Smith's Public House

I'm so happy this place was reopened! The Bartenders were so awesome! I love the vibe of the entire place, the historic building is so cool. Everything was great - they had espresso martinis on tap and they tasted perfect. The mozzarella logs appetizer were amazinggg and the french onion soup, burger and pizzas were great too. Definitely recommend!

Every dish was put together and executed exceptionally well! From a simple yet elegant charchuterie board to the wild boar ragu, to the best French onion soup that I have ever had in my life, and some very unique yet phenomenal desserts, the entire menu is priced right and absolutely out of this world. Our server Jordan was friendly and attentive, and the head chef himself Ben came out to thank us for our patronage and to ensure our satisfaction with the dishes. Will definitely be returning here, and I highly recommend Smith’s to anyone looking for a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy an even better meal!

I have to say I did have a good meal at Smith’s Public House. I had 10 person party and they unfortunately were not able to serve us the very fast, so they did give us a discount on our bill to make up for the service. I was very impressed with this gesture and I will definitely come back! The food was very good and I loved the old English bar vibe.

My only beef is there was no beef lol. I had been craving a steak and they had run out.

I ordered a chix parm. The sauce and pasta were excellent. I had a chip amd dip the was equally good. I ate at the bar. The service was excellent, the server Joelle is beautiful with a great personality. The drinks were on point and vibe was middle class, hipster, chill. Something for everyone, I highly recommend.

Wow. What a hidden gem! Me and my partner moved here to the cohoes area about 6 months ago. So glad we found this place. Three words. Expresso martini flights!

We called ahead to see if a reservation would be needed. We were advised that only parties of 6 or more are requested to make a reservation. We we're told there were tables for 2 available at that time (approx 6pm Tuesday night). Upon our arrival there were two tables open, however they were right next to the door and it was very cold out. We chose to wait for a table in the back of the restaurant. We sat at a small wait table near the bar and had a drink (Disaronno on the rocks $11 ea.) while we waited. After approx 40 minutes we were escorted to our table in the fireplace dining room (a beautiful cozy room with a large fireplace). We ordered Pierogis for an appetizer (forgot to get $), and the Buratta Pancetta Pizza $17.
Everything was very tasty and the seating was worth the wait. This is the second time we've been here and have been happy both times! Thank you to the bar and wait staff for a very nice dinner!

Very nice place for a group to get together, we meet at a local restaurant monthly and Smith's was a keeper. Lovely atmosphere, excellent food and service. We will have to come back!

Bigger than it looks from the outside. Service quick and friendly, food is good. The only thing lacking is the parking (street).

A lovely place. Great food, staff and decor. It is VERY well attended and as such, do yourself a favor by making reservations. We thought we could just drop by one Saturday evening and try it out. Lol.. I don't think I could've slipped a piece of paper between any two of the seeming 120 people in there. It was very loud as everyone in there was having a great time with each other. All were very friendly. We asked the seating hostess how long to get a table. She said, optimistically, 45 minutes, but it was an hour. We came back the following Saturday at 11:30am and were seated immediately. The food was really, really great. Our server was a delightful young lady whom was very engaging and upbeat.

Buzzing, cool Old bar in Cohoes with great beer and spirits selection. This place always had character, but the new operators took it up several levels. It was a quick stop, meat lovers pizza, Brooklyn pumpkin ale, but I was there with several friends who all had good things to say. The service was great, very clean, and the place looked amazing. Must try it.

Our first impression of this place was iffy at first. We stopped in shortly after they reopened. Our table didn't get served after 15 minutes so we went somewhere else after waiting. So why the 5 star review? Because we are reasonable people and we know that the staff are humans. The place was busy the night we went. Completely packed. We came back to try it again on another day when it was less busy. So happy we did. The food was excellent, the staff were so nice and the atmosphere was perfect. The food isn't over priced. Sometimes you have to give a place a second chance. The drinks they served us were top notch. We shared the fried mozzarella (so good with the melba sauce), I got the fish and chips and my wife said her food was amazing too (I cant remember what she got). We will definitely be back.

Had a great brunch in an historic restaurant with a great atmosphere. The Bloody Mary was good but had a little too much pepper.

It's nice to see Remsen St come alive again! Give Smith's a try. I'm glad to see some updates to the menu! The atmosphere at the bar is fun too. Thanks for opening up.

A tad expensive, but you're paying for amazing food, service, and atmosphere.

Went out to dinner on a Friday night. They're is a bar at the front of the restaurant with the sit down tables at the back. Despite the bar bring semi full, it wasn't that loud. Seems like a classy place to watch some sports. Around 8pm some live music started playing which was nice.

The service was very nice. Dinner was serviced with fresh bread and butter. I ordered a pappardelle pasta dish with pork belly and shrimp in a leek cream sauce. My fiance order the stuffed salmon. Both came with soup which we both had tomato crab bisque. The food was delicious! The salads and steak also looks delicious. Each entree was around $22-25 but there were some cheaper options (but not by much).

If your in Cohoes you'd be doing you're a disservice by not coming here! But heads up, dinner can be a little expensive.

Food was great.... The service was fantastic.... The beer was cold and the atmosphere was awesome. Second time here. Will be back for sure!

I enjoyed sitting at the bar. It’s spacious and cozy and Big Mike was great company. The The bartender was really friendly and made us feel right at home. Food was excellent!

Love this place, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, the food is a little bland, but good quality and fresh. The bar is great. We are from NYC, and seeing someone else get pizza, I decided to try it. The crust is right, it's thin, crispy and chewy. The sauce is under seasoned, but with a little garlic, salt, parmasean, and EVOO, it would be perfect. The French onion soup is above average. The crimini linguini is really good, although the mushrooms are not criminis, the baked haddock is really light and perfectly baked, it could use a little more seasoning, the risotto was cold but done well, asparagus were perfect.
