Saturday at 5.30pm. Discovered they serve ribeye steak and salmon specialty dishes on Friday/Saturdays (couple next to me had theirs arrive). Generous portions. Tried egg drop soup - it was a great hot fresh starter, followed by the gluten free Pad Thai (again) so flavorful and filling (leftovers for home). Dessert - in-house Crème Brûlée lovely n creamy with the crunchy flambé sugar top. Sat at the bar as there was a 20 minute wait for table (busy) and enjoyed a tequila and ate my food there. The bartender and waitstaff are friendly and check everything to your liking. If you love Asian cuisine come check them out!

For the strictly Asian palette, please be aware that this is a westernized Asian dinner. They've been serving their local community for decades and the clientele is amazing.
You definitely have to try their cashew chicken. The savoriness is not overcome with the typical sweetness you'll experience from Chinese takeout places, in fact it is pleasantly salty with a slight nuttiness.
The staff is friendly and accommodating, which makes for a great divine experience.

My brother and I loved this place. We’re pretty picky about our Chinese food. The potstickers were homemade absolutely delicious and sauce too. I had the honey walnut shrimp which were huge shrimp! The sauce was so good and was on a bed of crispy seaweed. My brother got the cashew chicken which was good chicken but the sauce was not seasoned enough almost like cream of chicken soup. Crab rangoons were light and crispy. Will definitely be back here!

Did my research on Springfield Cashew chicken and found Leong's who is the original creator. The hostess told us a bit about his story which was very interesting. Our waitress was exceptionally helpful. Based on what I ordered she recommended the special which saved me money and gave us more food. The cashew chicken was excellent. I didn't put any additional sauces on it to.preserve the original flavor. The hot and sour soup wasn't as spicy as some I've had but it had great flavor and was full of ingredients. The crab ragoons are some of the best I've ever had. They actually had lots of crab and cream cheese inside... not just a speck like most places. The eggroll had a peanut sauce inside which I knew going in. It was definitely different, like it had a little peanut butter inside. The General chicken had a sweet barbecue flavor versus being really spicy. Good flavor as well. If I lived in the area I would be hard pressed to go anywhere else for Chinese. It would be my go to.

Our ordered food was delicious. Our waitress Mary was outstanding. Almost every dish on the menu can be prepared gluten free. Plus, for those that watch your sugar intake can order dishes prepared with half the sugar. It was an outstanding dinning treat. We will return frequently.

Springfield Cashew Chicken does not disappoint every time we come here. Service is nice and quick to fix any issues. Portion sizes are large and we always have left overs. Love getting sauce to take home. They honor their family well.

The staff worked around my daughter's picky taste and altered a menu item just for her. The food was possibly the best Chinese I've ever eaten. I wish I could give 10 stars all around.

First time visit: General chicken was fantastic, the egg rolls were the best I've had in a long time and the sauces to go with it were wonderful! I will be going back

This is the home of cashew chicken! The servers are so kind, and very prompt. We used the private room for a party and even with 20+ people the food came out hot and delicious. The cashew was amazing as always. If I could give 100 stars i would!

Great good. Good service. We only come to Springfield to come to my Dr, and we decided to stop in and try your world famous cashew chicken. And we will definitely stop here and eat here again.

The ORIGINAL cashew chicken!! What could be better, that’s easy their egg rolls!! The cashew chicken was good, but the star of the show were the egg rolls! It 100% took the place of the top egg roll I have ever had! I’ll be frequenting this place for well ever.

I had some thing that I'd never had any where else before. Excellent complex flavor. I'm a big eater and I was comfortably full with no sides

Yummy food. I had the orange chicken. It wasn’t spicy at all. I was expecting some spice and there was none. It was still very good though.

Egg rolls were yummy too. Seems to be a peanut sauce inside.

My first time trying Springfield Cashew Chicken and it was as good as they claim. You have the option of all white meat which we chose. Also tried the choose two, with Sweet and Sour and Generals Chicken. Fresh, hot, crispy, and super flavorful! If you want to try Springfield Cashew Chicken, go to the creator!!

Never have been here and man was it delicious. It’s a small restaurant that was packed with eager patrons. The service was fast, friendly and I did not feel rushed by any means to hurry up so another paying customer could sit. I recommend stopping in for a bite.

I finally understand what all the hype is about! My boss kept telling me the next time I was in Springfield that I had to get cashew chicken, and what better place than where it all began! So amazingly good. Fast service. Priced well. Will definitely come back when I'm back in town next!

Can't believe I waited this long to check out Leong's Asian Diner! The cashew chicken was delicious...I can see why everyone always recommends this place for it! The egg rolls and the peach sake were great, too! Perfect for lunch, reasonably priced, I'll definitely be back soon.

Went in for a late lunch and were quickly seated. We had great service throughout the meal. The portion sizes were good, definitelywill fill you up if you're hungry. The lunch prices are great! For two meals and an added on egg roll, it was roughly $21!

Nobody can compare to the original. Having moved west, Cashew chicken just isn't the same as what I was raised on here. Glad to know my long-time comfort food can still be found in my hometown. My hope is that this business prospers for many generations to come. Mr. Leong was a real treasure and so happy he chose Springfield as his home. May he always R.I.P.
