El Potro Mexican Restaurant

When you walk in it’s hard to judge how to think the experience will be. Being in a strip mall with dark windows it’s an unassuming spot. The place is clean and well lit. We were promptly greeted and seated when we walked in. We had beverages within minutes and chips and salsa shortly after. The menu is loooooooong but there is an area that explains what the Spanish food items that was helpful for my husband. Everything we ordered was delicious, the ingredients were fresh and the food was seasoned well and was hot. The food came very quickly after we ordered. We would’ve liked hot sauce on the table but the salsa worked for an extra splash. The tomato lettuce sour cream guacamole that came with the food was fresh! The tomato was red and delicious, like it was from a garden… the guac had good flavor and was bright green too. You could tell the ingredients were high quality. The server was so kind and very attentive, he even offered to get us to go sodas at the end of our meal.

Great food. Fast service. The place looks sketchy from the outside but is a hidden gem. It was amazing! And super cheap. We were traveling through but will remember it if we are coming back this way.

Great Mexican experience here. Friendly staff. Fast kitchen. The Pollo Rico was great. Good salsa and chips. And of course an excellent Margarita.

Enjoyed fajita nachos and the margaritas were delicious. Great service too!

My Husband and I own a local Roofing Company. Patriot Pros Roofing. We support this local restaurant.The buffet is amazing and the service is stellar. If you have never stopped by and had a bite, I encourage you to, you won't be disappointed! The wings are amazing and everything is fresh! Looking for fresh salad. Look no more!

Buffet for 12.50 can not be beat. Food was fresh and delicious. Even included cheese dip! Had a ton to choose from and the workers are great!

Classic sleeper, 'hole in the wall' (no punn intended:) family-run mexican restaurant.
Chicken enchiladas, tamales and chili relleno are all equally delicious.
They serve a cocktail De camarones made from scratch, and with obvious love and care.
Don't let the outside looks deter you!!

The lunch buffet was good and nice selection. Service was good with our beverage and picking up plates. Very friendly staff. You can't go wrong.

Arrived sober. Left not so much. But before the large Cadillac Margarita I enjoyed a wonderful order of enchilada Verde that filled my soul with enjoyment (and sodium). But seriously; fast friendly service and great food at fair prices; who could ask for more. (And I say that rhetorically. Honestly. I couldn't care less about the "more" you're asking for.)

I believe I have been eating at El potro's for probably more than 30 years various locations throughout the area always great food friendly people I've watched some of the young guys working there turn from the 20s to 50s.

Best Mexican food I've had so far any further away than a Texas border town. Authentic and full of flavor. They also have an "all you can eat" lunch bar. I had that for the first time yesterday and really thought it was delicious. Try the burrito grande as pictured. It's a no brainier. The decor was dated, half hearted Mexican. The restaurant was clean and the staff was an absolute pleasure. Beyond all the glitz and glamour, you're there for the food and you won't be disappointed. Bonus tip.... the salsa is house made and good enough to be sold, at a premium, anywhere.

Love this place!! They have a buffet every day at lunch time and on Thursday - Saturday at dinner and it's so yummy.

Friendly staff, the buffet was fantastic and I suggest the Verde sauce.

This place is the bomb, I have only had the opportunity to sit down and eat here a couple times, but order take out regularly. The food is always delicious, I find the portions to be generous and they take extra time to wrap all the to go boxes in plastic wrap individually to help keep the food fresh. Since I starting eating here it is the only place I go to get Mexican food and I regularly recommend it to people looking for a good place to eat.

This place is delicious, the staff is very welcoming and fast, they help with any questions and try to give recommendations, feels very authentic and the food is really good. It may look a bit weird from the pup, but this place is definitely great, once you try it you will go back for sure.

Great staff. Love the buffet when I can't decide what's for lunch, or supper. Margaritas are cold, refreshing and so good.
