So fun, delicious, and beautiful.
The food was tasty, good size portions and creative. The vibe is worth going and the service is attentive!

Went here for restaurant week; otherwise this place is on the spender side, but worth it.

The space was nice. Very on par with restaurants places similar. Lots of lush plants, wicker, boho style. We enjoyed sitting next to the fireplace on the patio.

The food was good! Bright and light. The ceviche tasted fresh and wasn’t overpowered by seasoning. You could taste all the different seafoods. The salmon tiradito had a great flavor, I would say slightly oversalted. The smoked mushroom tacos were my favorite. Tons of Smokey flavor and the homemade tortillas, delicious. It would have been nice to see a vegetarian option for main plates.

Our server was very friendly and made sure to check on my dietary restrictions. She even offered us some free Prosecco, as it was our anniversary:)

I always enjoy having dinner here. The spinach salad roasted squash etc was so good. The Coconut Tres Leches was incredible.

Had a business meal here with a group of 8. Definitely not your average Mexican fare - everything had some elevated level of excellence. Very friendly server. Didn't drink but plenty of options available. The apps were amazing - not even a beets fan but enjoyed those. Ended up going with the steak fajitas and they were wonderful - a friend shared some of the scallops - also 100% on those. Would be a good place for a big or small group. Busy and can get a little noisy so be mindful. Chairs are very substantial! - first time I've ever said that in a Google review lol... - if you go then you can draw your own conclusion on that statement.

We've been looking forward to finally eating here and enjoy the patio as well. The food was full of vibrant color with a perfect spice level for the whole group.

I am not much of a cocktail person but all of their house drinks were amazing!

The Wayzata strip has so many top notch choices!

Macanda is the perfect place to go for a date night, or just to catch up with friends over drinks! Wonderful staff and service is always happy to help answer questions, and the atmosphere and food is wonderful. Smaller menu, but plenty of options for whatever your palate prefers.

It was a great experience, and it was a super busy restaurant. I love the design of the restaurant, plus the location was next to a lake as well. Joey E was our service, and he was friendly. He recommended us a couple of good drinks with less alcohol and some good food since it was our first time visiting Macanda.

He always came to check on us to make sure everything was perfect.

My rating would be closer to a 4.5 but there are a few factors that lead me to giving this spot a 5 instead of a 4 on here, which I will elaborate on soon enough. First things first, Daniel del Prado did it again with creating a great food spot for people to try and gather! Macanda is in Wayzata which means it's closer to Josefina, and with the lake view if one chooses to sit by the patio, it has some added points for the summer.

My friend and I ordered 4 types of tacos in total, and they were all good in their own ways. My favorite was the tempura shrimp soft taco. The arbol mayo and cabbage really made a difference in defining the flavor beyond the tempura shrimp texture and it worked very well! Then the carne asada soft tacos were excellent as well, as the meat was very tender and juicy. Adding their hot sauce on it was a great plus in providing flavor, along with lime juice. The smoked mushroom soft tacos and the brisket tacos were great as well, although the brisket did not have a very pronounced presence among the other ingredients which replicated some of the same ingredients in the other kinds of tacos. The mushroom almost had a meat texture, and together with the fajitas (green bell pepper at least) included, it tasted almost like meat tacos. Then the corn esquites were out of this world! With queso fresco and chipotle mayo sauce included, it was almost like the bowl version of an elote except for the cheese difference. Maybe using cotija could be even better? I am not sure, but it's really good already! The chicken enchiladas, I felt leaned more towards mediocre, as the guajillo salsa ended up becoming the main flavor defining factor, instead of the chicken, the crema, or the toppings (radish and cilantro), which in the end just tasted like chicken dipped in salsa.

Finally desserts, big shoutout to the fresas con crema! Great combination of strawberry, cream, and shortbread! Our server even poured cream on top of it as he served the dessert on the spot. The strawberry did not taste that fresh, so combining everything together was what made the flavor work. We also had the buñuelo. It looked different from the traditional one, but ended up tasting pretty good. Personally I thought there was too much golden raisin and candied orange, so I actually tried to use the tres leches gelato to neutralize the strong flavors from those two ingredients. However, I can definitely see some people liking it that way as well.

Now the factors that is leading me to give this place a 5 would be: 1) atmosphere, which was clearly intentionally made and well-designed, so despite the noisiness, it didn't necessarily drown a conversation, and my friend and I still had a great time. 2) service, which was just amazing, as our server Eric was extremely courteous and attentive to us, carrying a smile throughout the entire time, so I promised to give him a shoutout here - he was excellent! 3) relativity, which basically means that I wouldn't feel right about giving Macanda a 4 when I have given 4's to some way more mediocre establishments, because Macanda made great efforts in many aspects of my dinner experience.

Several additional areas of opportunity that I will just mention here, speaking for myself only: The food came out a bit slow, so my friend and I waited for a while before our first dish came out (but I need to make it clear that there was a table of 14 right ahead of us that just submitted their order which might have impacted serving speed). The water tasted a bit weird, which I don't know why, but just want to make it known. These are just some nit-picky points!

My friend said she would definitely return and bring her family members here, and I will say the same!

Love the decor of this place! Totally my vibe in every way. It’s like being immediately transplanted to Bali or Tulum. My rating would be closer to a 4 but just felt like giving 5 stars because I left in good spirits and loved the decor.

Service was slacking. We had reservations for the patio for my birthday, which weren’t honored, so they did the next best. Server was odd but attentive.

The guacamole was delicious with large black bean chips to dip. We ordered the chicken enchiladas, I felt leaned more towards mediocre, as the guajillo salsa was dominating. The snapper was filling and tasty and grilled to perfection. Dessert was incredible, we got that fresas con crema. I would recommend for the experience, views and ambiance.

I have wanted to come to this restaurant for a long time, so the anticipation was building up - it did not disappoint! First, the environment is stunning!!!! The food and drinks were delicious, but I will warn you - most of the food is spicy! Their party bar is entertaining, with a DJ and a separate drink menu. I can't wait to come back to try more off the menu!

The entrance can be slightly cumbersome if you've never been to the area before. It wasn't as straightforward. The service and the food more than made up for it. Simon was our server. He was attentive on a very busy night. He explained the dishes well with excellent recommendations. He had such a pleasant energy that was so refreshing. Thank you again Simon.

I found the ceviche quite salty so perhaps I won't order that again. The shrimp tacos and scallops were divine. Next time, we'll sit at the patio as I found the main dining a little too loud.

I’ve gone to numerous Mexican restaurants and have left unsatisfied, but Macanda has set a standard that will be hard to beat. Before you eat the first bit of food you’re eyes are nourished with a beautiful decor with a wall lined with cacti, lighting that feeds the mood, and the warm welcoming of the staff sets the table.

We ordered the beet salad. It was a little salty but very tasty. The in-house purple corn chips paired well with the creamy, light queso. We ordered the enchiladas. I didn’t taste this dish but my fam devoured it. While they were chowing down of the enchiladas I indulged in two of the tastiest shrimp tacos I ever had. I ordered them with flour tortillas that were light and airy and the shrimp and slaw layered proportionately were well seasoned with a little spice kiss at the end. We ordered a steak dish that I didn’t partake in but it to was devoured too. The portions are small, but that didn’t bother us because it gave us a reason to ordered:-)

We absolutely loved our dinner at Macanda. Charlie was our server and definitely ask for him if you go. Everything we had was delicious. Charlie recommended the ceviche, halibut tostada and scallops. All were amazing. You have to get the corn esquites as well. So good!

The food here was delicious. It's rare we eat fancy Mexican food. It was definitely worth it. I got the enchiladas that came with a delicious sauce. Some of the best enchiladas I've had. My wife got the shrimp tacos which were also really good but a bit spicy. For appetizers we got the queso and the ceviche. The queso was good but nothing special. To drink I got the margarita. I usually don't like margaritas but they looked so cool. I enjoyed it but it has too much ice.

We went to Maconda for a friends birthday and were not disappointed. The ambiance is modern, fun and inviting. The restaurant is on Lake Wayzata and the patio is screened-in to keep
The bugs out.

We started with the chips and salsa, which came with guajillo, passion fruit and tomatillo Serrano salsas. All of the salsa were good but the sweet and spicy combination of the passion fruit was our favorite, it was phenomenal. For our mains, we shared the brisket tacos and chicken tacos. The chicken tacos were good but we thought the brisket are a must have. The brisket had a nice bark and had great flavor. We had a side of corn esquites which were out of this world. The corn was creamy and delicious. We finished with the strawberry shortcake and another dessert with ice cream and golden rasins. Both desserts were underwhelming and we could’ve went without. The cappuccino was also mediocre. The starters and mains were awesome, would be back for them.

This restaurant is the Colita of the west side, but it's even better. We loved our dinner at Macanda! The food is expensive, but the quality is there to match the price tag. Each dish was full of flavor, and the service was great! Max and Ryan are really amazing bar tenders, and know how to make great drinks on and off the menu. We will definitely be returning! Plus they have a great side bar to get a drink at before your meal....

There were not as many options for dairy free and GF/DF at brunch but there were a few items and each were amazing. The ceviche is great, the chilaquiles were amazing and the glazed pork belly was fantastic a large part due to the hash browns and how they were prepared and served (like a square log crispy on the outside and soft but creamy without dairy). The churros were dairy free without the chocolate and were like crispy clouds. They did have oatmilk lattes also. Excellent service and view!

I happened to read about Macanda while on vacation in Minneapolis and serendipitously got a reservation for the last night of our vacation earlier that day. I’m so glad it worked out to go. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful, and I ate some of the best tacos of my life. Make sure you try the masa corn dumplings in mole sauce; they are fantastic. I loved the attention to detail in everything from the food to the little potted succulent on our table. Lori was a friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable server. I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in the Twin Cities area.

Great restaurant on the Wayzata waterfront with awesome ambiance and helpful staff.

The food has a unique Hispanic twist which I and my wife really enjoyed. Many of the items on the menu are “small plate” style which is great for sharing and trying a variety dishes. The prices are also reasonable. I personally recommend the chips and salsa flight as well as the shrimp tacos.

The “patio” is a really nice setup with a full roof + sweet lighting to keep you out of the sun/rain. The wall toward the lake is completely open so you feel inside yet outside at the same time.

Food was delicious, the corn and the halibut were my favorites. The drinks are also amazing and compliment the food really well. The best part was our server charlie who did an amazing job and had great suggestions.
