Smithland Pet Center

I came in just to look around, and I was approached by a very friendly and helpful store associate. I just wanted to say thank you for doing such a good job!

I’ve been shopping with Smithland Supply (formerly Dave’s Soda & Pet City) since I moved to Amherst in 2013. Currently a multi-pet home— our needs have always been met, often with a variety of choices for our critters. I frequent the Hadley location, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad experience. The store is always clean and is easily navigable. Their inventory is superior and their prices competitive. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The recent renovations look great and improve the checkout experience.
Our Friday ritual consists of bringing our now 1 yr old Dalmatian for her weekly new toy and other supplies needed for our pack. Our Dal is a heavy chewer, loves shredding, and love particularly enjoys removing the squeaker from her toys! We’ve been on the lookout for a sturdy plush that can withstand the might of Moo’s jaws recently. While checking out today, we got to chatting with the young ladies cashiering. I did not get their names, but they were wonderful. One of them suggested a toy that she’d heard positive feedback about. She even went through the trouble of grabbing a couple styles of the toy from the sales floor and brought them over for us to take a look at. Moo decided on the “Tuffy Ring” and it’s been an absolute hit! The material is strong. She’s been at it for hours and had no luck puncturing the squeaker, despite her vigorous efforts to extract and silence it. 10/10 would buy again if she manages to destroy it.
We also purchased a winter coat for our Dalmatian today. We’ve purchased several sweaters as well as a raincoat for her from Smithland over the last year and continue to be impressed by the selection of items offered. From a 12-week-old puppy to almost-full-grown, we’ve never had an issue finding something that fits her, or will even accommodate growth spurts.
Smithland Supply is my go-to for all of my pack’s needs. Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Competitive prices. Great selection to choose from for a variety of items.

LOVE the Hadley store!! We have many different kinds of animals and go to Smithland supplies, it’s a fun and friendly store to go to!! Mari helps us all of the time when we are looking for something and can’t find it!! Great selection and employees‼

Very good selection of products for a wide variety of pets. Massive selection of cat and dog products. They have a nice garden and bird seed section as well. Usually not crowded. Staff is always very helpful and friendly. Their live animals seem very healthy and well cared for. They have a couple unfortunate things for sale like enclosures that are unsafe or too small (ie small plastic hamster cages and <2 gallon bowls being sold as "betta bowls") but that's to be expected at a pet store. This used to be Dave's Soda and Pet City, and they've retained a decent amount of sweets and drinks for humans post-sale.

Edit: I used to have a negative opinion of this store's aquarium section but it has really improved the last few years. Plant and creature prices are also good, they have some rare fish for cheap. I've edited my review and rating.

Went in to have my aquarium water tested as I was loosing fish. My ph was off. She showed me a product on the shelf that would solve the problem. But she told me a 50% water change would also fix the problem. I like how she told me I wouldn't need to purchase anything from the store. I have had nothing but fantastic service since they changed from Dave's. Nothing but good service every time I visit Smithland!

I come ALL the way from Easthampton to Smithland Pet Center to buy feeders! The STAFF are helpful & grateful for the opportunity to be there again in full force for our beloved Pets! It's been worth the gas to be a patron here. When my STIMULUS was all gone, I STILL had their SMILES...behind the masks! Great Job!

I buy crickets and snacks here, fun selection of old fashion candy and the peanut butter cups are so good. The crickets are great- super lively, healthy, and live a long time. My leo loves them. I'll never get feeders from petco again, they come with illnesses and die within a few days.

I went into the Smithland Pet Center in Hadley, Massachusetts looking for supplies for my new St. Bernard pup. I asked Chris, the busy manager for some help finding a larger crate for her than the ones the store had displayed. Chris dropped what he was doing and helped me, giving me his undivided attention until we found what I needed. He, like everyone in the store, was professional, and very pleasant. I've been back several times (this has become my pet store of choice) and always have the same result: the products I need, and GREAT SERVICE!

Went in to buy my daughter a hamster. Gabby was exceptional. She knew so much about hamsters and what they like etc.. We got everything we needed and she took the time to talk directly to my seven year old about the care she needs to take with her hamster. She told her not to worry the first few days will be boring until the hamster gets used to us but it will be better in the next week or so. Sure enough when we got home she asked to play with it and quickly remembered what Gabby had said about waiting a few days.

Has an amazing selection of goods for pets; there must be literally a few hundred different brands of dog and cat food for example. Have a pet? Shop here, you won't regret it.
Also a really cute collection of sodas and seltzers in their own rack in the middle, which is random but I love it.

I started going here because they sell live feeder mice. Every single staff member I have met has been nothing short of exceptional. They are all so polite, patient, helpful and knowledgeable about everything I had questions on. I will not go into a different pet store anymore. Smithfield will be the only place I do my pet shopping.

Today, I received a notice from the Bayer Corporation that my rebate for a Cat Collar had been denied because I had either failed to keep, or had misread the instruction that I needed to include the receipt from the sale to receive the rebate. I called the store and asked if I could get a copy of the receipt emailed to me. The associate who answered my phone call was very patient and polite and took the time to copy and scan it into my email. All this on the first day that stores were open for business here in Massachusetts, and they were obviously slammed. Great help is hard to find and Smithland has some great people with a team attitude. I am sorry that I did not get this guy's name, but Thank You for your patience !!

Good customer service. My cat needs maximum gravy to mix in her crushed pill for hyper thyroid. Trying to find a canned food with the most gravy, an associate directed me to the gravy pouches, which I hadn't seen before. I also like the rewards membership that gets me $5 off after so many points, as well as other deals.

Great store! We used their wash stations for our dog. Super convenient and decently priced. We also forgot our collar light , and they called and told us they had it and would save it for us. They are great!

While I still miss Dave's Smithland has done an excellent job of maintaining quality and selection. Very friendly staff to boot!

Awesome selection of sodas, I love the whole flavors and idea behind the "totally gross sodas" from zombie drool, toxic ooze and kiddy puddle each one is fun to look at and great tasting. Also had to get this beautiful beta fish and castle tank they had there the whole kit was only 10 bucks.

Dave's Soda and Pet City is a great place to go for your all your pet care supplies. We have pet supply stores closer to us but this is the only place we can find Feline Pine litter box material for our cat. It's an all natural product in pellet form that is the best we have ever found and our cat loves it.
