Mario's Pizzeria

My wife and I took an unplanned trip to explore Edgefield, SC today. Stopped for lunch at a small cafe and struck up a conversation with Nino, the owner of Mario’s Pizzeria. Super nice guy so we decided to grab a to go pizza and a couple drinks before we headed home. Glad we did! What a fantastic atmosphere! We had the pizza for supper this evening and it was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back. WE ARE!! 🔵⚪

We had so much fun! Our dear friends had been to Mario’s before, and loved it. So they invited us to go with them last weekend. The pizza was delicious! The crust is that chewy, crispy dough that you remember from before gluten was the enemy. The sauce was delicious and not sweet like the sauces of other chain stores. The toppings were plentiful and the cheese, oh the cheese…so stretchy and gooey! They also have live music on Saturdays. We were treated to Tim Barnett, on guitar, with a beautiful voice! He was very open to requests and we had so much fun singing along. Nino, the owner of Mario’s, was so gracious and when asked by one of the more talkative members of our group, sat with us and drank a glass of wine. The waitstaff were attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I went to Mario's for lunch and everything was delicious. The atmosphere is very nice, down to the music selection. Our server was very kind and helpful with menu questions and very attentive. I liked that something other than pizza was on the menu. I'm not big on tomato sauce, so it makes it nice to have options when you're having a meal with someone who loves tomato sauce.
We spoke with the owner who was very friendly. I question the reviews saying otherwise. I would highly recommend Mario's for a great dining experience.

It’s like finding an urban pizzeria in a Flannery O’Connor novella, only better. As a transplant to Edgefield County, I’ve come to love it’s people, and now I know where they hang out on the weekends. The pizza is fantastic and the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. I might have to bring our adult son next weekend. He’ll love it too.

UPDATE: Had an EVEN BETTER TIME last Saturday (13 April) than the first time I went a year and a half ago. The pizza was perfect, the appetizers tasty, and the Hopsecutioner delicious! There was a live act that night (Jim Barnnett) who new a ton of great 70's/80's folk, rockabilly, and rock songs we could sing along to. The owner took time away from bookkeeping to visit with us about an hour. It was great to get to know him and more about his pizzeria. I love it even more than the first time! And ... we brought our adult son with us this time. He loved it too.

I was invited to a private event. The menu included several kinds of pizza, salad and drinks. The pizza was excellent and hot and the salad delicious. The service was excellent. I will definitely be back. Parking can be a challenge especially during busy times. Sorry, no photos this time.

Great authentic Italian food! Not like Dominos or Pizza Hut. Real actual pizza. My husband and I had dinner and lunch there. We loved not only the food, but the atmosphere! Such a cool place to hang out and eat some good food! Definitely recommend it!

Mario’s came highly recommended to me by my best friend. Last weekend we were out celebrating his birthday and I suggested dinner at Mario’s on his previous recommendation. I had been wanting to check it out since he first told me about it. I am a huge pizza guy. I’ve had pizza from coast to coast and border to border in this great country. Quite frankly, pizza could be my whole way of life if not for my wife! We drove to the Edgefield town square, which is very cool! Imagine going to a place where everyone gathers for fun, and that is the town square in Edgefield, SC. As we walked into Mario’s Pizza, it was almost like walking into a NY eatery. The atmosphere is so welcoming, comfortable and just puts you at ease.
Our party was greeted and seated quickly. Drink orders were taken and after drinks arrived, appetizers and entrees were ordered. We had arrived very early for dinner and so the restaurant was sparsely populated. That changed fast! It was not long before musician Tim Barnett arrived and began to set up. The garlic knots and the stuffed mushrooms were delicious starters. When the pizza came I was a bit skeptical, the crust seemed to have a different texture than I am used to. To my surprise the crust had great texture and taste all the way through each bite. Sauce was just right, not overpowering, not too sweet or bitter. We ordered the “Meathead” and the “Dragged Through The Garden” (vegetarian) pizzas. Wow, the flavors were spot on, portioned well with toppings and overall just great pizza! Great food, great service, great atmosphere and music was great as well; it added to our dining experience.

Overall I’m thankful for the introduction to this little hole in the wall in Edgefield, SC. It will definitely become part of our future dining repertoire.

It's a great little pizza place. The food is priced reasonably, and the Buffalo Chicken pizza is great!!! The Meatball subs are excellent handmade meatballs, too!!! Service is a little slow, but in this market is to be expected. Hard to find people who want to work. Will be back for sure!!

I have come to Marios often since it opened in 2022. I love the pizza! For my preferences I feel like the crust is just right. Some people may disagree on that and fortunately for them pizza isn't the only option! They have wings, sandwiches, salads, and more! Their hand cut fries are amazing. If it's a music night or other type of event you may have to wait a bit for a pizza, but they are very accommodating. I've seen a few reviews about how clean it is and I wholeheartedly agree. Not many restaurants allow people a view into their kitchen, but Marios does, and you can tell the owner takes cleanliness seriously. I came in on two different Sundays and he had one of his employees wiping down floorboards since it was slow. I've loved coming to different events at this restaurant such as music nights, karaoke, or just coming in to watch a game. It's a wonderful place for a smaller town like Edgefield to have.

Excellent pizza and service! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating in service and explaining menu items. The restaurant and bathrooms are exceptionally clean. We cannot wait to go back.

The best pizza I've had in a long time I would eat there every day if I could. Love how the inside of the restaurant looks and the tvs everywhere.

Simply the BEST place to eat in Edgefield, SC! The creative quality is simply unmatched for miles around. Fresh food made daily with excellent service and an amazing atmosphere. The owner is someone who prides himself in providing a quality product which he stands behind! He also stands behind his staff by training and treating them well, and not allowing them to be treated poorly by others…which is rare these days!

Eric is a brilliant chef that has a VERY bright future! I’ve been lucky enough to be offered samples of some of his new creations and have NEVER been disappointed! Keep an eye out for new menu items as they’re always exceptional!

Mario’s is the only place in town with a selection of domestic, imported, and craft beers! The beer is ALWAYS cold, unlike larger chain restaurants.

If you listen to disgruntled Karen’s that didn’t get their standard freebie for complaining, you’ll miss out on the gem of the CSRA!

Make sure you ask Nino about Mario’s namesake! You’re sure to hear a few great stories and to learn why family and tradition makes Mario’s such an amazing place to frequent!!

I'm in love with this restaurant! Maybe a little too much. The atmosphere is wonderful, the decor and building style is beautiful and the service is always great. At this point, they all know my order as soon as they see my face. The Maui Wowie is my favorite pizza by far, but I've really liked the others I've tried so far as well. I haven't gotten around to trying the sandwiches yet, but the garlic bread is a must try. If you haven't already stopped in, you're missing out!

My husband and I love Mario's and TLC!!! Wonderful people, wonderful food, and wonderful service every time. No wonder people are mad... They got real competition in the square😂 Wishing y'all the best and continued prosperity❤

My wife and I visited Mario's for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and were very pleased. It was not busy at the time we went (about 2 PM) so getting a table was not a problem. The waitress was friendly and attentive and made sure to get us everything we needed. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty. My wife got the Philly cheesesteak with fries and a house salad, and I got the chicken parmesan with the house made linguini and house salad with garlic bread. The food was fresh, delicious, and the portions were satisfying. We passed on dessert at Mario's and went to TLC Confections instead for dessert and coffee. We spoke with Nino, the owner, who was very nice, and complimented him on his restaurant. His wife owns TLC Confections... how cool is that! He shared a little bit of his vision which is to see Edgefield square become a vibrant, thriving area for businesses that families of the surrounding areas can visit. He wants to see businesses work together and help each other succeed which is something often lacking in a small town. Downtown Edgefield only has a few family-owned restaurants and shops and could use some more like Mario's and TLC Confections. We definitely plan to go back to both!

I do love the food here. If there are big parties in there you will have a bit of a wait for pizza as they only have one pizza oven but, there’s usually some entertainment in there & the servers and owner are always so kind.

The food is reminiscent of what it was like years ago when chefs truly cared about what they served. No shortcuts just fantastic presentation and the flavors are out of this world.

Great place to eat. The food was really good and me and my wife enjoyed the atmosphere. Would recommend at least once a week!

The place is so cool - love all the decor and history. The food was so delicious! Everything we ordered was great. The menu offered so many things it was hard to choose. The service was so so good! Our waitress was the absolute sweetest and so attentive. The best food service we have had in a long time. I would go back just for that. They also have live music some nights which I would love to go back for. This is definitely worth a stop in if you're in town.

I love this place, i go often, everything is so delicious and they will make it the way you want it. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY.
