Dartbrook Lodge

I recently had the pleasure to stay at the Dartbrook Lodge in Keene, NY. What a wonderful spot - for many reasons. First, it is situated in the middle of Keene, which is a lovely New England village nestled in a valley among the high peaks of the Adirondack mountains. The village has several great shops which have the greatest gifts for all those you have left at home as well as furniture for your own lodge back home.

The Dartbrook Lodge is a series of small and medium sized cabins that perch between the village and the Dart Brook. Each cabin has from one to three suites, each one more wonderful than the next. There are one, two and three bedroom suites. They all have the distinct Adirondack vernacular which includes twig furniture and architectural details, Persian or Indian rugs and wonderful heavy blankets and comforters. The bathrooms are well appointed with modern fixtures in the old tradition together with delicious soaps made with natural products from a local store. Of course the towels and linens are top notch. They are all so cozy!

I had the good fortune to meet the owners of Dartbrook Lodge who could not have been more kind and welcoming. They bent over backwards to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They gave us ideas of things to do in the area, as well as places to eat. They very kindly showed me a couple of the other, unoccupied rooms so I got a good sense of their style and tastes which are impeccable.

I cannot wait to return! It is better than I could have ever imagined in the unique and wonderful Adirondacks - almost like having our own “great camp” in the style of the late 19th century but with the comforts of the 21st.

This place has beautiful rooms in a rustic cabin style. Their staff are selfless and provide superb service. Definitely worth staying for a night or two if you’re in the area. If your looking to outfit a new cabin with some sweet furniture, Dartbrook Rustic Goods, next door, has much to offer.

Dartbrook Lodge is an amazing spot set amongst the high peaks of the Adirondack mountain range. Each private lodge is well appointed, cozy and ready to welcome in hikers, skiers and big-city escapists.

After visiting the Dartbrook Rustic Goods store, I decided to research what the lodge was all about. The main lodge is an amazing piece of architecture full of beauty and Adirondack charm. It was seeing that lodge from around the corner of the ADK cafe that intrigued me. I reserved the Keene Center House and found the prices to be absolutely reasonable.

This place is perfect for people who are looking to get away, to go for a hike, or to take advantage of events in nearby towns. It is about fifteen miles from Lake Placid, a long walk to Keene Valley, and a short drive to Wilmington. The towns, though, are insignificant.

The lodge we stayed in had so many perfect little touches. It had a rustic design everywhere one looked. Our room had a gas fireplace for wonderful ambiance, it had handmade furniture made from Adirondack lumber, it also had a kitchen which could come in handy for utilizing the small markets in the area such as Cedar Run. The room had a Sleep Number bed and, above all, a slate shower with a sunflower shower head.

With all of these amenities it is difficult to leave, but if you must, the mountains are right out the back door. Also out the back door is the ADK Cafe which can bring food to your cabin, or one can mosey over to Cedar Run which has small groceries and a wine room- perfect for a night by the fireplace. There is also a laundry room in case you're lucky to stay a very long time.

It is a quiet, remote location just in touch with the world to make you feel you're away from the busy-ness of life. I cannot recommend this place enough and have already reserved the same place for Ironman weekend. Check it out- you won't be disappointed.

When we arrived, we spoke with Jake, the manager, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming. He gave us his personal number in case we needed something in the middle of the night. We have not called his number because the rooms have always been clean and stocked well. The only bad thing about the place is that the WiFi is a bit spotty, but that's okay: you're in Keene, enjoy the wilderness!

Gorgeous cabins at reasonable price points! Lovely decor and excellent staff. I would highly recommend staying here! Make sure you book directly from their website. They often have the lowest rates and open dates even when other sites claim that they are sold out.

Very comfortable and relaxing room and property with plenty of natural beauty on site as well as nearby. Great restaurant as well. Highly recommend.

Quaint and unique cottages. Perfect for week up in the adirondacks.
