Arthur's Rock, nestled in the stunning Lory State Park in Northern Colorado just outside of Fort Collins offers a breathtaking hiking experience that truly surpasses expectations. At a glance, this trail may seem modest with its 1.7-mile length as indicated on the map, but it's a hidden gem packed with challenging adventures. The hike is deceptively uphill, featuring steep inclines and significant elevation gain, making it a thrilling journey for outdoor enthusiasts. As you navigate the picturesque trail, you'll be captivated by the diverse scenery, ranging from dense, lush forests to panoramic, snow-dusted landscapes, depending on the season. Whether it's vibrant wildflowers in spring or the serene beauty of snow-packed trails in winter, Arthur’s Rock provides a unique experience each time. Reaching the summit rewards hikers with extraordinary, far-reaching views to the east, offering a perfect backdrop for memorable photos. This hike isn't just a physical journey; it's an emotional one too, leaving you with a profound sense of accomplishment. Access to this popular Colorado hiking trail is convenient, with a well-marked trailhead within Lory State Park. A highly recommended hike near Fort Collins, in Lory State Park, 25' outside of the city. They have parking at all trailheads. Good signs and roads in good condition. As you get to the rock, the terrain becomes rockier and steeper. It was very fun to do this hike, when you reach the top there are spectacular views. The only bad thing is that to enter Lory State Park you have to have the annual pass ($80), or a day pass ($10).

Great trail with gorgeous views of the lake and town below. When you almost get to the top, you'll have to do some rock climbing, but just take your time with that and you'll be fine. Plenty of people when we went, but not too busy on the trail. Bathrooms were located at trailhead. Might be wise to bring your own hand sanitizer because there wasn't any when I went.

This is a great beginner/intermediate hike in Ft Collins. We did it in late December with temperatures in the 30’s. It was 3.6 miles from the trailhead with 1150 of vertical. We took a low land visitor and completed it in 2.5 hours.

This is a great moderate hike to overlook Fort Collins and get away from the city. The park is $9 to enter and there is a smooth dirt road to get to the trailhead.

Arthur’s Rock is one of those hikes that’s very deceiving. When you look at it on the map, it’s only 1.7 miles. However, once you get started, you quickly realize that the hike is very uphill with steep inclines and quite a bit of elevation. The views along the way are incredible as the trail winds in and out of the forest. Different times of year give different landscapes from wildflowers to snow packed trails. The summit has absolutely gorgeous views to the east as far as the eye can see. There’s a tremendous sense of accomplishment in finishing this hike. The trail head is easy to get to and part of the Lory state park system so you will need to pay for either a day pass or a season pass.

Great medium level hike. About 50 minutes to go up at a comfortable place. Children can do it but may need help at the end going up some steep rock steps. Incredible view at the top. Absolutely worth it. Bring lunch with you and eat at the top.

Arthur's Rock is a nice trail to spend an afternoon. I would rank it as Easy. Also you need to pay $9 for a parking pass.

Arthur's rock provides the most expansive & gorgeous views of horsetooth reservoir. It is a 3.5 mile out and back trail with an elevation gain of 1,180 feet. 7000 feet at the top. Remember to bring plenty of water. 1.7 vertical miles will feel more like 3 miles so remember it's a bit more challenging than the distance can allude. We hiked with a two year old in a carrier on our back - if you do so be sure to have walking sticks for extra support. The rock stairs you need to climb at the end can be a bit challenging. The journey is so worth it. Be sure to bring layers as the temperature can quickly change on the peak!

A fine challenge with a finer payoff overlooking Horsetooth reservoir and the boring flat expanse of treeless plains. There is better oxygen here than in town since there are actual trees! Also, some nice rock formations.

A very accessible hike, I suggest going early because you’re very exposed when the sun comes out

Awesome hike up in Lory State Park, it's about 3.5 miles out and back. It's definitely a hike worth doing if you're up in No Co.
